I am extremely UN-IMPRESSED with the 30th Anneversery release of 'A night at the Opera' I bought it today for almost $30 American... I own A Night at the Opera... so basically I got a CD I already owned, two music videos I already own and a DVD full of spliced concert footage, most of which I have or dont care for... Now I love Queen, Queen is my life... But they need to stop. They are getting too commercial. Brian and Roger (and John I would guess) have a tremendous amount of money... They shouldnt be charging $30 for a CD and a shitty DVD. Its nice that it was the biggest album ever with the best song ever written, but you dont need to keep making money off of it. They make millions off of Bohemian Rhapsody as it is. Let the old dog die out. I never thought I would be ashamed of Queen. I think this might be the first Queen Item I ever return. Do not get this. Just get the $13 A Night at the Opera CD and get Greatest Hits I DVD. If you must have the concert footage, then just download a torrent of some old concerts. If you want to see a bunch of half dressed British people prancing around a beach... Well I dont know where to get that so in that case get this set. But yeah, theres my two cents.

Good grief. Don't fucking buy it then. Jesus Christ. They released a 30th Anniversary addition because we (Queen fans) said they should.

[SNIP]
What ARE you complaining about....??? $30 is only about 27pence.....
;-)
yeah, you're right. They shouldn't be charging $30 for it.
I bought mine for $25, that's all i see around here in Illinois. It's cool though. I, for one, think it was worth it. Plus, the DVD isn't all bad. It does have the "flames" version of Bo Rhap, and videos that work pretty well in my opinion.
I'm fine with it, but i can understand if you're not.
I bought it here in Argentina for $ 40 (Argentine Pesos. It is about U$D 13.
The Cd is great, the DVD is not that bad... anyway... I think they should have released early takes of the songs, and other unreleased material in this set...
bye!
I bought it for almost 30 dollars too. The DVD did at first turn me off a bit, but I think it's really good! The sleeve with all the lyrics and all has some great pictures in it.
Well I don't mind, im getting it for free. But people have been complaining that the bands lips don't move to some of the videos. Well that sucks. Why did they re-re-re release it? I have already 3 copies of that album. Oh well, like I said, its free for me..
Excellently put - Mercuryqueen!!
It is a load a shite that they keep releasing things like this to milk the fans. I can understand they don't want to let go - but releasing an album - what is it - FOUR times now? Is ridiculous.
I heard they want to release a dvd of the making of a night at the opera <or somet like that..> next year? I surely hope that's a rumer... The way they're going more and more people will start losing respect for them.
You others do make good points -
True - if you think it's ridiculous, don't get it. But we're entitled to an opinion about it, right?
