i heard all sorts of rumours about some sort of video message and watched Live 8 all day but there was no sign of them
even thought the extra lead Guitarist in Green Day appeared to be using a Burns Red Special in one of their songs
to be honest i thought they would be on after R.E.M
Well they did do a broadcast to the crowd on the day which I believe was just Brian wishing them well for the day.
I also think Geldof did enter into talks with them (after live Aid why wouldn't he)but it was felt that they couldn't let the fans in Lisbon down.
I read in the paper that they were going to be performing via satellite from The Greatest City On Earth (Lisbon) but they didn't. I was gutted. Or maybe this was another of Bob Geldof's "Pink Floyd are reforming" or "The Beatles are reforming with Julian Lennon in place of John" guilt trip ideas taht never came off.
I mean his "Pink Floyd are going to reform" for the original Live Aid bull. Obviously they were at Live8. They were great! Act of the day, surely.
Did I mention I was at Live8 in Edinburgh? It was great too, but not as good as the Hyde Park gig.

I believe in Live Aid there was a different band, called Queen. Now at Live 8 it Was Q+ PR.

And all the covers were shite....
I thought Green Day was just ok but I do admire Billie Joe Armstrong's spirited and energetic performance and interplay with the audience at least.
Robbie Williams on the other hand, I have said many times that while I LOVE his own songs, such as ''Angels'' and ''Let Me Entertain You''..
...(which was his own song BTW, not the song by Queen),....
...his cover of Queen Sucked on toast and yes was utter shite. He should have stuck with his own material as he all but desecrated WWRY.
