I definitely agree with your statement, but an "elitist" leftie is something I haven't really seen. Not unless you mean "elitist" in a sense of holding a higher position in academic education. Although I have to say that there's many members of the elite who are left wingers who constantly complain about how little the right wing elite does for charity and giving back to the community, when they as the elite left wing don't do much either. Their hypocrisy is just as awful as the lack of concern of the right wing elite.

Well, with a recent approval rating of 38% is clear that most Americans don't like Bush.
Aside from that Bush is very far from the center, and it's extremely dangerous to any country to have a leader that is very far on either side of the political spectrum.

It is because we got involved in America's wars with Afghanistan and Iraq that London got bombed by Al-Qaeda on 7th July. I am English but I love America. I love the places I have visited in the past and the near-majority of the people I encountered on holidays from 1993 to 1998 were friendly, helpful and welcoming. But the one thing I do not like about some (not all) Americans is this kind of unabashed arrogance. "America is the best, this is America. Where would you be without America?" All that crap. America is a world super-power, there's no denying that but it is not the world-ruler and should not attempt to be. Little history lesson...for Americans for Bush; when Bush sent his troops into Afghanistan and Iraq, which country did he ask to help support his? And which country is the U.S. government asking to send more of their troops into battle? That's right, the U.K.
