I personally think that sharing is a good thing...but for some reason when I saw Minneapolis 80 shared today it angered me slightly. I aquirred the DVD 5 months ago and it was quite rare then...to get if of the person I did was like getting blood from a stone. Because Minneapolis is now shared, its basically worthless...as will Uniondale be when that is shared which surely is only a matter of days...how will we ever get the really really rare stuff if people keep sharing it on here....then there never will be any rarity? This sounds all well and good...but the real tight bastards will keep hold of there Lakeland 78, Monterrey 80, Fort Worth and Atlanta 77 DVD's...we will surely never get them? Share them all though if you are going to share./ Peace out Love you all adam x |

With the advent of Torrents and Rapidshare/You Sendit/File Factory, audio trading at least has become extinct to a large extent. DVD seems a different kettle of fish. My stance on trading is that it is down the owner of said gem whether they wish to share here or not. Unfortunately when someone has an item someone else wants and stubbornly refuses to negotiate a trade it causes problems... |

I don't know if I would call it unfair, but I can understand where you are coming from. Once something is on ebay I would rather see it shared here than seeing somebody make a profit from it. |

I think we all love music and by sharing everyone can enjoy good music and not only those who can afford to pay a fortune for a bootleg! What's the deal of rarity, if some recording is very good, why should only a few people be able to listen to it? IN other words: rarity is selfishness |

Well, why not let eyeryone have what they want? Why create false value for something that the creators(the band in concert) never put a price on themselves. Its music, right? |

It's unfair to expect serious collectors to just give up trading leverage for the sake of sharing. They work hard to obtain these rare collections and the not so serious collectors come to a site like this and expect them to share the rare concerts. You talk about sharing, how often do I see hundreds of people download a concert and only a handful end up seeding. I have 2 requests posted for over a week and not one of the hundreds of downloaders offered to seed. That's fucking pathetic, and they got the concert for free. I've become familiar with those who truely shares and I have no problems with helping them out when I can. Maybe this site needs to announce IP addresses of those who only take and don't share. |

I agree, sharing everything available would be a better way for everyone, no backstabbing, hoarding or just generally being greedy, but as you all know some collectors work really hard at finding all these rare gems, so why sould they just give them up freely? I can see both sides of the argument. But personally, I would share something rather than keep it to myself & if EVERYONE did the same (Greg Brooks) all the Queen fans of the world be happy (y'know we ALL!! do have a common goal & should pull together). A lesson taught in childhood by my parents was to share, it makes the world a better place. I just wish the people who have found the cure for the common cold, would share it & put it on the market. Sniff!! Sniff!! Thank God It's Christmas!!!!!!!! |

Well think of it like this, the DVDs you buy wont take up as much space as downloaded videos. I know because I had a few concerts on here and then my computer crashed because of it. |
Manic 13.12.2005 03:57 |
You could always burn your downloaded videos to DVD and free up the hard drive. & Sith, the above reason is why it's difficult to keep on seeding torrents for weeks on end. Once I've achieved a decent share ratio, it's time to burn the files and delete. Perhaps uploading to Rapidshare with a Premium account is an answer. Saves time for the original uploader, people get it faster and Rapidshare will never delete the files as long as your account is live. A torrent first posted in July 2004 (Melbourne) on a relatively small board is unlikely to have any seeders. Perhaps you should request it to be re-uploaded as a new torrent or Rapidshared. |

I totally agree with point that some concerts would not be shared that easy or not at all. Some people wait months or years to build up their collection to trade something from their own, which is rare, against some other bootlegs which is rare. This is the great plessure of collecting I think. I personally looked out for the Minneapolis '80 DVD for years. 2 months ago I finally got it and now.... Okay I understand that you can't keep everything within the real traderscircuit for years and someday their will be something on Queenzone or some other site. But this way of publication isn't good for everyone. Real Queentraders are becoming affraid to trade something because they think you get the same situation as on Queenzone. In the last few months the rare bootlegs are in a rollercoaster situation. And I personally hate people who use Queenzone as a link to Ebay. and sell their ripped bootlegs for 30 dollars, like Houston 77. These people are in my opinion no Queenfans but just pieces of Shit! |

Unfourtunately Bittorrent is ruinning the real spirit of collecting/trading. And the effort that it should demand! Many people here have spent several months even years trying to get some rare videos. But some people that wants attention for a couple of weeks comes and post something rare. They're usually people that haven't make and effort on getting it and have bought it from ebay. And people that have never moved a finger for such a rare video as this can have access to download it! I really think it's so unfair! Sharing is a good thing. But there are some things that should keep rare. This way every month is much less interesting collecting rare stuff. Because one day there won't be anything rare to work hard on getting it! |

Just so you'll know, I'm not one of those collectors. I check out this site religiously and noticed that its the same handful of members who do announces and re-announces or even bother to answer requests. |

you all seem to know what your talking about,so in your opinion what is the rarest queen video |
PieterMC 13.12.2005 10:47 |
My main problem is not with people sharing rare material but with people who sell it, such as Queencollector.com I think it is crazy that he is charging $15 for a copy of a DVD. It is also insane that he is allowed to get away with selling DVD copies of material that has been officially released on VHS. If somebody wants to share a rare recording then fine, but don't do it if you have received that item in a trade and were asked not to share it. |

"you all seem to know what your talking about,so in your opinion what is the rarest queen video" I'd definitely go with taylorgaga's rare Limewire'd video of Freddie Mercury talking about AIDS and crying. |
Rick 13.12.2005 11:22 |
It happens. I'm sure many things will still be rare for a couple of years. |
Rik&Roll 13.12.2005 12:20 |
Why do you want something? Because of its rareness, or to listen/watch it? |

It's the development of technology, not a change in attitude. The sport is to reveal the secrets, not to keep them. Soon the hardcore collectors will focus on memorabilia rather than on copyable items. |

its not that i want or dont want something,i download from this site and i leave my torents open for others,it was just a curiosity question,if you all feel that you can share something, fine share if not i dont mind, but,,,,,,,,,,when i download i seed....i dont have rare things except what i get from here so i am gratefull for all things . |

God i have been chasing certain videos for 15+ years, and i will keep on until i have them on my shelf... its not just point and click and download.... |
Mkls 13.12.2005 13:58 |
..and i forgot to mention the tapers, who spend a lot of money on their equipment, sacrifice the enjoyment of the concert to make a video, etc etc etc... |

I was an avid Queen collector during the 90's but i stoped! Why?- Because i was spending lots of money on things that weren't that worthy. For example, i would buy the same single with different covers and that's insane but it's part of what collectors do. Don't get me wrong but the official stuff (Rare) doesn't loose it's value because of the sharing stuff! The sharing stuff only reduces the value of bootlegs. When the Freddie box was out i simply stoped buying bootlegs, because to me they were worthless, shity sound, etc. I was only buying it just to have another Queen concert or b-side, etc. So, now if i have the oportunity to download concerts and rare stuff, i do, so i don't have to buy it. There are collectors that find certain bootlegs worthy of a bigger price, well, i choose not to do so, i prefer saving the money from the bootlegs and spend it on rare single (but not very often). I share every Queenvideos i have on the E-Mule, i never uploaded here, because: - Five years ago i owned very rare stuff and concerts (for that time standards), after five years i found some newbies that have lots more than i do. And man, i suffered hard to get my hands on some of those items, and that was the beauty of it. You appreciated more those conquers. Everything i considered to be real rare was already shared on Queenzone, so i appologise for not sharing here, but you people own more stuff than i do!! For example: If i have a rare single with a rare b-side i wouldn't mind sharing the track, because the single wouldn't loose it's value ( it was an official release), and i think that shouldn't exist rare tracks at all. What's the point?- Only a few enlighten people would listen to it? I don't mind sharing at all, but i don't spend no more money on worthless bootlegs. Take care |
