Which one is your fave? Greatest Hits 1 Greatest Hits 2 Greatest Hits 3 My fave would be Greatest Hits 1 because its the most rocky cd out of the three, Greatest Hits 2 is more popy and Greatest Hits 3 is alot of ballads and very poignant which is great too. |
liam 12.12.2005 08:20 |
definetly greatest hits 1 because it is the proper queen sound that we love. number 2 though has classics is very 80's pop and number 3 well i think it was so unnesesary. |
Music Man 12.12.2005 09:03 |
Not 3. |

Well, first of all, both Greatest Hits (1) and Greatest Hits 2 are beyond compare - probably the best greatest hits albums of any band. Greatest Hits 3 on the other hand is, if not shit, at least completely unnecessary. Its not even a Queen CD, because it has mostly solo stuff, a shitty Under Pressure-Remix and Queen-stuff sung by other people (don't get me started on Wyclef Jean). Why not admit that there was only stuff for two Greatest Hits-records? So here is my list: 1) Greatest Hits 2: the first Queen record I listened to, still my favourite. I love their 80s stuff (Radio Ga Ga is my favourite Queen song) 2) Greatest Hits: A magnificent album, not a single track that is only average (there a at least one or two fillers on Greatest Hits 2). 3) Greatest Hits 3: two words: unnecessary and uninspired! |

Would've had to buy a lot of different albums to get those cuts on GH3. Plus, at the time, it was the only place I could find the videos. I must have about 20 different greatest hits/best of CDs, what's one more? |
Munchsack 12.12.2005 11:55 |
Difficult to say. 70s Queen is not better, or worse, IMO, than 80s Queen, but it's definitely between GH1 & GH2. There are a few good tracks on GH3, but I still think of it as a cash-in for EMI, so they have something new for the millennium. |
k-m 12.12.2005 16:32 |
1 - the best, classic 2 - different, poppy, but still great 3 - weird & weak |

That's twenty-six tracks for the choosing right there, all from the UK and US, and if they really wanted to make a fourth Greatest Hits, they could have easily put on other country's singles: 'Teo Torriate', 'I Was Born To Love You', 'Mustapha', 'One Year Of Love', 'I Was Born To Love You', 'Bites The Dust (with Wyclef Jean)', 'Under Pressure (rah)', 'We Will Rock You (with 5ive)', and 'Flash (Vanguard)'. That's thirty-five tracks overall, and considering that Queen like to put seventeen tracks per compilation, enough for two more compilations. |

Greatest Hits 2 is well the best, its got all the classics on it like Radio Ga Ga and A Kind Of Magic. Greatest Hits 1 is good but most of the songs from that is when they were younger and when they werent at their peek |
gihona 12.12.2005 16:51 |
definitely Greatest Hits 1. that was the album that made me fall inlove with the band when i was 10 years old... the second one is also superb, gotta agree with the claim that the third is absolutely disposable... you got enough money guys! no need to release dozens of stupid unnecessary compilations! |

Wow! I am so going to stick up for "Greatest Hits III"! I was and am so thankful for it! It was so amazing to have something "new" from Queen that year! I also would like to say that all these other songs that could be added for one or two more hit compilations should not be so that the albums that they are from will retain hits unto themselves so that they will be the only places to get them. Also for whatever it is worth I think it is also good that all of Queen's singles are not just added onto a hits compilation just because they were singles but because there was at least some degree of validiity to them being hits. (Yes I know there are some exceptions but I still stand by this.) I also would like to say that while I still am not big on solo hits or group hits being on compilations of one or the other by an artist or group I think that there are some reasonable exceptions. I think that "Greatest Hits III" was a great exception and I think it was fine AND good that it was done the way it was done. I just wish a Roger Taylor solo song or two could have been on it was well... |

For me, I think GH2 is slightly better. Like someone here said, they were at their peak during that time and totally nailed it. GH1 is amazing too, a classic. Actually it's really hard to decide! I dont really know. Oh and GH3, is OK.. |

lozitopj 12.12.2005 22:39 |
I would probably say GH2, because of the 80's songs like Radio Ga Ga and Breakthru. However, here in America we have had other Queen compilations such as: Queen's Greatest with songs from the 80's like IWTBF (Edit). Also in 1992, Hollywood Records released Classic Queen with songs from the 70's to Innuendo. It had songs like SCC, OYOL and finally TATDOOL. Cheers!!!! |
Forevermine 12.12.2005 23:31 |
Classic. It has it all. |
Munchsack 13.12.2005 08:26 |
Yeah, there was plenty of stuff that could have been put on GH3, but the question was which one do we like the best. I think EMI could have done a lot better with GH3. FE, I know a lot of you disagree with me on this, but I think that TSMGO with Elton John is shit. This is because I just don't like Elton John. I would have preferred if, say, KYA or TYMD was on instead of this. Also, things such as DBY, LOMO and Barcelona are not even Queen songs. Surely there are enough good Queen single releases to replace these, as well as the AOBTD remix. I don't recall a single person saying they like this track. However, there are good tracks on GH3 as well. I love the Under Pressure remix, as well as TATDOOL and Thank God It's Christmas. I just think there were so many better tracks they could have put on. I'm just grateful they didn't bother with Queen+5ive's WWRY. They can't please every Queen fan, but they could at least try a little harder. |

1 Than 2 And than 3- the 3rd one is a complete waste... |
Fairy 13.12.2005 08:50 |
1 and 2 are equally wonderful. I agree with many that number 3 is shit and unnecessary. If they wanted to make a third Greatest Hits album at least they should have left out the remixes and above all the songs performed by other artists, as they have absolutely nothing to do with Queen's greatest hits...they only seem to be thrown in there because there was nothing better by Queen to add to the compilation, which isn't true... |
inmsthebest 13.12.2005 11:11 |
I choose 1 and 2. 1 because it's all powerful and amazingly good quality songs. 2 because they show an evolution on their style and I love masterpieces like Innuendo and The show must go on. Then again, Freddie's voice achieved those years a new degree of expression which involved a wide range of passionate heart-rendering and angry feelings. I find his voice evolved to a point that he could share the most distinctive emotions he probably was going through in those years. About 3, I don't know, I haven't got it, but reading you, I guess I must be happy about that.:)) |
Munchsack 13.12.2005 15:30 |
Well, if you can pick it up cheap, I wouldn't say not to buy it. Don't get me wrong, I do love some of the songs on it, and most of it you can't get anywhere else (FE the version of LOMO on GH3 is not available anywhere else AFAIK) but some of it is really not worth having. |

I do agree that songs like ANOBTD remix w/ Wyclef and Show Must Go On w/ Elton John were weak but it had some good strong points too 1. Under Pressure w/ David Bowie- I like this version sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. The quicker pace they did blows the hotspace version out of the water 2. Too Much Love Will Kill You- very emotional song that was recorded after GH2 3. Princes of the Universe- Great song, enough said 4. Driven By You- Good fast paced love song by Brian. Not done very often 5. No One But You- Its all about Freddie's life, COME ON! Thats just what I think so feel free to challenge me. |

The Greatest Hits 1 songs well.......Dont get me wrong, they are great......but they are kinda stale to me. They are the Queen staples, most people who look somewhat into Queen know. A friend of mine (a diehard elton john fan) has Queen Greatest Hits on her Ipod (maroon version). Thinking she would know, I asked her what she thought about us playing Breakthru at her birthday. She answers with "Whats that?" The greatest hits 1 is their most well known songs. I just am dumbfounded when people expect me to "shit a brick" (sorry about language) because they know one of what I call the "big four" (Boh-rap, WWRY, WATC, ANOBTD). When I say Under Pressure or Driven By You, they are clueless. You decide |
