Hi guys, I was only eight when Freddie died, so this question is for the older fan who listened to Queen during the 70's or 80's. My question is:
When I listen to alot of Queen songs, I find alot of them to be quite emotional. For example: You Take My Breath Away, Save Me, One Year Of Love, Love Of My Life and Who Wants To Live Forever, that come to mind. What I would like to ask is, for those of you who heard these songs when Freddie was alive, were these songs emotional then and did the meanings of the songs or the emotions of the songs change in any way after his death?
A weird question I know but one I had to ask!
Thanks
I don't know, I think something changed, yes...but this songs are eternal, of course something changed when Freddie died, personally, I prefer Queen emotional songs to they hard rock numbers, I adore Who wants to live forever..weird question, yes, but
interesting one.
They were just songs. If the meaning changed after Freddie dying, that's because the listener has changed, which hopefully is what's happening to all of us daily anyway...
True.
Yet, these were the songs of our youth. They take us back, and at the same time we lost some of our 'youth'. 'There Must Be More To Life Than This' certainly created a different mood after his death. Rather than a message to everyone, it feels like a personal eulogy.
(I won't get into 'My Love Is Dangerous')
Same holds true for any John Lennon or Beatle track since 1980 (for me anyway).
I think alot of the songs have alot of deep meanings, for each person there different. One of mine may be the year of 39 when a ship set sail, possibly 1739 when my ancestors, came from England, in a ship and landed in Raliegh N.C. Maybe for you another country,But it just fits my geneology so it works for me. thats what Ithink about when I listen to that song!!!
