i read that freddie was aggresive due to his increased cocaine use in the late 70's to mid 80's. A symptom of Cocaine use is being agressive. |

And I heard he fought a lot of people in bars... And then he totally got very angry and steam was coming out of his ears after the video of 'How Can I Go On' or one of those other songs from the Barcelona album, because while filming the video, the vocals were too slow and since it was a live miming to it, they couldn't re-do it. |

He didn't pin Bono against the wall. We in Ireland have a phrase. Say for example you get caught having to talk to someone you don't really want to, or someone who's really chatty gets hold of you when you're in a rush to be somewhere else.... We would say...and try this with a Norn Irn, or Oirish accent: "Oi had to go the stage, loike, where I was due to play, but I bumped into yer man, Freddie. Jaysus he had us pinned for an hour, you know how that fecker likes to ganche" Hence where Bono uses the phrase "pinned". I thank you. Dialects of Ireland for Beginners: Lesson 1 has now ended.... |

From Freestone's or Hutton's biography, it sounded like he had bad mood swings from cocaine. The user never thinks they do. I wondered if his close associates were a bit like Elvis's "Memphis mafia" - yes men - who could stay a part of the clan as long as they didn't give the master any lip. |

I wondered if his close associates were a bit like Elvis's "Memphis mafia" - yes men - who could stay a part of the clan as long as they didn't give the master any lip.I'm reading Jim's book right now and I'm half way through. From what I've read so far I have the impression that Freddie was kind of spoiled. Everybody around him did his best to please him, not just because they were working for him. They all certainly cared for him, and also knew that he demanded the best. Jim said Freddie couldn't hear the word "no" :-). And yes, maybe they were also trying to flatter him a bit to keep being part of his circle, who knows. Freddie did have mood swings and could be a "naughty boy" sometimes, but in the end he had a heart of gold and could never hurt anyone, not even animals. For instance, he couldn't stand spiders, so he'd ask Jim to catch them but to throw them out, not to kill them! Jim says he often felt sorry for Freddie, and I can relate to what he says. Because he was surrounded by lots of people trying to please him, but he could never be sure about their feelings, whether they cared for him or his fame (take the Paul Prenter's incident). Freddie was surrounded by people, had wild parties...and yet he often felt alone. And the press haunted him. He couldn't even go to the restroom alone when he was in a public place. I know that's the price you pay for fame...But it can also drive you mad sometimes, so I guess this is where some of his mood swings came from, not just cocaine. Love you Freddie! Fairy |

There is an anecdote that happened in Buenos Aires: some journalist asked him why had he invited Diego Maradona to share the stage after their show in 1981, he had already been asked that question a hundred times, he looked at the guy and told him that he had to acknowledge he had a son. Ironic don't you think? |

Well, I found this on QOL, don't know if that's true, but was published on a newspaper the day after he died. Well, the paper was trying to show he had a very dark personality side apart from the kind and funny people were used to. This is an excerpt from it: But he could be a bitch. A record company executive told how Freddie flipped in Munich, one of his regular haunts. The boss said: "We were cruising in a limo, drinking, taking drugs and watching TV. "Freddie's latest young boy switched channels and Freddie went bonkers, shouting and screaming. "He told the chauffeur to stop the car and physically kicked the kid out, leaving him stranded miles from anywhere. "Then we went to find Freddie another friend." The star also loved New York, particularly a club called The Mineshaft, which is notorious for violent gay practices. |
