I must say, i was rather upset that there was only one track on the Q+PR DVD from Hyde Park, I wanted a dvd where I could look for myself in the audience and the 'imagine' track (although marvelous) wasn't long enough for me to do that.
Anyone else go to diff (or same) concert and feel the same way?
nah... i DO think it's a pity they didn't release more bonus material.
A big part of the summer shows where filmed. IMO it's a shame they did not use the material.
(All those hot lights in Arnhem (The Netherlands) for nothing...)
BUT on the other hand... there is so much great stuff out there available for download or in trading circles. People should stop whining and accept that sometimes they just can't get it all...
I think it's completely DUMB. Why did they film it in the first place then? Just to have it in their archive for pure fun? It's very expensive to film en entire gig. I hope they some ideas....
One song as a bonus is a rip off... It's a great gig, I love it, but why one song as a bonus ????
MARK: It's not always a matter of getting it all. It's about getting the best product available for the amount of money you put into it... They wouldnt have had to pay much more to get some bonus onto the disc...
Why didnt they? What is the answer?
I'm not moaning because I love the gig, but why didnt they include more???
Plz help!
I've not seen the Imagine footage yet (as I'm getting ROTC at Christmas), but I know I won't be in it as I was far too far away from any cameras...
Except the one that filmed the bootleg that was posted here a month or so ago! I'm standing about 2m to the left of the camera, so I'm in the video every so often - I'm even caught doing the Ga Ga clapping!
But I agree, seems quite pointless to film a show so professionally yet not release it. U2 released two concert DVD's from their 2001 tour (one indoors in Boston, one outdoor at Slane), so it's entirely possible that they intend to release it at some point. But if that were the case, why put Imagine on the other disc? Confusing...
The other argument is that the video footage is for the benefit of the concertgoers. Almost every concert now (indoor and outdoor) has live video feeds on big screens, so effectively every night of a tour is filmed.

No it is not!
What you see on the screen is a live-line-in video which is NOT recorded - they still need to hire a speical crew and equipement if they want to RECORD that live-feed. I'm afraid it is a little more complicated and a LOT more expensive then simply plugging in a divice and record a show.
Thats exactly how I feel, guys! Theres nothing I'd like better than Hyde park to be released as a full show on DVD. If you were there, then you would know what I mean!
I'd already been to the Newcastle show, but I think Hyde Park made 2005 totally life changing for me!
Every song- performed perfectly...not to even mention the atmosphere!....and John Lennon's Imagine too!
Im sure that the night (in all it's glory and perfection) would have been recognised by Brian & Roger- I mean....It was special to them as well- i think I remember it being some sort of anniversary or something for them- playing at Hyde Park again-20th anniversary???
Anyway, we've just gotta l;ive in hope that someday maybe we will find out if they did really record that day-and hopefully the archives will be made available to us- IN OUR LIFETIME!
Logicly it dosnt make sense they film and release sheffield over the closing and largest gig of the europeon tour. It was such a great night and the filming supperb i think i speak for a lot of people when i think that if it was released even if on internet sale only or sumthing a lot of us obsessed fans would buy it.
Hyde Park was nowhere close to the indoor gigs - because it was daytime! The lights, the feeling in the air, no curtain... completely different. It would look strange on an official DVD. Yes, Sheffield was a bad choice but so would be Hyde Park. Budapest, Rotterdam, Prague, Munich - all these would have been a much better choice.
Martin- disagree- the half of the gig was with a sunrise and the footage I've seen on the screen was SPECTACULAR- the whole sky was amazingly red, it was absolutely magical... Bootlegs didn't capture it THAT well (from what I've seen so far)- believe me, clear screens footage was nothing short of PERFECT- but MAYBE it'd be just a great bonus, let's say 5-7 songs from it...
Sheffield was crap, mostly because of audience... And I personally don't think we'll see another ENTIRE gig from the European leg- if anything it'll be either Japan or forthcoming US leg...
Without a studio album i don't think they'll release another DVD. And if they don't change the setlist dramatically at US dates then it's certain that they wont do it, because it's just guiving more of the same.
I do think that Hide Park looked suberb, but they have made the decision of Shefield way before that, and that´s the way life is. The big investiment was on Shefield and it wouldn't make any sense to drop that one because a lot of effort was put there. Every camera captured perfectly the stage and the band members.
i think they could film every concert but not with so many cameras, because it would be ridiculous.
They could put a bonus of it on the new CD (if there is ever going to be one), or sell it to national TV , or sell it on Queenonline, but as an official release i don't think so!
But i think that it was suposed to be a bonus on the Sheffield DVD, but for some reason...
By the way, Brian said that they did a video for Bohemian Rhapsody from the Hide Park, and it was suposed to be avaiable for people to download. What do you guys know about this?
Take care
I havent heard anythiong about that But I think I'm gunna look for it now!
Maybe we should send an email to Queenonline and ask them to ask someone in their managemnet (or even them) about it.
It seems pretty obvious to me what they will do. They shot the Sheffield concert in High Definition. Dvd's do not play High Definition. So the video was transferred down to standard definition for the DVD release.
Why did they shoot it in HD? Because by the end of 2006 HD-DVD will be available. They will re-release the concert on HD-DVD (or blueray) with more bonuses and features.
Ok this is all getting a little too high tech for me
But the sheffield gig is not what I want, the hyde park gig is.
So if anyone is feeling generous and wants to letme know where I can find a decent copy or bootleg then let me know :D
Go on my profile and find out mt email address or just post it on here
