doremi 05.12.2005 13:04 |
How do you know you failed without actually seeing the scores? have a little faith. Does your teacher/professor score on a curve? If, so you might be ok. |

Shit happens. It's just an exam, no worries. |

It's annoying when big nerds like my friends come out of exams saying they failed when they are straight A students. God damn them...:P Sorry, I'm just jealous cos I never get good results. I'm sure you did grand in your exams! On another note, however, I'm a little harsh on this subject in saying that: If you fail it's no one else's fault but your own and you deserved to fail. If you didn't put the work in what do you expect?Linda, I don't know this topic starter's whole situation, but they may or may not have put in the necessary work. We don't know. When I was in college, my freshman year 1979, I was required to take in the USA what they call 3 general distribution requirements, along with my double major. The GDR are either 2 maths and a science or 2 sciences and a math. Well, I have always been terrible in math even with TUTORS I hired and TONS of extra studying. Anyways, I took 1 math, which was like Math for dummies, and just barely passed, and 2 sciences thinking..how hard can science be? I took Bilogy and Astronomy. Well I found out that in college, the Biology was ALL math equations of chromosomes and genetics and that Astronomy wasn't cool stuff about planets..but was all PHYSICS and math equations. So...out of my OWN pocket, I paid a TUTOR to help me study extra hard and explain the stuff, and I STILL Just barely passed those 2 classes, by the seat of my pants. Now...all of my English Literature and writing classes I aced with A pluses, because for some reason, I excel in that. But..it was funny and a running joke in college with my friends. My friends naturally excelled in math and sciences and sucked in English Lit and writing. We used to kid one another because they would ask me for help with English Lit and writing and I would ask them for help with Math and Science. |

If you didn't put the work in what do you expect?Usually, I just say, "Yeah, I totally aced that," and I'm usually right. I seldom put much effort into exams and I expect A's. I do not see your point at all. Grades are not completely proportional to effort, you know. Probably two parts effort, one part intelligence, and one part luck. |

She's forever saying that people come into 5th year and take Biology thinking it's an easy topic to get your points for the Leaving Certificate. But boy are they wrong... It's a nice subject, I'll take it for the leaving cos I love Biology (and my mam being a teacher for it is a further bonus...:P) but people, don't patronise the subject, it's harder than you think!! :)I think Astrophysics could give it a run for its money. "Rocket science" and "intelligence" aren't often compared without reason. Still, all subjects deserve some degree of intellectual merit, but it truly depends upon what YOU put into YOUR education. What is for someone, isn't so for another. |

Ever since I can remember (well, that's the problem - I can't remember,) I have had memory problems. It is frightening, and I have spent my whole life hiding it from others so I wouldn't look dumb. I remember nothing from my childhood. Nothing. I can read a book and absolutely love it, and three days later I might remember the name of it, certainly not the author's name, and zip about the contents. Same thing with movies. I can't remember people's faces. I have no idea who lives in my condo building even though I have been here 12 years. When I had a secretarial job, I would type up my boss's handwritten drafts, but not remember any of the content. This caused great anxiety for me. I used to get A's on tests but only after severely cramming the night before. Three days later I couldn't tell you a thing about the subject. I gave up going to book groups - I could not partake in any of the discussions. I have failed at soooooooo many things I have tried because of it. It has always been monstrously frustrating. I "joke" that I was abducted by aliens when I was five, and they not only took away my memory of the incident, but the rest of my memory as well. There must be a name for what I have such as a learning disorder or a memory disorder. I can't be the only one in the world with this, can I? |

I know this is a bit off topic, but has anyone ever typed FAILURE into google? It's funny what it produces. |

For those of you who never tried it, up until a couple of months ago, if your typed in weapons of mass destruction on google and hit 'I'm feeling Lucky' you went straight to what looked like a 404 error page, until you read the error message. Here it is: link |

You know what class I hate? Advanced Algebra! It is so boring! (X+2)(X-2)=X'2+-2. WHOO FEEL THE BURN! The square root of -1 is i. i squared = -1 so Now any problem that would be easy before by saying no solution, you cant take the square root of a negative number...NOW HAS TO BE REDONE AND EXPLAINED TO BEFIT A USELESS THEORY! Sorry, had to vent there................ |
Monte: Liquorice Years 18.12.2005 00:28 |
wow, what you just said made no sense to me. i quit hard maths, and im now doing year 7 work (im in year 12...). i love it, simple algebra, measuring things... oh god it's good! i keep top marks, and i dont work at all. see, i quit all my hard subjects after year 11, ie chemistry and biology. yes! now i do shit easy ones: art (fun with paint), general maths, english, extension english, ancient history and ext. history. They are all so very easy, and i pass without working... of course i want to quit school, even with 9 months left. FUCK SCHOOL TO HELL!!! PS. im sure you did fine in your exams. if not, well, oops. |
That guy who digs energy domes 18.12.2005 00:32 |
Yeah, I have graphic arts. Cant get much easier. I spend my time making shirts and editing photos. My accomplishments include my schoolwide famous DARTH FREDDIE poster, my THE GAME shirt and the fact that I have used almost half the school's ink. |
Monte: Liquorice Years 18.12.2005 00:36 |
bahahah! nice work! my friend and i steal stuff from the art room! it's great because one art teacher is completely batty (she actually said "im quitting teaching and working on my art because MY SOUL IS DIEING" who says that?) and the otehr art teacher is pregnant, so she cant do anything. i have piles of books and textas...it's great! last year (or this year that has just passed) i made a dress with a painted motly crue dragon on it (i was going to their concert, i needed something to wear and something to do in art) |
That guy who digs energy domes 18.12.2005 00:43 |
What do you use to print it? We have Screen printing, offset press and 4 color printing |
Monte: Liquorice Years 18.12.2005 01:08 |
i dont print, i actually paint it.... with fabric paint usually. But if i do print, it's off a normal computer onto this special paper which can be transferred to cloth by ironing. (im so lazy, yet practical!) |
That guy who digs energy domes 18.12.2005 01:09 |
lol, that would be so much easier. The screen printing gets ink all over and its a huge mess. |
