For Christmas I asked for this book but my mom says its probably all about sex, is this true or is there more to it? |
Serry... 04.12.2005 14:33 |
It's about gay sex even. I wouldn't present this book as a Xmas gift to no-one... |
Rick 04.12.2005 15:09 |
Without the book it´s going to be a cold, cold X-mas... |
Sherwood Forest 04.12.2005 15:28 |
i think ive heard everyone reccoment the other book by Peter Freestone- thats what im asking for christmas because i was going to ask for the Mercury and Me then i started asking questions about it around Queenzone and ive learned that the book by Peter is better- (for me) unless ur looking for a book about gay sex every other page. it really comes down to what ur looking for in a book about Fred.... |

Theres alot about their holidays and the recording of INNUENDO and what not in it. But its good because it lets u see a personal side to Fred through the eyes of the man who loved him in his last days... Its extremely touching. |

I really loved this book, it was sad, funny, lovely and it told the truth. i think it better discribed what freddie was like than Peter's book (even though i loved that book too). Buy it, i loved it! |

What a bunch of stupid fans on this board..... Everyone believing every f***ing word said by Hutton in his ill-imaginative "intimate memoirs". It can hardly be called a BOOK even, it's a piece of sh*t by a person, who simply wanted to make easy money and fame using the name and fame of one great Freddie Mercury shortly after his death. There is NO evidence to believe this man at all. One of the main reasons for this is that Freddie had always kept secret about his private life and 100% would have never approved of writing and issuing such kind of work about him. Hutton knew it but did it his way. And does anybody have the right to expose disgusting things about other person to public, especially if this person is gone and most especially if there had been TRUE love or friendhip between them?!?! It's so obvious that there's NO love at all in all these matters. Hutton has been using his former situation of being close to Freddie to say or do anything he wants, because many minds would blindly believe him... His thought up stories are very controversial to many REAL facts from Fredie's life and to the memories of other people who had been close to Freddie. Freestone, by the way, has been doing nearly the same things as Hutton... So, go ahead, guys! Support miserable persons who blur the memory of a great man............... |

I've wondered the same thing..I dont believe he loved Freddie, he had betrayed him. If Freddie was here, he would be furious with him.. and of course I can see why. I guess 100,000 is not enough for him, so he wrote a book, and added some stuff to make it sound interesting. It's unfair to Freddie, because he's not here to defend himself. Also why should I listen to some guy that says that him and Freddie were 'very close'? Like antiden said, what if they were just friends? We dont know, and probably never will. Freddie isn't here to tell his story (probably wouldn't anyway) |
antiden 05.12.2005 05:47 |
Barry, Jim was left as much money from Freddie as any other of his servants. And Freddie bought appartments for many close people before his death, not only for Hutton. In his will Freddie didn't line up Jim in some specific way. The larger part of his inheritance was left to his parents, sister and Mary Austin, as well as for charity! And by the way, it's Hutton and Freestone who told everybody that Freddie called Jim "his husband". When Freddie was alive NOBODY knew about that at all. And isn't it strange enough that there's NO photo or any other clue that Freddie and Jim showed their love affair publicly and kissed a lot?? (But Jim tells they did it regularly................) |
MelinaMercury 05.12.2005 06:00 |
when they all went out Freddie used to have Mary on his arm to disway any rumours about his sexuality... But when they went to the Gay Clubs they where very much affectionate towards each other, Maybe having a blazing row because freddie would be flirting with some other guy haha... I agree with bits and pieces from both sides of opinions as to whether books should of been written or not...! Who knows what ppl write is true or bollox...But ppl by them hahahaha! Cheers X |
antiden 05.12.2005 06:56 |
Barry, didn't you ask Jim why did he betray Freddie and blurred the memory of him? Also why is he still alive or may be he has no HIV/AIDS at all????????? |
Serry... 05.12.2005 07:10 |
Hehe... Smells like on QRR... Don't try so hard, Barry, I've spent last months on QueenRocksRu site trying to explain that things are not so bad in this world as some fans are trying to imagine them... ;) It's impossible! |
tia 05.12.2005 08:12 |
Ive read the book recently and there was little talk about sex. It was mostly about thier relationship and the kinda person Freddie really was. I recommend it. |
7Innuendo7 05.12.2005 08:22 |
well, PF did write something about all Freddie's songs being sex-related, in fact "Staying Power" originally titled "F*cking Power" according to him |

Its a great book. You can also search for these books on amazon.com. Thats where i found my copy. And i think if jim wanted to capitalize on fred's money he would have done it long before fred died if thats all he was after. I mean he could have gone on an entire media blitz, done a movie etc, its j/ a book. And maybe somethings are true and some are not, but freddie himself said he doesnt care what happens with his fame after he dies, hes dead so he wont care. (not the best argument i know, but im sure theres more to it than people think) And Jim wasnt into the touchy feely PDA relationship, so naturally theres no big press with them doing so. And plus as previously mentioned, he tried to prevent people knowing of his sexuality. And theres things in there that many other books have stated, like his cocaine use and his promiscuity. so he really wasnt exploiting anything people didnt already know of. |

By all means, read the book if you have to buy it yourself. My screen name is also my age, and I first met Freddie and Queen at the Erlanger Theatre in Philadelphia in 1974 when they toured with Kansas. I was a photographer with an underground music rag called "Souls on Ice." It's another perspective on Freddie Mercurys' life- from someone who cared for him on a daily basis, not just when he was on-stage, because of his enormous talent! Because he was such a complex person, he had "complex" relationships with people, both male and female, but it was not a "complex" issue to fall in love with the person, the man, or his music, no matter WHO you were. Freddie was one of the most phenominal talents one the planet, but he was also a completely wonderful human being, if you took the time to look PAST that talent, and see the person behind it. All he ever wanted was "somebody to love"- that loved him unconditionally , without an alternative agenda. His generosity was over-whelming. I only wish he had had in his life, people who truly knew how to give what he gave, in return. |
Delilah54 20.12.2005 12:32 |
Good God- I think the guy who said "What a blazing crock this is" was dead ON. You all post as if you were on the "inside" of things- which few people ever were! Freddie was an extremely private person- never really ventured out during the day at all, except to go antiquing or to lunch- and stayed very much to the four walls of Garden Lodge! Other then his "arm charm" (M.A.) you would not have known at all who he was involved with, unless you had the opportunity to frequent one of the clubs or bars that HE frequented in the late evenings, and even then he was discrete- UNLESS he'd had a bit too much to drink. You all sound far too YOUNG in your writings to have known for a fact some of the things you sound so sure of in your "ramblings." Freddie lived his life, HIS way, on his "terms." The rest is pure speculation on the part of anyone else "outside the walls." |

hey i dont know alot about this so this might sound a little dumb so correct me if im wrong...but if their relationship was that close than why didn't Jim get aids aswell? |
