Well, the tour has been announced, so let's begin writing which songs we'd like to hear. Reaching Out (Paul) Tie Your Mother Down (Paul) Headlong (Paul) Fat Bottomed Girls (Paul) Wishing Well or Fire And Water (Paul) Another One Bites The Dust (Paul) Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Paul) Bad Company (Paul on vocals & keyboards) Save Me or Who Wants To Live Forever (Paul & Brian) Breakthru or Dragon Attack (Roger or maybe Paul) Sleeping On The Sidewalk or Long Away (2 options: Accoustic by Brian on his own or electric with the band but both sung by Brian) Is This The World We Created? While I absolutely love your potential additions you have to expect more Bad Company songs for the US Tour...Rock N Roll Fantasy will be in there...Seagull will come back where you have Is This The World?...Bad Company will be in there. Maybe Rock Steady of Silver Blue & Gold/Running With The Pack too...You have to expect that with Paul's band being so popular over here. I can certainly see It's Late, Headlong & Now I'm Here making appearances too. There should be some solid shake ups in the set if we're lucky. |
Ray D O'Gaga 04.12.2005 00:06 |
I definitely expect more of Paul Rodgers' catalog in the set. Maybe two or three more songs. Considering Paul declined Brian & Roger's initial offer to have a full 50% of the set be made up of his material, I think Paul's been awfully gracious about the whole thing. So if they feel they need to do a few more of his songs, I won't mind too terribly. There probably will be more than a few people going to those shows who are going mostly to see Paul Rodgers. |
boy of destiny 04.12.2005 02:16 |
I hope you're right to some extent because the set list needs to be shaken up. "Movin On" would be a great edition from PR's catalog. Unfortunately I just don't see it happening. With the big venues they're afraid to risk disappointing the casual fan and therefore will stick with the hits. I'd be happy if they just threw in a medley to please the real fans. |
boy of destiny 04.12.2005 02:24 |
Sorry.. scratch "Movin On", I meant "Good Lovin' Gone Bad". Brian would sound GREAT playing the main riff. |
MercuryArts 04.12.2005 23:56 |
I can't Roger singing Dragon Attack, he'd collapse trying to drum along & sing. It's Late, Now I'm Here would be great! I would love to see Silver Blue & Gold in the encores. Shooting Star would be a great addition as well. Actually I'd love to hear an oldies medley. Some Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, any other performers they grew up listening to. Sail Away Sweet Sister would be excellent! |
likecats 05.12.2005 01:15 |
Well, I was fortunate to see the original line-up a couple of times, but there are at least a few of my favorites that I never got to hear them play: I really want to hear Ogre Battle, Stone Cold Crazy, and Brighton Rock. I got to hear them play the tail end of Brighton Rock once, but I want to hear the whole thing. That said, I think the probability of any of those getting played is around .0000000001. I think Paul Rodgers could do a good job with It's Late and Spread Your Wings, and those might have a slightly better chance of making it into the show. I really wish they would play Innuendo too. Anyway, I don't think the set list will be tremendously different from this year's. |
MercuryArts 05.12.2005 10:27 |
Ogre Battle & Stone Cold Crazy? Hmmmm, I would love to hear them played. However, I think we have a better chance of the Pope flying in on a hang-glider!! |

I'd prefer to see the Pope come flying in on en enormous inflatable set of cock & balls. Right over the head of Trip Khalif. |

If it means adding an extra 30 minutes to the set so be it. No one would complain I'm sure. |
rogertaylor88 06.12.2005 15:01 |
Maybe a Jimi Hendrix song or a medley? What about Sunshine of your love? You know Brian May loves Cream, Eric Clapton & Jimi Hendrix. And Paul made a tribute album to Hendrix. |

No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) (Brian & Roger) or maybe Let Me Live sung by Paul, Brian & Roger The Show Must Go On (Paul) All Right Now (Paul) We Will Rock You (Paul) We Are The Champions (Paul) for the encore i think? i think No one But You should be played last- it would leave a HUGE impretion on the crowd, especially if Paul doesnt sing at all during it. |

Even in their hey-day this band never played shows longer than 2 1/4 hours. You know what's missing from the current show are the medley(s), shortened versions of the songs segueyed together. Always loved the way Queen did that. Also I always liked the improvs. In the "early" days there was always some improv "jamish" parts in the encore - jailhouse rock/saturday night's alright for fightin etc. And pyrotechincs...lets not forget the pyros ! |

Well, i spent quite a couple of hours over the last few days on this one. I think it's very difficult to make some major changes, without completely dissapointing the people, who expect exactly the same QPR did throughout Europe & Japan. So i tried some moderate changes, mainly adding some Freddie and re-adding some Paul tunes: 01 - REACHING OUT (Paul) 02 - PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE (Paul) 03 - FAT-BOTTOMED GIRLS (Paul) 04 - WISHING WELL (Paul) 05 - ANOTHE ONE BITES THE DUST (Paul) 06 - CRAZY THING CALLED LOVE (Paul) 07 - BAD COMPANY (Paul) 08 - SAY IT'S NOT TRUE (Roger) 09 - SEAGULL (Paul) 10 - LOVE OF MY LIFE (Brian) 11 - HAMMER TO FALL (Brian & Paul) 12 - FIRE AND WATER (Paul) 13 - DRUM SOLO 14 - I'M IN LOVE WITH MY CAR (Roger) 15 - GUITAR SOLO 16 - LAST HORIZON 17 - THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES (Roger) 18 - RADIO GA-GA (Roger & Paul) 19 - FEEL LIKE MAKING LOVE (Paul) 20 - BODY LANGUAGE (Paul) 21 - I WANT IT ALL (Paul) 22 - CAN'T GET ENOUGH (Paul) 23 - SOMEBODY TO LOVE (Paul) 24 - BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (Freddie & Paul) 25 - NO-ONE BUT YOU (Brian & Roger) ENCORE 26 - THE SHOW MUST GO ON (Paul) 27 - ALL RIGHT NOW (Paul) 28 - WE WILL ROCK YOU (Paul & Brian & Roger - each a verse) 29 - WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS (Paul) 30 - GOD SAVE THE QUEEN Total running time would be close to 130 minutes, estimately. |
rogertaylor88 07.12.2005 15:31 |
It's a good set list but I think body language is a "very freddie" song to be played by Paul and that Roger would have troubles playing drums and singing we will rock you. But the other ones are great! I hope they'll play headlong and it's late... |
Freddiettt 07.12.2005 16:09 |
i just hope the light show(screens)(Freddie tribute) and the eminem opening stay the same.. reachin out is a perfect first song. |
pcgenius9 07.12.2005 16:11 |
Princes of the Universe from a film is extremely unlikely! It would be funny, but I can't see Paul singing in a sexy voice for Body Language either. |
Borhap80 07.12.2005 17:34 |
THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A DREAM This would have been a tremendous set list and absolutely do-able: 01 - REACHING OUT (Paul) 02 - TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN(Paul) 03 - MEDLEY - SOMEBODY TO LOVE - KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE - OGRE BATTLE - STONE COLD CRAZY 04 - FAT-BOTTOMED GIRLS (Paul) 05 - WISHING WELL (Paul) 06 - ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST (Paul) 07 - CRAZY THING CALLED LOVE (Paul) 08 - BAD COMPANY (Paul) 09 - WHITE MAN 10 - SEAGULL (Paul) 11 - 39 12 - IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED 13 - LOVE OF MY LIFE (Brian) 14 - HAMMER TO FALL (Brian & Paul) 15 - FIRE AND WATER (Paul) 16 - I'M IN LOVE WITH MY CAR (Roger) 17 - UNDER PRESSURE 18 - BRIGHTON ROCK/GUITAR SOLO 19 - LAST HORIZON 20 - THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES (Roger) 21 - RADIO GA-GA (Roger & Paul) 22 - FEEL LIKE MAKING LOVE (Paul) 23 - I WANT IT ALL (Paul) 24 - CAN'T GET ENOUGH (Paul) 25 - BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (Freddie & Paul) 26 - NOW I'M HERE (Rodgers) ENCORE 27 - THE SHOW MUST GO ON (Paul) 28 - ALL RIGHT NOW (Paul) 29 - WE WILL ROCK YOU (Paul & Brian & Roger - each a verse) 30 - WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS (Paul) 31 - GOD SAVE THE QUEEN America wants hard rock from Queen, and it's a crime to leave out the following numbers: Now I'm Here Stone Cold Crazy Keep Yourself Alive White Man (Innuendo??? Too hard for Rodgers I've heard..Roger could have sung it???) What do you think? |

Same is for SOMEBODY TO LOVE, but i think Paul would be able to manage that one. At WE WILL ROCK YOU i would like Roger to do just a verse not the whole thing. If they would stomp ther feet and clap their hands togerhter with all the fans they wouldn't even need drums on it ;) It's quite probable for HEADLONG to make an appereance on the set list. I toyed with that for quite a few hours then dropped it and displaced it in favor of PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE. IT'S LATE would be a very nice surprize, but as all other ones as HEADLONG, KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE, NOW I'M HERE, TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN, etc. it's a Brian Song. The first tries at the set list i had, were more like Brian May & Paul Rodgers that Queen & Paul Rodgers ;) |

I'm quite sure Roger could manage to sing INNUENDO, but i can't see Paul drumming on that one :p Your Medley seems to look interesting at first sight, but i don't think the songs you chose would match perfectly. You can't really mix a ballad like SOMEBODY TO LOVE into the other three ones. If you personally would be able to arrange that, i'd very much like to hear it ;) |

Sportzfan76 08.12.2005 10:20 |
I'll tell you what songs I can do without - Rock You (slow) and Champions. These two songs have ended every single show since 1977. From all the Queen shows I've attended through all the recorded concerts, I find these two songs to be really boring and uneventful for me. I would love to see some creativity and fresh ideas in the encore(s)! |
rogertaylor88 08.12.2005 11:41 |
yes, it's a bit boring..... |
shootingstar 08.12.2005 14:29 |
But along those same lines, do you still find Rock You and Champions to be boring with Paul singing them? I agree--they have been played sooooo many times, but personally, I kind of like Paul's interpretation of Champions. I think it is one of the better ones from the tour, actually. Rock You--not so much. As far as some changes go, throw in these (some of them are a gigantic stretch)-- Sleeping on the Sidewalk (already rehearsed) One Vision (already rehearsed--this might be tested, although I'm not a huge fan of the track...) Somebody to Love White Man Dragon Attack Fire and Water (bring it back) Bad Company (keep it) Seagull (it's America--people will know this) Shooting Star (haha) Mr. Big Heartbreaker (perhaps the biggest stretch of them all, but this would fit in with Queen's catalogue) Rock and Roll Fantasy-- I'm sorry, but this was HORRENDOUS in New Jersey. Maybe it worked at other gigs, but this one sucked--I wouldn't mind seeing it go on its merry way. If they throw in some major changes such as these, I'd say a second DVD release of this project would be in the cards to balance a potential studio album. |
rogertaylor88 09.12.2005 12:35 |
Well, good new songs, but I think that other songs would fall of the set list, mostly if you want to put all those songs. I also like rock you and champions but I would put all right now the last one after champions or maybe no one but you... |
Fenderek 14.12.2005 06:53 |
I'd prefer things like "Mr Big" or especially "Heavy Load" than Bad Company tracks... |
shootingstar 14.12.2005 11:42 |
Fenderek--absolutely. Frankly, in a perfect world, I would have QPR set aside an additional night a couple of times in a few of the major cities whereby they do a "nostalgia" show--playing some of the best (musically), generally lesser known material from both Queen's and Paul's catalogues. Some of the greatest material from both catalogues hasn't been played in years. Knowing that Paul is limited by a general want of the people to play his "hits" and that he has a true desire to play some of those "masterpiece" works which get no airtime, coupled with Brian and Roger's inkling to try new things, that would be unbelievable. I see absolutely no reason why they can't have a rolling setlist, sporadically trying and bringing out some of Queen's best material as well as some of those spine-chilling Free songs. This was originially an experiment, QPR. Now that they have fine-tuned the songs which sound best and have the essential confidence--and general support from the fans--why the hell can't this happen? We may never get to hear this stuff sounding as good as it can (given the circumstances) ever again. I long for the day when classic rock gets its due renaissance--such a setup could be a catalyst (with proper promotion) to get it started. Queen covers by bands today are happening all over the place. This is good. Paul got a crappy cover of Feel Like Makin' Love from Kid Rock. A nice gesture, really, but I thought that sucked. I will agree, the majority of Paul's material from Bad Company is far less technically sound than the bulk of Queen's songs--when juxtaposed with each other, this distinction is clearly evident. Yet, such was the beast of Bad Company songs--the simplicity somehow really hit home. While QPR's spin on that material makes it that much better (mainly Bri's playing), some essence of that Bad Co material is still lost in some fashion. Play that more technical, gritty Free back catalogue to really complement Queen's songs. And, get out those said Queen songs from the past to make this upcoming tour surreal. If someone disagrees with me, I want to hear it. I know this is SO far-fetched, but in some sort of way, the possibility and chance of this type of thing happing, albeit small, certainly exists. |
FriedChicken 14.12.2005 16:46 |
I expect: Somebody to Love, Sleeping on the Sidewalk, Is this the World we Created. And an extra Paul song |
ggo1 14.12.2005 16:49 |
If I think about it seriously, the only song I'm absolutely sure that Paul rodgers would nail is It's Late. That would be a perfect addition as far as I'm concerned. as for the rest, I just hope if they change it up, its not too heavy on Pauls material. I think they got the balance right in Europe, people arent paying all this money to see Paul, they are paying it to see Queen. Here in Canada Under Pressure is played constantly on the radio so I wouldnt be surprised to see that, after all they did play it a couple of times but some of the other big radio hits that they havent been playing, such as Killer Queen and Keep Yourself alive I just cant imagine Paul singing. Truth is, as far as radio is concerned, Queen finished with Under Pressure, I've lived here 8 years and I've only ever heard 3 tracks from The Works onwards on classic rock radio. I want It All, Hammer to fall and Thank God It's Christmas which actually gets quite a few plays. Hammer to Fall gets played quite often at Ottawa Senators hockey games though! Oh and I have seen Radio Ga ga on video a few times, I think it was maybe a bigger hit in Canada than in the US. |

I'm hoping Paul Rodgers additions to the Set List this tour will be: Burning Sky - Bad Company Live for the Music - Bad Company Radioactive - The Firm Saving Grace - Paul Rodgers Satisfaction Garanteed - The Firm Running with the Pack - Bad Company Rock n Roll Fantasy - Bad Company I'm looking forward to seeing Queen and Paul Rodgers at Nassau Coliseum. I saw Paul with The Firm there in 1986! |
