I think that it wasnt right that there wasnt anything interesting new on Freddie Mercury and he wasnt mentionaed at all on his anniversary? If you think so aswell please sign here so that i know i am not alone!!!!
Sorry Becca, but I have a hang up with this sort of thing. Why should we celebrate the death of Freddie?
As Brian May said at the Tribute concert, "We are here today to Celebrate the LIFE of Freddie Mercury".
So in my mind, celebrate his birthday:
"Happy Birthday to you,
"Happy Birthday to you,
"Happy Birthday Dear Freddie,
"Happy Birthday to you".
Not his DEATH day:
"Happy Death day to you,
"Happy Death day to you,
"Happy Death day Dear Freddie,
"Happy Death day to you
For me, a quiet glass of wine (alone or with friends) is suffice.
Therefore public celebrations or releases should be on the Monday closest to his actual birthday. The only reason Queen material is released at 'this' time, is that late November is close to the Xmas market, so the actual chances of recordings being released near his birthday are quite slim.

My thoughts exactly. November 24 marks a Terrible, sad day. Nothing to celebrate. Would you celebrate the death of a family member or loved one? I think not. I can barely even get through the dates of the deaths of my parents.
I only celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries of friends, etc, Happy times and occasions.
Yes I agree with John. I guess people talk so much about death anniversaries of famous people, and more seldom of their birthdays. But it's their birthdays that we should be celebrating!

i don´t know where you read from her post that she was talking about celebration
she was talking about remebering freddie on that day
that is not the same thing, and i don´t see anything weird about that
We 'commemorated' the day by listening to Innuendo
(-Delilah) and Made In Heaven (-You Don't Fool Me)
as we have done for years
We commemorate the passing of family members and friends on various days throughout the year. I do not 'celebrate' my parents deaths, and will never 'celebrate' Freddie's, or JFK's, or RFK's, or MLK's, or......

I kind of do celebrate death days (of family members and a few special celebrites) because I see it as the start of a new "life" or freedom for the spirit. so celebrating someones death day really isnt disrespectful.
To celebrate this year, I watched Wembley 1986 and drank a bottle of champagne.
Well, it was mentioned in the Nelson Evening Mail in the "this day in history".
One thing i have to add is, there is this radio station over here called solid gold. every year they do a john lennon tribute BUT NEVER ANYTHING FOR FREDDIE. for gods sakes, they even did one on geroge harrison the day after freddies passing! (this year i mean) WHAT THE HELLS WITH THAT!
