one of my mates is a springsteen fan and ive seen the born to run 30 anniversary edition. it has the album in remasterd form, a making of disc with the stories as to how it was made and a dvd live show from 1975. why do we queen fans get the album with a new cover and pretend videos for songs?? im glad i didnt get too excited about the ANATO edition |

The Boss rules... King Fred died way too soon!!! Fred would have done it with style... givin' people what they want for their hard earned money! Brian and Rog are only cashing in... substandard products... it´s all about making big bucks, suckin´the fans one more time before going to heaven... or maybe hell?!? ... Of course, at least one or two more dates in the US in 2006... ...so go and get your tix for 200 bucks "People of Detroit"... ...but get them before your factory closes down... it´s all "driven by you".. and only YOU! PS: Only quality pays off in the end and stand the test of time! ;-) |

if freddie were still alive he probably wouldnt give two shillings about old releases like the 30th Anniversary ANATO or old concerts. If the record company decided to release them I doubt Freddie wouldn't care short of them taking a dump oiin a dvd box and releasing that. I say that cause I feel Freddie would be for releasing high quality NEW music and if he had it his way the back catalogue wouldnt get glorified re-releases. |

If Freddie were still alive he probably wouldn't even re-release 'Bohemian Rhapsody', he said he didn't like to write or even think about after. But you never know. |

I picked it up today. I think it was well worth it. Its a hell of a lot better than Queen 2. ROTC and ANATO are really good. *Expects flames* |

Well I cannot comment - I got my discs in the post yesterday from CD Wow (UK) and i live in Australia - and when it arrived it had NO damn DVD in it, but two audio discs !! And it seems I am not the only one to have had this happen. So EMI are definately asleep in the packing plant I think? LOL |

My father just bought it for me for Christmas. Springsteen is an acquired taste. |

you have to check the The Cure re-editions, each album comes with an aditional CD with rarities demos and other stuff from the recording sessions... for example, Three Imaginary Boys, Cure's first album, comes with a 20 song cd, featuring a lot of rarities from the album... 20 songs!!!... and, we, queen fans, we deserve more than that, and what we got?... |
Lemmy 26.11.2005 03:11 |
well, there's the 30th of ADATR soon... maybe QP might do something better on that one (April Fool's) |

Why don´t they bring DVD-A´s from all the other albums? A day at the races or Jazz would be great. ANATO again and again, its getting boring... But it all fits to gether, the making-cash-only- tour with a medium RnR singer, Long live Queen!!!! But Queen is history, thats a fact, and no Paul Rodgers and 3rd. ANATO can change that. Just bringing some(excellent!) footage from Earls Court and Houston in Death on two legs, the rest is more or less well known, even partly obsolet. Come on Brian and Roger: you created a lot more than ANATO, so for the start I would say: first JAZZ DVDA, then News of the World DVDA etc. But I am afraid, they come up with the 20th anniversary of Wembley with a "brandnew" Special Edition next year. |

Rip Van Winkle wrote:The DVD-A is great, but this new mix is even better IMHO. The volume is much better (for example the piano intro of Death On Two Legs). And the voices are much louder, really great. But I love both versions.<font color=green>Rick wrote:I thought the consensus was that this DVD-A is inferior (especially the Prophet Song) to the previous DVD-A (which Brian oversaw).Fairy wrote: So guys, do you think it is worth getting? For the sound yes. |

I never did get that ANATO special edition... And I don't intend to buy it either. :P I did however get that Born To Run box set for christmas, and I'm now listening to the album for the seventh time... I never knew how good that album was. |

After putting off watching the dvd at all for about two weeks, (i got it for my birthday)after all the critiscism it's received on here, I put it on and was pleasantly surprised. There are no rarities, it is true but I think very devoted fans have to realise that these things are issued to make money (or EMI would refuse to issue it at all) and is more aimed towards the main market than people who have nearly every bootleg, outtake, interview in existence. This is no offence to the hardcore fans as I think it's safe to say most people on here must be pretty damn interested to take the time to visit the site at all. However, some people have said it's a waste of time putting on the concert footage on the dvd as everyone's already seen it but that's only true if you are a collector who knows their way around the internet download sites and/or has the money to pay for such things. It may be true that the hub or QZ members already own these things as bootlegs but I have never seen it before and I download as much as I can (I don't have bitorrent)and have never seen this material before. In addition, I find the commentary fascinating and the non-concert videos such as Seaside Rendevous artistic and stylish. That isn't to say the re-release is without its faults. I think that some rarities and demos should have been included or perhaps some purely instrumental tracks but to say that it is crap I think is an exaggeration. That is my two pence, feel free to have a go! Whether |

Here is my genious idea everybody! If and only if you do not like the 30 year anniversary of A Night At The Opera, please do the following- 1. Shut up 2. Put it back in the box/bag/whatever the fuck it was in 3. Get the recipt 4. Go back to the store 5. Return it for cash IF 5 IS NOT AVAILABLE, SEE 5.B 5b. Get in-store credit 6. Buy something else |

Well, I have to say how surprised I was at this set. At first, I couldn't believe it was going to be released in the form it was reported as, but remained hopeful that it was being reported wrongly. Then it was all confirmed and released and I thought it was a real shame that it sounded like not very much. But I bought it for my brother's xmas and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as bad as it looks on paper. The great sounding remastered cd (at last!!), the 5.1 mix disc along with visuals plus commentary and the nice booklet and casing. It's nice to have and pleasant to watch and listen to. I would even go as far to say that on listening to the entire DTS 5.1 mix, I didn't really hear anything wrong with it. Though, I haven't compared it to the older 2002 DTS 5.1 mix, so I can't be 100% on that. And on those saying that there is no documentary included - I can only point them to the Classic Albums docu that Brian and Roger were involved in. Obviously, it was well worth leaving to the CA team as they've done a decent job. Even further on that is that it will be released on dvd early next year. So... I think the 30th anniversary release is actually pretty decent and fulfills what it intends to do. And the combination of that with the CA docu on tv and now for download here (till it becomes official material, of course), it sounds like they've done enough. A joke? Nah. The joke's on you for thinking like that. Peace, Adam. P.S. In fact, even more NATO goodness can be taken from both the BBC3 docu on BoRhap from last year AND the extra on BoRhap included with the GVH1 disc2. Jeez... when you think about what is out there, it really starts to build up. We're quite spoiled, in a way. |
Freya is quietly judging you. 27.12.2005 10:12 |
Why do people keep complaining about the 30th edition ANATO? i thought it was really good. People would have complained if they hadn't of marked the 30th anniversary and when they do all you can do is complain about it saying how bad it is you're so ungrateful... Rant over. |
Asterik 27.12.2005 11:53 |
No I think we have good cause to complain. Firstly Brian only discusses his songs in any detail and not Freddie's ones like Death On Two legs for example, there is little insight into how the songs were created or produced and the "videos" aren't very inspiring in the slightest. Queen should have released a concert from around that time a proper documnetary into how the album was made in conjunction with the work itself. This package certainly falls short of honouring what was a very fine album. |

I just watched it via rental from NetFlix. I liked it, especially the audio commentary of the four. There were a lot of still photos I had not seen before, and clips from concerts I had not seen before, especially Freddie in that snug white leotard. How anyone can dash about on stage in an outfit like that so unself-consciously is beyond me. So slender his hip bones jut out. I became a Queen fan in 2004. I bought an 8-cd set off of eBay which included ANATO. Oddly enough I had never played it because I was watching Queen's dvds. So, Sweet Lady, Seaside Rendezvous, the Prophet's Song, and Good Company were all new to me! '39 with Brian singing most of it in the later years is super. Love Of My Life is poorly edited as far as Freddie's clips go, but there is more piano in it, and the Red Special sounds great. (I'll have to go and listen to the cd to see if that was the original release sound.) Are those old-time, vaudeville-type, movie clips new to this anniversary edition, or had they been used before? They are new to me, and cleverly used. I am not so sure about those flames in front of the BoRhap visuals. BoRhap can stand on its own. In Brian's commentary he mentions that Queen had a great deal of humor in their songs and in the way Queen presented themselves., and that fans recognized the humor. I Want to Break Free video, yes, but otherwise - humor??? |

Quick question... To anyone who also has the 1991 Hollywood Records Digital Remaster cd, do you notice any differences between that and this version? |
