Hi everyone, Just letting you know that the petition to bring the QPR Tour to Australia is going well. We have had a couple of radio spots, some newspaper articles, and this week will be in the main Melbourne paper (circulation 1.5million - that's not bad for a city with a population of about 3 million!) We still need a few more signatures before we can progress to the next step, and this is where we need your help. I know some of you may think that a petition would be fruitless - why bother?? I will tell you why. The girl running this campaign, Isis (along with an evergrowing team of supporters), is working day and night, calling media, getting articles in the papers, being interviewed on radio, and calling in all contacts in a HUGE (and in my opinion, a very professional way). She is prepared to even spend her own money to do this!! She is inspirational! Even if you don't live in Australia, and maybe have no plans to come here (even if a tour goes ahead here), I hope you can take a moment - if you haven't already - and add your name to the petition. This is all we ask from you. While you are there, you can check out the aussie queens team profiles, and there is a great 24hr Queen radio link as a bonus! (one of our sponsors). For those of you who have, and are supporting our quest, I thank you so much, and hope to see you lined up in the queue in Australia real soon!! Cheers, and thanks Karen |

Does anyone have any comments? I hope you have just read this and gone straight to the website, and don't feel any need to comment? We need signatures TODAY - the deadline is near!! Please Queen friends - lets pull together and make this happen!! Thanks again Karen |

You really want me to comment? |
karen 21.11.2005 18:06 |
No, if you can't say anything positive, I would prefer you keep it to yourself. We need support at this stage. Thanks |

im not from Ausi can i sign anyway? |

ThanksWhat you prefer isn't important, nor anyone else who's behind this "campaign." Queen and Paul will come there if there's money to be made. Appeal to the financial side of things and you might convince them. You can scream for them to tour there all you want but if they don't think it'll be worthwhile to undertake such an operation, you're screwed. Look at America. Lots of money to be made here but the guys were VERY unsure of the reaction they'd get, that's why they only did two shows. Since they both sold out, they'll come back next year. If you're lucky you might get a couple of "test" concerts to gauge reaction. I'd hope for that as a starter. |

international help is welcome, so yes anyone from anywhere can sign. |
Penetration_Guru 21.11.2005 18:52 |
Despite the fact that doing so renders the entire process laughably pointless. I love that fact that this is such a good idea (apparently) that it stands up to absolutely no objective scrutiny. |
Penetration_Guru 21.11.2005 18:53 |
Also, could we have more facts please? deadline date & number of mickey mouse signatures required would be useful examples.... |

Penetration_Guru wrote: Also, could we have more facts please? deadline date & number of mickey mouse signatures required would be useful examples....I am only a supporter - I am not privy to all the facts and behind the scenes work. All I know is that lots of people are working hard to make this a possibility. We are not appealing to Brian and Roger directly - they know where we are, and yes, whether they want to come or not is up to them in the end. We are appealing to promoters (I believe). Sorry, I dont have any more details. Does it matter to you how many signatures we have - or how many we need?? Even I don't know how many we have - all I know is we have a deadline (not sure when), and I am doing every thing in my power to get the word out. I believe in what Isis is doing. If you want more details, then check out her posts in queenonline, in the aussie pub. Go on, the drinks are on Isis. Thanks for your interest. |

yea i was going to say i dont see a lot of people located in Aussi on QZ (judging by the profiles) |

Mr Allred. Get a life, does it really bother you if someone outside OZ helps out a good cause. Guys and Gals. Sign up from wherever you are. |

Anyone living outside of Australia that signs up for anything related to this will only undermine it's credibility and that's the truth. It doesn't help your cause, it hurts it. Sit down and think about it. |

Mr allred. No need for language like that (who is being sensitive?). We are all on the same side... |

One wonders sometimes at the quality (let alone maturity - and I'm not talking chronologically here) of some of the posters. We have the usual attack attack attack of the dear old Guru (whose inane chatterings have afforded me (and others) much amusement over time) - nothing is ever good enough, nothing is ever fine unless it is in his/her/its own court. Perhaps they wish to keep Queen to themselves, hoarding like a miser? Or perhaps that it is simply because they have no ideas or quality in themselves that they have to belittle other's efforts? Maybe it is because they have a firm belief that their opinon actually matters. Sorry old chap, but it doesn't. Your reputation precedes you and it is not one that any one would wish to have. (By the way there are others far worse, it is just that I remember you best from the past: enjoy the acerbic humour as I know you will). Queen only perform for money. Well DUH of course they do - it is their job. Certainly they have a lot of money and a lot more coming in, but it still costs money to tour and they have to replace that otherwise they will end up just complaining on boards like these all day and night. However, what several people who seem to frequent these boards a little more than is healthy should realise, is that 1) In order to make money you need an audience. 2) In order to see whether an audience is viable or not you have to find out who would actually still go to a Q+PR concert. 3) Aside from door knocking, the petition is the easiest way. Australia is not America - there are only 20 million people here. More in London and a hell of a lot more in New York. You can't do a test concert here as you can in USA where you are guaranteed a full audience just through sheer weight of numbers. So we need to show that there is support. And for whomever it was who said that overseas signees would invalidate - have you been to a Queen Concert? How many are local, how many travel from overseas? Have you read (or complained/disparaged/whatever it is you do) the comments on the Aruba concert where many concert goers were from overseas, not local. Of course it doesn't invalidate it. Is there support, yes. Will they come, maybe. Would they have come if Isis and people like her had sat on their collective "I've been a Queen Fan for X years and so I know everything about them" rears so I won't bother because a) there isn't enough money there and b) they will/won't come anyway? Some times long-term fans (and I count myself one of them being a fan for 31 years) lose track of the realities. Whether you followed them from pre-Queen, or whether you came in because of We Will Rock You musical is totally (insert swear word here) irrelevant. Yeah, I have all the albums, and the little bits of fan tat, and all the concerts in multiple formats that seem so important, yeah so I have over 400GB of Queen music of one form or other and I know the translation to Mustapha (the real one not the one on the web - it's not Arabic guys (nor is it Zoroastrian), and I know the history of each and everyone down to their goddamn shoe size: So flamin' what! I didn't get off my rear and try: just sat back and complained that we weren't included, Isis with her three years did and with a passion that leaves some of you forum hogs for dead. A fan is not based on Age, nor on amount of time, nor even on the number of Queen items owned or how many Concerts you sat in the front row of (hence denying anyone else of course...) but on the passion and belief you have in the band. If that belief extends to 'come out to Australia because we can't come to you' then so be it. Who are any of you to disparage that? Who cares who any of you are who do disparage that. If you don't want to sign - don't - no one is forcing you to. If you live overseas and don't think it will do any good, then so what: keep to your own ideas of insularity? I don't happen to think a lot of things oversea |
Penetration_Guru 04.12.2005 12:58 |
Gender neutral?????? ok, with regard to overseas attendees, it's a bit different to compare Europeans hopping a couple of hundred miles, or American going to Aruba with people making the trek to the (indupitably) remote Antipodea...plus if the Aussies feel that strongly about people being able to travel, why the hell didn't they go to Japan? I know you may think I'm automatically negative about everything, which surprisingly isn't true. I even welcome the thought through arguments you propose (makes a change from the witless abuse I usually get for being the voice of (admittedly limited) reason), but I do feel I have tried in the case of this issue to remain logical and not be personal. I haven't even remarked on the absence of further updates since the announcement of new US dates and no Australian ones..... |

Hello, I wish you all the best really.I have already signed the petition.Queen live in Puebla, México 1981 was a superb experience in my life which I treasure in my heart.I hope a whole lotta fans worldwide have the opportunity to enjoy such magical moments soon. Love, Zey |

Thanks for all your comments Icarus Falls. Stringrmagical - thank you for your support also. I think it is Ok to say here (because it has been said publicly in other places), that we do have the support of the Queen Management, and Paul Rodgers has also replied to an email from Isis, supporting what we are doing. We know what we are doing is having an impact - there is a team working bloody hard at it. Oh, by the way, some of the bands that have chosen to come to our far flung country recently (or in the future) include Foo Fighters, U2, Green Day, 50 Cent, Coldplay, Motley Crue, John Butler Trio........ |
