Recently, I was looking through the program from the Meadowlands show on 10/16.
In one of the photos of Roger playing, he's holding the left stick backwards and you can see the base of the stick. They are Vic Firth sticks, signature series. On the Vic Firth website, it states that he uses the model 5B, mentioning nothing about a signature series. Does anyone know who's signature sticks he uses???
He has his own name printed on them for him just as he did when he used Premier sticks, not sure if they are available to buy yet.

you can buy Vic Firths in the in your local drum shop, i did, really good sticks! mine are 5Bs aswell, nice weight, and make a nice sound :D they are cheap sticks but very good!
I agree. They're really good sticks and I also agree about the weight. Mine are 5A and like Roger I've always played the sick in my left hand backwards. To me it feels like even weight and you get a better whack out of the snare.
Pople a Question , there are two version of the Vic Firth 5b, there are one with the nylon protected head, and the other is the all wood made, is this different in the sound, do Roger uses the all wood made?
the expression was 5BN NYLON TIP and the 5BN wood tip.. I always use bad english, I think that Ziljian Drumsticks are very cool, but a little bit expensive

Roger uses the wood made ones. He usually turns them round and is hitting the drums with the back end. That and the fact that he is very sensibly controlling his sticks is astounding! I adore his style and I think he's the only drummer to do so.
i got some nylon tips, jsut for variety of sound, but vic firths are great!
yeh Roger only EVER uses wood made, top to bottom, the stick he used for the hi-at he uses the right way round, and the main hittin stick for the snare, he has the other way round, if you try it, you will see you get a MUCH deeper sound hoding your stick the other way round, but it doesnt work too well for the snare, does for songs like GaGa, i like rogers technique but i cant control them likle he does, knacks my wrist, and i DEF cant control em with my index finger like he does, amazing rogers technique!
His tecnique is GREAT!! not only in Radio Ga Ga, its on Dragon Attack, Keep yourself alive, and the other song, I want play like Roger!! It would be great!!

Plenty of drummers use their snare stick reversed - Roger is by far not the only drummer to do this.
He used to play Premier CC sticks, so naturally when I started playing I went out and bought them, when they seemed to disappear from the stores years later it was a real pain, I was slightly surprised when I saw he switched to 5B Vic Firth becuase they are a lot bigger and fatter, however they are really nice to play with and I found they gave me less blisters.
