I'm having dental surgery on Monday, Nov. 28th (this month, obviously), to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. I'm going to be taking at least 3 days off of work, since I'll practically be drugged up and out of it for a bit. Hopefully this surgery won't be as bad as I think. So wish me luck, everyone! (And if any of yas had your wisdom teeth removed, please share your experiences, thanks in advance) |

When I see dentist - I jump into my car and drive away as fast as it possibly ;) Wish you luck! |

It's not that bad but I would not let them take out all four in one session if I were you. It's better to have them removed on one side and when you can chew on this side again have the other two removed. It's unnecessary to have such a big surgery. You won't be able to eat properly for weeks which is unhealthy. |

Dental surgeries are child's play. Now everyone quits being a pussy and takes it like an inmate from behind. With pride. I've had six surgically removed, three on both occasions. The operation doesn't hurt, the aftermath is that you feel like you've been butchered. Just get used to swallowing your own blood, else you'll bleed like a pig. Oh and my surgeon was kind enough to overdo with the anesthetic shots so I was severel numb and looked paralyzed from other side of my face for hours. All I can say is that my blood tastest terrible and with two surgeries it was a bummer that just when I had gotten the other side to heal I had another appointment for removals... |

I haven't had any wisdom teeth out but when I was younger I had eleven teeth out in one go. Can't say it was the best experience I've ever had. What I would say is that I'd never get the gas again. The nightmares you have with that stuff are just awful. Anyway, good luck and keep smiling...maybe not. |

My son is having his out next month too! I had the easiest wisdom teeth extraction known to man, I think. Went in that morning, was put under, had them pulled, went home, rested awhile, and then later that night went out for supper (crab legs, yum!) with my boyfriend (now my husband). Had very little pain, no swelling, nothing. Absolutely nothing to it. Everyone was amazed. Anyway, good luck to you! :-) |

Had mine out long time ago. The first two days are uncomfortable but just keep taking Tylenol 3s and you will be in la la land and you wont care. |

I had four removed at once and survived. They had to pulverize the top two teeth and remove the pieces. I only missed one week of work. I don't remember it being that bad. I don't remember pain, but I remember play with blood clots with my tongue, and I remember being able to eat, but not chewing twoard the back of my mouth. I remember being more miserable with chicken pox. |

Yeah, the surgeon's office said I had to take 3 Advil Regular Strength tablets the night before (for a total of 600mg), and then some after the surgery, as well as painkillers (I think). I can't take my normal Celexa medication the day of the surgery, and 36 hours afterwards. (And this is the antidepressant medication that controls my anger). My Dad's going to have to drive me to and from the office (obviously), so it shouldn't be too bad for me, hopefully. |

Oh, and let me know if it hurts! Half my friends say that it went smoothly and the other half say that it hurts quite a bit. |

She said that she was basically in there and done with the surgery quickly (of course, her girlfriend still had to drive her home, I think). She said it didn't bother her much. I remember talking to her about it when I was visiting her last month, but I can't remember too much about that conversation. And yes, when I'm feeling well enough (or when I've recovered enough from the drugs) to type, I will let you know how I'm feeling. I just hope I don't die (for whatever reasons). But if you guys don't hear from me by Dec. 5th at the latest, you'll know why :P |

Hi everyone! It's been 7 hours since my surgery. I'm feeling fine. All they did before the actual surgery was hook my left hand to an IV with saline water, for a few minutes, and then I was given the anesthetic (I think), for which I closed my eyes and counted down from 10 to 1 (which is the last number I counted to before being knocked out) in my head, while I felt my body just REALLY 'drop' and relax, and I felt like I was waiting 20 minutes for them to 'just get started', but when I came to, I was wide awake in the recovery room, with the surgery already having been done and over with. It was cool, I have to say for those of you who have never been put under anesthesia, to have been put to sleep. It wasn't bad at all. Rather quick, actually, and I EMPTHASIZE "quick"! I don't like needles to tell you the truth (but then, who does? Aside from crack addicts, that is... :P ), but it wasn't bad really. I just had to breathe deeply when the nurse put the IV in my hand, and while I WAS awake, I was afraid to look at it, but shortly before I was put to sleep, I looked at it and thought it wasn't too bad actually. :P When I got up, though, this was where I noticed the back of my left leg (below the kneecap) was really hurting, as if I'd pulled a muscle (which has happened before), but I was told it was an effect from the anesthesia, and that it would maybe only last up to a day or two. Right now it feels fine, but when I was "walking" to the pharmacy right from the parking lot, I had to limp, and I didn't like doing that in front of my dad (who had driven me to and from the surgeon's office, since I wasn't allowed to even take the bus home), but at least he knew what pain I was going through, so I didn't get questioned. Another thing that bothered me this evening (and ONLY for this evening), since I canNOT stand having objects in my mouth, was the gauze I had to have clenched between the operated areas. It made me feel queasy, and I *nearly* threw up when I did the last change of fresh gauzes, cos THAT's how much I cannot stand having things in my mouth. Luckily I didn't. What pisses me off though is that I cannot have food that breaks up into hard, sharp pieces, like peanuts, popcorn, chips, etc. for TWO MONTHS! Aargh! At least I'll be able to resume having subs at work, and McDonald's. Well, I think that's enough for now. Just thought I wanted to sum it up and let you guys all know that it went very well, and that I'm feeling fine for the most part. One of the best things is that I'm able to take a week off work and stay at home, which is a much-needed break for me anyways, since I badly need to get some things done which I've put off too long. And to answer the question of whether it hurt or not, from the above post: I didn't feel anything during the surgery since I was out cold, nor could I for a while (and still can't) cos anesthesia takes 24 hours to recover from. The gauzes, for me anyways, are uncomfortable and nauseating, but it's not too bad, cos I only had to do it for tonight. An advice though for those of you about to get dental surgery to remove teeth: BE SURE to sleep with a towel over your pillows and bedsheets for the first couple or few nights, cos there's always a likely chance that you'll get a little blood on your sheets, since it takes a few days for bleeding to entirely stop (the major bleeding should only be on the day and evening of the surgery, hence the need of gauzes to clot the bleeding). PS. Forgive me if I spelled "anesthesia" wrong. I'm too lazy to use a dictionary :P |

You are supposed to go every 6 months for a routine check up. I just saw from your profile you are from Louisville. You're also home schooled. Something wrong with the Kentucky Department of Education? |

Detective Lisser, eh? I've had one filling and a couple of jobs to repair a chipped tooth at the front but it never works because my tongue gets in the way of it. Plus..if they were to replace it my mouth would feel very silly. Also I must mention 'Take luck!' 'Good care!' Heh, Brian Regan. Funniest person ever. |

Good dental care is essential to good speech, being able to smile, eat, etc. If a child can't smile because of rotten teeth, it breaks my heart. I see it here every day. |
