Well, first off, 50 Cent himself has done nothing. Some people have taken his vox and put them over some Queen songs, and mixed them a bit. A someone who has the mental capacity to like more music than Queen, I can say that it's actually quite good. Maybe not as impressive as the Grey Album (Jay-Z's Black Album mixed with the Beatles White Album), but it's still pretty good, in my opinion. But I expect to get shouted at for saying all of the that! |
That guy who digs energy domes 18.11.2005 09:19 |
Yeah, most of the remixed songs blow. Even worse is the "Boom Boom Clap" song. Could they plagarise WWRY any better? Last, listen to that song by something like Weeser, the backround sounds like WWRY-Fast. Where the hell do they get off on that? |
GreatKingSam 18.11.2005 10:09 |
Some people do not seem to understand the concept of some of these things. They do not make this music with the intention of ripping it off and pissing people off etc. They do is becuase they want to, becuase they like it. Sometimes they do stuff because they are fans, or becuase they want to pay tribute, or simply becuase they like the sound of it. Some of you need to get over it. |
mystic_rhythms 18.11.2005 10:57 |
I agree, some people just don't get it. First off, it's not like 50 Cent intentionally did these songs. As it was said earlier, people mixed his songs with classic Queen tracks. However the idea does sound a bit...gruesome :p Second, The Weezer song you're probably talking about is "Beverly Hills", from their latest album Make Believe. Yes, it does have the classic "boom boom clap" beat, but they intentionally wanted it to have that sound. I read in an interview with lead singer Rivers Cuomo that they were advised by legendary producer Rick Rubin to come up with a WWRY kind of beat for one of their songs on their latest album. Sure enough, it was this song. So technically, they're not ripping off Queen just by emulating the classic WWRY beat. Now if they sampled it in some crappy song, then yes, that would be ripping off Queen. |

Here's why: The "Boom Boom Clap" song you mention , also named Beverly Hills has a beat that tho similar sounding to We Will Rock You is extremely different at the same time. There is an extra clap sound and its slightly off tempo. Did they copy em , I don't think so. I believe this was a mere coincidence and not meant for anyone to have taken offence to. If anything the whole album "make believe" has very signifigant tributes to Queen in many various ways I think you guys should listen more closely. Just the style and chemistry these guys have alone is enough to make me shiver just as much as Queen does. So ya ... putting Weezer in a topic with 50 cent ruining Queen songs to me is a definate no no. And for another person who ruined Queen songs see also: Vanilla Ice. |
That guy who digs energy domes 18.11.2005 16:04 |
The "Boom Boom Clap" song is a rap song by god knows who but it literally says "Boom Boom Clap" as the lyrics. All of these people need to come up with their own shit and stop leeching off of Queen. |

I thought that it was quite good. The biggest mistake with sampling is usually that too much of the original song is used. But they used just the right amounts of short clips here and a lot of them were pretty good. "crazy Little Pimp Called Love" was really funny as well. I think that I liked the "Another One Bites the Dust" mix the most though. |

This conversation is just too funny to not comment on. I am the guy that remixed the Q-Unit album. Yes, it is true. Now before you go and think this is not the guy, and just some random guy, if you want proof, email me at the address on link saying you don't think its me, and i'll reply, its me. Just wanted to point out a few things, since everyone is jumping to conclusions in here. First of all, I love Queen...in fact, i think they were the first artist i owned a cassette tape of. So, in no way am i trying to "ruin" Queen's music. I've loved their music for a very long time. And i think i did an ok job on mentioning that in the fact that i mentioned their name being a part of the project. As for why i did this, more or less just for fun i suppose. I wasn't trying to piss anyone off, infact i thought i did an ok job on bringing out Queens musical talent. Maybe if you are a person that isn't in to rap music, i can see you thinking this is disgusting. And thats not a problem, but that doesn't mean i "ruined" anything. I think i would use the word "recycled" instead. Not that Queen needs to be thrown out or anything, but now a bunch of new people that havn't been exposed to their music may become interested in it and want the original songs. Unless you guys in here that detest Q-Unit just want Queen to yourselves??? In my point of view, if anything, sampling just keeps artists that may be lost in the void of time exposed to fresh faces. You don't have to like it, I'm certainly not making any money off of it (if anything, losing money because i'm paying for the server). I just did it for fun and really didn't imagine it getting as much exposure as it did. And for those of you who havn't heard it yet and are just disgusted with the idea....download it, give it a shot, you may like it. i am soo mad i can barely put a the words together to say why. Basically I hate rap and Hip Hop, it is destroying rock. But original rap and hip hop i can cope with, they are different people to me and like different music and i can accept that. when they steal other peoples songs and rap over the top of them, i get really mad. IMO covers in general are not a great idea. a cover should only be made if you want to pay tribute to that song or artist or if you think you can make a better version of it (most attempts to do this turn out horrible, althought 'Knocking On Heavins Door by GNR is an example of a good cover"). But these are not even covers we are talking about! these are stolen background music rapped over! if they are too lazy to think of their own songs then they shouldn't make any songs. recently the i was almost sick when i heard the riff to back in black on the radio, rapped over. Then I heard a hip hop song with the chorus stolen from U2s I still haven't found what i'm looking for. and now they've got to queen, i am dissapointed to say the least. |

This is an interesting mash album. I like parts of it more than others, but the production is excellent. Posting it here was a brave move. I like Queen (grew up listening to them), and I'm a big rap fan, but I imagine most hardcore Queen fans will find it hard to accept the originality of what you've done. Personally , i think its their loss . |
The notorious LOL 21.11.2005 22:01 |
And regarding copyright and "ruining queens music". Well... Most record labels don't really give a toss providing you're not making any money from it. If anything it gives their artists more exposure for free. Imagine how much money would be made if all the 50 cent fans who never heard any Queen , suddenly went out and bought their albums after hearing this. Also you haven't ruined their music. If you don't like what you hear i suggest you don't let it ruin your day. The original Queen songs are still intact for anyone to listen to. So whats the problem? Go listen to them instead Y'know. And it's pretty stupid to get abusive because you don't like the sounds coming out of your speakers. |

Queen Of Wrestling... You clearly do not have a clue about what you are talking? Exactly - Freddie said they were going to do a few songs in the funk/black category. The operative word being FUNK, not hip-hop (funk is also a black orientated genre). You're an idiot. You clearly cannot seem to understand that just becuase you think something is wrong or bad, it doesn't actually make it bad. Opinions are opinions, they can't be wrong, but it doesn't make them right either. You think wrestling is good, some think it is bad - but who is right and who is wrong? Neither. But i don't have the time to waste with that bullshit. If you don't like Q-unit...then DON'T LISTEN TO IT..damn, is that so hard? I didn't even ASK 'queen of wrestling' to listen to it, hell, i don't even want you to listen to it. I didn't make it for you. I made it for people that appreciate it. I'm not shoving anything down your opinionated throat... Secondly, its not my problem if you don't like hip-hop. I'm not going to pull my album down and trash it because one guy is throwing a fit about it. If everyone did that, THERE WOULD BE NO MUSIC. There is not one artist out there that everyone, and i mean EVERYBODY would agree they like. There'd be no cd's in music stores because if one person didn't like the cd, they'd pull it off the shelf, never to be sold again. I didn't ruin anything. If you go back to your Queen cd collection, you'll notice nothing has changed. All the music is still there. You really aren't doing well on changing peoples stereotypical thoughts on wrestlers either, looking like a complete moron not knowing what you are talking about but trying to pretend to be smart about it. I know 8 year olds that can hold their composure together more than you. I don't mind being told that someone didn't like it, or wasn't into it, or whatever...because there is a ton a music that i don't like and i don't go crying about it. But you Queen of wrestling, you take it to the extreme with your protest of hatred towards something that can easily be ignored. Attacking Queen on a personal level? What are you their bodyguard now? I haven't attacked Queen, I love Queen...why the hell would i attack them? And how does taking the great music they made, re-arranging it and putting hip hop lyrics over it attacking anyone? Maybe you meant to say " You remixed Queen on a personal level" because i don't see where attack fits in to all of that. If you are just one of those people that HATE rap, then yes, this album is NOT for you, even if QUEEN is on it. This album is for the open minded and those who just like music for music. Its for people willing to explore different musical sounds. I know you have a "holier than thou" taste in music, and thats great, but calling me a pig fucker has nothing to do with music other than it shows you are childish with your anger and cannot develop a reasonable argument for any situation out of your control. THE SILENCE XPERIMENT PS: if i used any big words in this that you didn't understand, ask your "colledge" prof. for the definition. PSS: GreatKingSam, thanks for the support....i guess it shows why you are the King and he is the Queen |

wow. This is incredibly immature. And i'm 15! OK I hate rap more than...anything really. But you've just got to accept that it's there and although it's a sorry excuse for music, it's never going to go away. It will fade but it'll always be there (god help us) And don't get on that guy for producing it. Clearly he likes Queen. He sure knows the Queen fans (we're very picky. and don't like remixes. I know i don't) He's just doing his job, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Let him be, let him be! And i hate 50 Cent by the way. I wish he'd just crawl under a tree. I dislike him quite strongly. Oh and this is going to freak you guys out even more...i'm black and i worship Queen ;-) and i loathe and despise rap/hip hop. I'm an odd one aren't i? ok this was fun. I won't be at queenzone for a while...it's way to intense for me. |

GreatKingSam, go do a search online for "A Night At The Hip Hopera" for more rap-raped Queen tunes. ;) Queen of Wrestling, you seem to be going for the living embodiment of "Everyone is entitled to MY opinion." Or in this particular case, the Music Dictator. To each his own. Since it's HIGHLY unlikely that Queen will be coming out with any new tunes, in order to get my fix, I'm willing to download some remixes, demos, etc. |

I appreciate 50 Cent for trying to put a little hip hop into Queen, but it just doesn't work. It doesn't flow at all. It all seems kind of comical...I mean, that tracklist! You have to admit some of those track titles were a little corny and a good laugh. Candy Bottomed Girls...Ha! Just what we need, another song degrading women! And Hot Space wasn't really hip hop...Wasn't it more funky and soulful? Which is probably the same thing to everyone, but I find those two completely different. Cheers. |

1st amendment, I am free to express and press my opinion all I want. Everyone I've showed this to agrees that it is total BS and that if you wanted to show appreciation, you should have written your own song. Your word "remix" is a sugary version of copyright infringement. You simply used "sampling" to cover up "stealing". Not to mention you've perverted good songs with crap by 50 cent. Now tell me, were you excepted into a college while you were a sophomore in high school? Last, typo's are very easy to make on the freakishly slow computers at school so you know where you can shove that point. |
Suigi 22.11.2005 23:02 |
OK, to debunk you in order: "1st amendment, I am free to express and press my opinion all I want." The 1st Amendment does indeed cover the freedom of speech, but it doesn't cover forcing your opinion on others. That being said, it also means we can voice OUR opinions and hurl insults at you. Free country. "Everyone I've showed this to agrees that it is total BS and that if you wanted to show appreciation, you should have written your own song." Not everyone in this topic is agreeing this is total BS, hence the number of arguments against you, Music Dictator. Sieg heil! And as for writing my own song, I'm working on it. Look for lyrics to "I Wanna Be Like Freddie Mercury" sometime soon! "Your word "remix" is a sugary version of copyright infringement." No argument here, but there's nothing I like more than sticking it to the RIAA. "You simply used "sampling" to cover up "stealing"." Again, no argument. But then again, didn't John Deacon sample/steal the bass line from Good Times for AOBTD (or was it Under Pressure)? Within reason, and properly credited (which it is), a little sampling is OK. "Not to mention you've perverted good songs with crap by 50 cent." Mein Musik-Diktator, see my previous comment on this. You are not the final authority on music, hence your opinion counts the exact same as mine. And I think that although by itself, 50 Cent's music is indeed crap, Queen just makes it better, jawohl? Say! I think I hit on something! 50 Cent isn't ruining Queen's tunes; QUEEN IS MAKING 50 CENT'S MUSIC BETTER!!!! Just like Queen to do that. Back on track: "Now tell me, were you excepted into a college while you were a sophomore in high school?" Well...I'm actually taking a year off between high school and university (and a 90% academic average...don't know what GPA that is) to work for a while. And by the way...a few posts back, you said that you got into college via a wrestling scholarship. See? Right here on page 2: "Oh shit! Going to colledge[sic] off a wrestling scholarship is bad! Oh my god!..." Last time I checked, athletic scholarships are little evidence of intelligence, but then again, you might've just taken one too many German suplexes to the head. And finally, "Last, typo's are very easy to make on the freakishly slow computers at school so you know where you can shove that point." Erm, that's what PROOF-READING and THE FREAKIN' EDIT BUTTON are for. Fixing up your errors. And now I know how Al Franken feels after smacking around Bill O'Reilly. Congratulations! You've been debunked. Have a nice life, and stay away from the full-Nelsons, ok? |

Whomever suggested for me to download A Night At The Hip-Hopera - I've already got it. It's ok, but I prefer this, as I think Hip-Hopera was a little too confusing in places. If there is any one who isnt single minded and likes this, I suggest looking for The Grey Album by DJ Dangermouse (Jay-Z's Black Album and The Beatle's Whute Album). This is aboslute class. Maybe some will prefer this becuase they won't feel the connection with either of these artists that they do with Queen, so maybe they'll find it easier to express. And Silence Experiment, have you ever considered taking on a bigger project with this, similar to that of The Grey Album? For example, taking A Night At The Opera and A Day At The Races (as they are very similar albums) and taking the best maybe 10 or 12 songs from the two albums and remixing them with perhaps a selection of the Shady/Aftermath family? e.g. using 50 Cent as well as Eminem, The Game, maybe some Dre etc? |

I do, however, find it important to move certain people out of a phase called "denial." Usually, I'd never do this, but somehow I think he'll take a lot of offense to it. ==================== Queen Of Wrestling's profile: I like Running (No-contact sport: Gay), Queen (Probably fantasizes over frontman: Gay), Wrestling (Enjoys grappling with men in spandex: I'll leave this up to the judges), Queen (Still gay), My cover Band, "Princes of the Universe" (Sounds remarkably similar to the homoerotic "Masters of the Universe," featuring the strapping youth, He-Man; I bet he plays the skin flute), Queen (Yeah, we know), I also like women who like Queen (Denial). I go to a lutheran church and I have 2 dogs, A doberman named Kelly (Beastiality) and a Husky named Katie (Threesome) (who like Queen, and are also sexually confused male canines) Hey, my name is Ben (B=G, E=A, N=Y). Yes, I am a wrestler (Gay). Yes, I do look good in a singlet (Come on, do I really have to say it? Yeah I do: Gay). I wrestle 135, 140 and 145. I run (Gay) varsity for the Cross Country (Gay) team and Track team (Gay). In the summer, I wrestle (Gay) for the IWF and am the lightweight (Gay) champion. If I had to choose a favorite song by queen it would be either Play the Game (GAY), Rock It (Prime Jive) or Under Pressure (Double gay). My favorite song not by Queen is the Ballroom Blitz (Pretty gay). My nickname is Jeans (I wonder why? Gay). Freshman year, the first day of practice, I forgot a pair of shorts (...Yeah, "forgot"). I then practiced in my jeans (The Emperor's New Jeans). Since only a few people knew my name, Coach started calling me Jeans (Gay). The name stuck (Like some other things). Queen Of Wrestling if I have learned anything from my time here at Queenzone it is that when you act like a total moron no one is going to side with you. Your main problem is that you have no valid points. You may have gotten the "title" on your wrestling team, but you obviously didn't do so hot on the debate team. Face it, The Silence Xperiment is in the right on this one. He is not profiting off of Q-Unit, and actually losing money by paying server charges. If anything it is bringing Queen to a new audience. And I think that's a good thing. Personally I don't like rap. Don't listen to it, never will. But Q-Unit is such a great idea that I can't help but support it. I would have made this album myself if I was musically talented in the least. Great job Silence Xperiment! |

These rappers bitching about civil rights and slavery weren't even alive then and if they were, they were too young to know. Heres a person who was discriminated agaist the first 30 years of his life and he hasn't complained one bit. You know why? Because hes grateful! He is happy that he is not being forced to sit in the back of the bus! He can drink from the same fountain as a white person. And most of all HES MARRIED TO A WHITE PERSON! (my grandmother) The fact that even though middle class white people are the supporting limbs of the american economy doesn't deter the attack that "white people are responsible fore all the world's problems" Well let me tell you something, the african countries would be better off under european rule. What a hilarious discussion. I'm a huge Queen fan and have been so for some 15 years now. I'm also a total hiphop head. I can't get enough of it, though I never really got too deep into 50 Cent up til now, as I didn't like the boring production on his beats, but some how, against all odds this clash of worlds works wonderfully. The meeting of these two styles is just the kind of stuff I like, it's sticking one on uptight RIAA types, it winds up purist idiots like Wrestlemania here, it often improves or maybe just expands on the original artists' themes. Rap and rock absolutely can work together, or rock and techno, or any two given styles provided a little thought goes into it and this remix album clearly has a lot of love in it for both rap and rock. I'm spreading it far and wide. |

Judging by how enormously popular they still are and kids are discovering their music, I don't think we really need to worry about it all being ruined. If anything, it could turn more people onto their music, so that's one good thing to come from it. I still can't stand rap though. |

I absolutely hate rap, hiphop and more such crap. That's why I don't listen to it. If I would, I would get annoyed. |

Ooo. There's one Eminem song I really, really, liked. But I don't remember what it was. Hooray for Fiddy-sent. I read somewhere that rap fans were most likely to prefer champagne as a "recreational beverage". Isn't that wonderful ? |

hmmmm.... in response to what someone said on page 2, Hot Space is not a bad album. Brian, Roger,, Freddie, and John are the best musicians in the world and therefore could not create an album that wasn't good. Everything they have ever done is perfect! |

Heh. Thanks for bringing this topic back up. I adore projects like these. No harm can come from people using their creative brilliance to manipulate other artists' work, in my opinion. These tracks are so incredibly well done it blows my mind. Jimmy, you've got an amazing talent for mixing. As someone who dabbles in digital audio editing (which I'm good at) and tries to mix without success (I suck) I KNOW how difficult and time-consuming this stuff can be. Thank you for sharing your work! "This Is How We Bite The Dust" is my favorite and is mountains better than Wyclef Jean's attempt to use the track. |

First of all, I can't take anyone seriously, who can't spell becAUse. Secondly, to say 50 cent didn't do this intentionally is ridiculous. Of course, he did it intentionally. He intentionally, remixed Queen. He did not intend it to blow as hard as it does, I'm sure. I think this is just another prime example of how little original talent is around today. Every time you turn around someone is remixing from the Seventies or Eighties (and even Nineties). Is it possible, original melodies have become extinct? |

It was remixed by a 3rd party and distributed free of charge. Just like our 'fan mixes' section here. I'm still hoping for the promised instrumental versions... |

Undetermined wrote: I'm still hoping for the promised instrumental versions...I'm with you. It would sure be nice to hear the instrumental versions and be able to play around with them. But I have a feeling either a lawyer from Queen Productions got to him or he's moved on to better things. |

I'm trying to rate music objectively, 'cause - when you a fan of such band as Queen - it means, that you have a certain taste in music. We must admit, that rap has his "drive", but lost of rap (music, style of rapping, themes of the lyrics) are rather the same (unvaried) and could be boring and fast-tired. I'm not rap fan, but, In my opinion, there are some good rap tunes, which could be described as original "high class" songs, just pure classics, so I have my own-made compilation of all time rap at home too. Considering this Q-Unit project, Greatest hits album, I could say it is wise, professionally done. Mixes done very accurate, sound very organic and solid. I see this album as a good tribute to Queen, some kind of respect shown for Queen in rap world. Of couse, some can hate rap at all, so it's natural that they wont like this album and even that guy who mixed the songs, but opinion of these rap-hates can't effect the real (high) quality of the whole work. Masterpiecies of the album: This is how we bite the dust; Just it all; Candy bottom girls; 21 Flash questions; We will rock you in da club. Overall rating - 9/10 |

I hate 50 cent! He has no place to be covering Queen songs, he's only in like his mid 20's, a few years older than me. Not much, probably doesn't even know who they are! |
