One Vision was played on my local radio station :-) and it wasn't even requested.
They introduced it as One Vision by Freddie Mercury and the boys.... they always say "By Freddie Mercury and the boys" or ...
One time they introduced Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Freddie Mercury, not as in song writer, but as in an artist. They didn't say Queen.
Anyway, they know it's Queen as they have a commercial that has a clip that plays a bit of Fat Bottomed Girls and the opera part of Bohemian Rhapsody, and the DJ says "Come on, it's Queen!" and then a girl says "Oh, grow up!" lol. They play a lot of Queen, including Keep Yourself Alive.
But why do they never mention any of the other members names?
They played a shortened version of Bicycle Race at homecoming at my school. It cut off before when the bells would go but imagine this picture:
Here you are, in your Queen shirt. Almost all they've played is hip hop, you've been being smacked around like a raquetball all night and all of the sudden "This song is a special request for Ben Blacklock" suddenly "BICYCLE BICYCLE I WANT TO RIDE MY BICYCLE" Three people lifted me up so everyone could see my Queen shirt.
Thank you for listening to the best day I've ever had at school!
local Fairmont WV station 94.3 has ROTC singles (FBG, RO/TYMD) in heavy rotation and a snippet of Brian May (maestro! maestro!) dialogue "and I'm Brian May from Queen!"
Tonight, same station, it was a Queen edition, after every four songs, a Queen song.
I heard Hammer To Fall, Radio GaGa, Bicycle Race, Flash Gordon, and the DJ said Under Pressure is on next.
