Hey! annyone here listning to Genesis? been listning to their older stuff like Selling England by the pound and Foxtrot.Im not so fan of their chessy radio pop songs, but English 70's prog/Rock allways been very good!
I've written them off as a pop-prog band in the past, and I still believe that they were excellent up until Duke in 1980, but I just picked up The Video Show on DVD and I must say that I'm impressed with their obvious love for visuals. 'Land Of Confusion', especially freaks me out.
However, nothing beats The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway in terms of weird rock operas (it's one of my favorites, after Quadrophenia). They really are a great band, and before they fell into the drudgery of 80s pop (say, that reminds me of another band.......), they were really excellent. And Phil Collins, the so-called nicest guy in rock, is a pretty decent drummer, too.
Phil Collins won't confirm just yet, but seems there is talk of a reunion, with BOTH Phil Collins AND Peter Gabriel!!!!!....
HMMMMMMMM
Read THIS!!!! link
Would be really nice to see Gabriel / banks / Rutherford / Hackett / Collins line up! Especially after Collins said that he'd probably just sit behind the drum kit! I may not like him very much- but he IS a kick ass drummer!!!

In the light of current speculation about their activities, the members of the Genesis have issued the following statement through Tony Smith Personal Management:
"There are no decisions by Genesis to perform anywhere whatsoever at this time. This situation will not alter in the next twelve months."
Who said phil was a nice guy, i heard hes an arsehole apparently, i like him dont get me wrong but he was meant to have screwed a few people out of money on a tour once or somthing like that
Of course I have those, as well as "And Then There Were Three".
They're pretty good, but I think they "progressively" got worse with each album. It was cool to hear Bruford on Seconds Out, though.
By then it was Radio Pop...
Duke
3 Sides
Abacab
Genesis
And then it became Radio Poop!

I just discovered that they used to rehearse in a studio not far from me back in the 70's -80's Ironically called The Farmyard, *Note not The Farm where they record in Surrey, but a large studio complex in Buckinghamshire.
I found some great old shots on the net a few days ago when looking for a local studio.
