Since we have indulged the question of what some of the greatest shows were, let's do the opposite. I don't mean this as a disrespect to the band (as I would gladly attent their "worst gig") but just a matter of curiosity. Also, let's avoid gigs like Sun City where Freddie lost his voice and they had to cancel or the one on the Works tour in which he fell and they ended early or the 05 tour (I can read your minds, you cynical lot). I'm talking about full live concerts which simply did not live up to the Queen standards. I myself will abstain from this question as I am nowhere near as familiar with their concertography as most of you. I've never even seen or heard Earls Court '77, Houston '77 or Hammersmith '79. That last statement was a cry for help. :-)

Their worst experience was probably Dublin 1986 or Australia 1974.
In Australia it went something like this:
Introduction of the band: "Well, we've got another load of limy bastards here tonight, and they're probably going to be useless, but let's give 'em something to think about."
Dublin 1986 is a well-known story...
Crowd fight, Brian got something throwed at him I think.
how could someone do that to BRIAN?!
i could understand John- i would like to see him move from his spot- throw something at him, maybe he'll try to dodge it

Why do you say that? They shouldn't haven thrown anything at all!

Maybe someone can clean up the rumor on this one - but the story goes that they were drunk when they played and Freddie was so drunk he couldn't get through the show - they refunded the tickets - it is in a Queen book somewhere if you want the exact details - but it was something like that from memory. Never the less it was pretty bad and I have heard recordings of it and you would not believe it was Freddie singing.
(I think that is a good enough reason for them to come and tour NZ with Paul)
In September 1984, I've been in the "Europahalle" Hannover, when freddie shouted "give it to me one more time" at the end of hammer to fall, jumped down from the empore - and fell down. Next day, I could read in the local newspaper "Hannoversche Allgemeine", that the concert was awful. Maybe; it definetely was not their best, but the crowd shouting "Freddie, Freddie" and his return five minutes later were unforgettable. He did his job, even if Brian was out of conrol at WWRY, they were real entertainers at their time. The worst Queen-Concert ever I've seen was nearly 11 years later in Cologne - but this was not a really queen-gig anymore, I guess.

This gig has probably the best version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Hi Rick, maybe you're right. Just heared my poor-quality-tape of this gig again, the Bohemian Rhapsody played in Hannover 1984 really has a unique style. The warming-up with the "Somebody to love"-intro-moments and the dynamic piano- and guitarplaying at the last section are impressing, and the song seems to be played faster than on other occasions. I did not realize it 21 years ago (not 11 years ago, sorry), in Septemebr 84 my only thought was: Freddie injured, was this the end of the concert? It wasn't, he came back on stage, he gave it to us all. The Show did go on, adorable!

yeah, it was great. I was 18 then, lived in a small north see town called Cuxhaven that time, but my uncle 250 km away in the region of hannover gave me a home for this concert - and a afternoon event shortly before. In the "Anzeigerhochhaus Hannover", the leading town-cinema of that time, there was first performed "We will rock you", the queen-film of the montreal-gig 1981. That was a cinema-invent in 84, and after that I took the subway to the "messegelände" to see them really live... and saw them.
Those Japan videos aren't great shows and could be the worst. The Montreal show before the dvd(which is great) seems to be the worst. However, apart from his Brighton Rock solo, Brian's Live at the Brixton Academy is an awful show! Thank goodness he lost those back up singers for this tour. TRULY DREADFUL IDEA it was to employ them. Live Killers is pretty weak amongst the official material.
