Never too late to learn.
Buy a chord book, buy a sheet music book of your fav album and start learning the chord shapes.
Learn to play one song with maybe just a few chords in (suggest you start with something in 'D' ) then find a local tutor and have fun.
F? harsh for a starter.
Surely G-Em-C-D for a beginner?
Then introduce the A-D-E 12 bar and having then established A & E shapes, move to barre chords.
Hey, I just learned guitar 2 years ago, and I'm twice your age. Honestly, I don't think kids can even learn guitar until their fingers are strong enough to play the chords.
My advice is to play stuff you really want to play, regardless of which chords are involved. Learning will be easy and rewarding that way. If you try to learn from songs that don't interest you, the passion won't be there, and the pain associated with building up the callouses on your fretting fingers will cause you to quit.
Forget sheet music, just spend some time at websites like link where you can find the tabs and chords for your favourite songs. They also have a chord dictionary that tells you where to put your fingers. Then it's just building that into your motor memory with practice.
Crazy Little Thing is a good one - D, G, C, with the occasional F. Hell, if Freddie could play it, so can you!
Oh, and try to convince your parents that for the same price as an acoustic, you can get a pretty nice electric and a little amp. They're a lot more fun, and a lot easier to play.

I 've been in the same age as you and started to learn on an acoustic guitar by myself.
I played some years on it and changed to the electric, but I couldn't play that guitar well for a long time.
So after 15 years of playing guitar I'd recommend you, if you wanna play Rock guitar start with an electric one. Because you need to touch that much softer than an acoustic guitar ..to become faster for example.
There are other reasons too.
There are some quite big differences in the playing style between an electric and an acoustic one.
Another recommendation, what I would do if I would start to play guitar now, is
Play the guitar without any help from others.
Check out what sounds right for you , try to create your own style of guitar playing.
Don't do chord exercises.
You can do this later, after some years...
Look at Jim Hendrix, Mark Knopfler, Eddie van Halen, Steve Vai, (maybe Brian May too... )
I don't think that they were taught by someone but they're famous for their unique style.

F is really hard for someone starting off until they build up the muscle in their wrist ive gotton the hang of it it wont take too long b4 u get it.
hey u sound just like me a few months ago! im 15 too! All i wanted to learn was CLTCL too mainly that is actually- i say u find out about people around u- luckily my school has a guitar class so i signed up and they told us to bring in songs we want to learn- so i did, thats why im learning CLTCL now ! its never too late- we should talk on MSN if u have?
I'm 15 I learned like 5 years ago, and it's not hard for chord positions. You have to develop it with practice. I'd go get lessons if you want to or get a DVD instructional video but personally go for the lessons.

Oh no, it's never too late to start. I'm 13 and I only started a couple of months ago. I've wanted to play for years and I thought, most people I know started at a really young age... but now I feel like I have been playing for years and I'm really making good progression.
Trust me, in a couple of months time you'll feel like you've always been playing guitar. It comes naturally to me now; I can locate the chords instantly when I pick my guitar up and can play without watching what my fingers are doing (handy if you fancy keeping your eyes on your audience to check that they're still interested!)
Never too late. Good luck to you.
F is most definitely not the simplest barre chord. It's at the very least the second most difficult basic barre chord nest to Bb, assuming we're talking about playing in 1st position.
Obviously, closer to the nut the action is higher, as well as the string tension being greater, so F and Bb are the most difficult barre chords to play.
