The way they showed Claire leaving, the events to follow in their future and we see each character's death moment at whatever period of time it may be.
I had a moment of clarity as I watched it and saw Claire's last moment on earth and it hit me. It made me think more about us human beings and what we all do. And as Claire died the way she did, I welled up.
I say - Best drama series ending EVER! I've never experienced something so final about a show. But more importantly, something I actually felt for, that I cared about seeing. I'll have to watch that end sequence again this Sunday.
Anyone else have thoughts on the ending they made?
Peace,
Adam.
Fuck. Finally someone with some taste around here.
I was gonna make this post myself, but in the end didn't bother because I've got the impression on here (and generally) that for some reason SFU is incredibly cult and hardly anyone watches. Which is absurd, given that it is without a doubt the best goddamn TV programme that has ever existed, EVER. Forget best series ending ever, it's simply the best series ever.
I've been utterly obsessed with SFU for the last 4 years, so Tuesday night was a big moment for me, and unsurprisingly it didn't disappoint. I was starting to get a bit worried that the mood wouldn't lighten at the end, and the utter depressiveness of the previous few episodes would continue.
Clearly it was looking like the funeral home would be no more, with David starting some new life away from the family business he secretly hated, and that seemed like the most obvious way to end the show. But we were treated to the happy(ish) ending that we all must have really wanted, and in typical SFU fashion.
As the future death sequences started I was thinking that this was a brilliant and unique touch to the finale. But as it progressed further into the future (and things start to get a bit strange as SFU unfortunately and inevitably has to delve into sci-fi territory) I began to think that it was maybe a bit cheesy. Some of the makeup was a little lame, and the sets grated a little.
But then they cut back to Claire, and I thought we'd had our last ever SFU fantasy sequence. But I know others that disagree. I like to believe that they intentionally made that sequence to be a little ambiguous - you can view it either as Claire mapping out in her head how everybody's lives will pan out, now that she'd flown the nest to start a new life for herself on the other side of the country, or you can see it as the producers of the show rewarding us viewers and answering all our questions as to what 'happens to evryone after the programme finishes'.
Either way, I cried like a big girl's blouse for about the last 20 minutes.
Absolute quality.
