THE NUMBER ONE GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO NEED TO DIE!
1. PEOPLE WHO BITCH ABOUT QUEEN JOINING WITH PAUL RODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, much better, thank you. I will no longer give a rat's ass just as soon as Q+PR announces continuation of their plans.
Just to elaborate a moment, for one thing, I don't care who the hell it is, so long as BM + RT get back on the road or in a studio. But the main thing to me is that after thinking, he's okay and they could have done a lot worse, I am now finding myself in privacy, whenever I am imagining or singing a part of a Queen song, I am now starting to mimic PR a bit more. This guy was TOTALLY the right choice. I have other ideas of who i think would have worked, but I know for a fact now that PR definitely works!
Here's to Paul Rodgers, not just for reviving Queen, but for risking doing the material his way, and resulting in making these old classic a bit fresher again. I am no longer finding myself caring so much about Freddie missing, not that I wouldn't love like crazy a miracle to make it happen... It's just that Q + PR is a band I love so much that I don't feel the loss anymore.
The number one thing this has made me realize above all is that, in my humble opinion, Freddie is not quite as irreplaceable as Brian May. Another thought is that, Freddie was a bit of a contrast in some ways to Brian, which was a good thing. Paul may not be quite the fit in terms of who's better, but I am starting to believe that Brian and Paul probably think a bit more alike musically, in terms of blending together. While that is what make them so great, it was the seperateness of Freddie and Brian's great abilities that made them the greater duo.
Bottome Line: Queen + PR, if they record, should drop the name. Not because of disrespect to Freddie, but because a band this great deserves it's own, seperate identity. Oh how smart they were for teaming with Paul!
I agree taht if they continue they should find another name. I don't think any one member was neccessarily more irreplaceable than another, but I was quite surprised how much I liked most of PR's vocal take on the songs.

i dont really get why everyone keeps saying this they are not THAT great- i like them A LOT do not get me wrong but everyone keeps blowing it way out of proportion- they arent AS great as everyone keeps saying they are. Like when started to listening to Queen (while back) i loved it because freddie could hit those notes so high and relatively low- i thought that was amazing and now all of his songs that showed his voice off so great are now bluesy songs. AND dont get me wrong i love blues/jazz i listen to it just as much as Queen it just doesnt fit for me- like i guess it does for everyone else. like you know i was at the NJ show and whenever i heared the song going through my head i would always picture the smae pitches freddie sang but now its kinda low. IDK i think theyll grow on me- but still October 16th was the best day of my life
AmeriQueen, -(It is really quite amusing that you call yourself this, since in no way are your opinions representative of anything, much less of the North American continent!) - you clearly have no ear for vocal quality.
As has been explained again and again, Paul Rodgers, although talented, simply does not possess the vocal ability of Freddie Mercury. On a purely objective level, Paul Rodgers clearly lacks the extraordinary vocal range. On a deeper level, Paul Rodgers neither inspires the listener nor does he stimulate the imagination. To say it another way, he is quite a snore. Let's face it, without Freddie Mercury, "Queen" is nothing more than a boring blues band. It is not surprising that the "Return of the Champions" cd flopped.
AmeriQueen, I suggest that perhaps you were never a Queen fan all along. Instead I suspect that your true passion is for what I refer to as "the white blues".
