If you are on a dial up modem then switch to cable. I think it only took me 8 hours to get Houston. |
Erin 01.11.2005 22:54 |
There are people who waited years to get Houston, let alone 23 hours...;-) |

I'll say this semi-affectionately: Quit Your Bitchin'. This download is 4 Gig, It is massive. It took me a week to download it, because my Windows 98 SE computer kept crashing due to incompatibilities with Bittorrent. Does anyone know of a torrent program that runs well with Win 98 SE????? |

If you're on a 56 kBit Modem that works perfectly and continuously it – theoretically – will take you about 271 hours to download the whole file. If you are connected by cable or DSL or whatever broadband device it will take much less time – about a few hours I'd say – but that's only if you're the only one downloading and there's a mega fast connection seeding the file continuously. So be prepared that it will last somewhat from 2 to 7 days. Given somebody is seeding all the time. My download was lasting for 4 days and I'm on a superfast broadband connection. Be patient! Keep yourself alive !First off try switching to Azaureus for torrent sharing (I found it to be faster for me), also, I'm guessing you are using a router, so if you are, you will probably have to perform Port Forwarding to get maximum use of your sharing program. Go into google search and type in "how to perform port forwarding" and you should find a guide to walk you through the process. Hope this helps. P.S. keep thick skinned in this forum, some people can be vicious here. ; ) |

Bittorent is totally dependent on:- whether the files are flac, shn or mp3; the number of seeders you have. As flac is lossless and is favoured by many traders, it takes much longer to download than mp3! Also bittorent files may become dead after a time and so need to be re-seeded. You've got to be patient. I waited 5 months to fully download Zoom 1979 and about 50 mins to download one of the 2005 gigs!! (forget which one - Meadowlands I think!) There's no depends on any time limit. |
jcrawford79 02.11.2005 19:56 |
What's up with everyone saying they've been waiting years, as if this guy is being demanding and impatient?? I'm sure he's waited years also. Maybe I'm an idiot and misunderstood the context surrounding his original question, but it seems to me that he's asking how to increase the speed of the download....not how to get it at this instant; furthermore, he's probably not familiar with torrents and has a legitimate question which I'm sure we've all wondered when we attempted our first torrent download. So, in response, it depends primarily on the number of seeders and the speeds of their uploads (which you cannot control) and the speed of your internet connection (DSL, cable, etc). So not much you can do really. But be patient cause this is a great show and worth your wait. |

Thanks again to those who have offered constructive answers to my original question in particular ... Sithmarauder, we-are_the_champions and jcrawford79 I've been a Queen fan since 1975 and had the luxury of seeing Queen in 79, 82 and 84 as well as Sweden this year and both USA concerts. I expected a different response ... why do most of you bitch all the time ... ???? Just be cause I might not be familiar with torrents etc .. who gives a f**k ! Genuine Queen fans should at least have some respect for one another .. I bet lots of you are even too damn young to remember or have witnessed the original early days. |

You are welcome, I was in the same boat as you 7 months ago and didn't dare use this forum (Except for Richard Orchard's Bittorrent post) to learn about torrents. As you become familiar with the members here, you'll find most are friendly and extremely helpful and sometimes comical. It's all innocent stuff. I too have been a Queen fan for ages now (since 1975)! I was fortunate to see all but 2 shows at Madison Square Garden, from The Day At The Races tour to Hot Space. I just wish that I would have caught the Beacon Theater shows. |

Sometimes you have to keep your guard up around this place but there are some great people here who are eager to help answer your questions (like torrents, for example). And, of course, there are assholes. Just like anywhere else. Don't pay them no mind. They're not worth the thought it takes to reply to their rediculous posts. |
