Freddie did not like public anything.
It was all first class. Private 'planes, private chauffeur driven limousines.
No different from any other multi-millionaire rock star really.
I read some old interview I think with Brian, maybe it was roger, about way back when Freddie worked at Kensington Market with Roger, and that that ONE time, because Freddie had no money, he took the bus, and whoever was telling the story, Brian or Roger, said they had to ride the bus with Freddie and it was the most surreal experience thay had to endure because Freddie kept going on about how much he hated it and that it was beneath him.
Question: About the most bizarre thing you ever experienced together with Freddie Mercury, you once replied: "Travelling on a Number 9 bus". What happened on that bus?
Brian's answer: "God, we used to do that journey every day. I think we had flats in Barnes at the time - although Freddie might have been in Earls Court - and we used to meet on the Number 9 bus on our way into town to invade the offices of Trident (our management company) and ask them why they weren't doing anything about our record. That bus journey was always frustrating, but I can't remember Freddie doing anything special on it."
This is SORt of related because Freddie was so very Proper about keeping up his dignified social status and appearances, but didn't I read that he SOLD...Roger's jacket or boots at Kensington Market when Roger took it off, without asking Roger obviously, to get some money?
Some guy: "Freddie why dont you have ur liscense?"
Freddie: "Why do i need a liscense when i can have someone to drive me?"
From BECOMING QUEEN- the guy it hink was from Ibex, and was before he even got famous

I hate taking the bus with gum, and the old people smell.

Yeah, I remember reading that. He sold Roger's jacket for cabfare. :)
