This is hypothetical and utterly pointless but still I want your opinion.
Imagine if things were vice-versa and Jim was dead instead of Freddie.
Would you think that our man would have carried on, doing the thing we loved, or you think he would leave it all behind ( a bit like G.Michael did after his partners death) and sink into a deep depression. I somehow believe that although Freddie was a strong man he wouldn’t be able to cope well with Jim’s death. He was very sentimental, and I don’t think he would have still liked to run around and make peoples harts pound faster if he had faced such a tragedy. On the other hand he may have altered his music and artistic-profile into a more sober, low-key way (although I can’t imagine Freddie being too serious).
What do you think?
That's a bit of an interesting question I suppose but the answer is a very simple one.
The other members of Queen used to be very lighthearted and funny when they wanted to be, but as soon as Freddie died they did become pretty serious.
Yep, Freddie would have carried on for sure. People he knew were dropping left and right - that's what made him stop his crazy sexaholic lifestyle. Too bad it was too late. I've always thought by the fact that Freddie left Hutton only as much money as his other staffers that they weren't as close as spouses, at least not in the final years.
I read that Kenny Everett, like Freddie, died of AIDS in the early 90's, having never come out as a homosexual. It's amazing how they seemed so afraid to be themselves, and here only 15 years later, being gay is pretty widely accepted and not discriminated against.
Needless to say we cannot know...But I personally agree he would have carried on with all he loved to do. Most certainly he would have changed a bit...life changes us every day anyhow.
"and here only 15 years later, being gay is pretty widely accepted and not discriminated against."
Thankfully, you're mostly right. But it's a big world, with a lot of idiots in it and unfortunately I've seen some pretty bad examples of people being pretty damn cruel to gay people. It's just not cool.
Having said that, things are admittedly getting better slowly.
watched a great show on VH1 on the weekend, the 100 Greatest Metal Moments.
In the top 10 was when Judas Priest's Rob Halford openly outed himself as gay, and most of the hard ass metal rock stars they interviewed, really had no idea..BUT..said that if you have anything against Rob, who IS and DEFINES METAL and COOL, then you are an idiot! That Rob ROCKS !!!! and that's ALL that matters!
Good for them!
