I would just like to say that I think this video shows just how amazing Mr Freddie Mercury was and how even though he only had a few more months to live managed to leave on a high. The video is beautiful but also very saddening. I think the feeling was ruined when they added the aniamtion but the whole complete one is almost art. What a brillaint man.

have you not seen the version with no animation? its queen/ freddie all the way through, that version brings a tear to my eye cos you can see the rest of the guys performing like they were saying "this could be it"
someitmes it looks like roger is about to cry, john sometimes looks like he is! same with Brian!
Plus, it was circulating the QZ torrent for a while.
I just liked that one bit before the first chorus.
Freddie is looking all stoic, and then quickly turns his eyes towards the camera, and flashes a bit of a goofy grin, before resuming his previous pose.
That symbolized Freddie the most to me. Able to face adversity, and still ham it up, still give it his all and then some.
I love that grin. For a guy that used to cover his mouth when laughing, it shows incredible gumption. It's perfect, just when people are probably sitting there going 'God he looks ill'... he does something really really funny. Bless him! :D
IIRC
The UK version had no animation, the US version had animation from Disney, probably because of the (then recent deal with Disney's Hollywood records)
I remember me and my mates all discussing the first UK showing of the animated version when it appeared on the BBC's "Top of the Pop's" during the song's run at number 1 (they alternated weekly between Bo Rhap and TATDOOL videos during it's long run at number one as the band obviously weren't able to perform live)
I also remember a Christmas chart on the radio in 1991 it was based on total single sales for the year At number 1 was Brian Adams after 16 extremely long weeks on the top spot (I am sure you remember that song) at number 2 was the Queen double A side not a bad feat saying it had only been released for 2 to 3 weeks at that point.
