Do you know why Robert Plant's performance of "Innuendo" is not included in the FMTC DVD??... I recall watching the concert live on TV back in 92 and I think he didn't sing it too well... do you agree??... |
PieterMC 20.10.2005 15:49 |
It was not included because they were not happy with the performance. |
kudilja 21.10.2005 04:37 |

Like at Live Aid, big-bollocks Plant didnt like it, so it doesn't go on the DVD. It's a shame, cause he was wank at Crazy Little Thing Called Love too yet that was included. I know which I'd rather have included... |

Those who've read my posts in the past know how much I like Robert Plant, but he really did blow that song badly. I taped it (on VHS) when it was broadcast on MTV and there were muiltiple problems. One, the mic he was using didn't work for the first 30 seconds of the song-no sound what-so-ever came through. Two, he was way off key (as were many singers that day). Three, he screwed up the lyrics worse than he did on CLTCL. The only part that worked was the middle section where he did a little bit of "Kashmir". As far as the Zeppelin reunion at Live Aid goes, can you balme him? That was a travesty, the most horrible moment of the day. |

Im thinking that with his vocal range and style of voice, Roger Taylor may have done a good job on Innuendo at the FMTC. He's proved he can sing and drum at the same time. What do u think? |
kdj2hot 21.10.2005 15:19 |
The first 30 seconds werent inaudible. Atleast on the version I heard and saw on some website. It's a queen site I saw on Serry's page under the audio video section. I dont remember the name of the site. Anyway what I noticed is the audio alone sounded terrible but when I watched the video it wasn't as bad. Hey, Freddie had a great voice and sings the song pretty high and Robert Plant's voice doesnt have as much range as it had in the past. I think around '92 he was still adjusting to the limittions of his voice but I read a review of his recent tour and it said unlike the 90's were he went for high notes and missed them he stays in his lower register and it works great for him. |

It was a bit of team-work, but it was chiefly Frederick's (musically) and Roger's (lyrically). |

He's a prick. Sounds shit then refuses the stuff being released, blamed Phil Collins for Live Aid? Phil Collins played those songs exactly as they should be played. But saying that I can't listen to Led Zepp anyway because of his horrific screeching. Can you imagine how good they would have been if he could actually sing?! |

"verb (used with object), soused, sous·ing. to plunge into water or other liquid; immerse. to drench, as with water. to dash or pour, as water. to steep in pickling brine; pickle" ? |

The performance is technically flawed and quite honestly, going by that youtube video there's no wonder why they left it out. It would have required overdubs to hell and back. |
Holly2003 14.12.2018 11:23 |
He didn't sing it that well but welcome to being human. I think these lapses add character. Better that than endless overdubs, voice processors etc. |

Truly I wish he did it better too because it is a great song and is actually suited to his voice....wish Freddie had the chance to have performed it live on tour as do we all. I guess in Plant’s defense, Freddie didn’t do a great version of the Immigrant Song...it would have been cool to hear Freddie do a stronger/longer version |

Haha. I Wonder what made them play that fucking song! FFS ! of all the times I've met Brian why isn't this at the top of my list of qUestions? |

Plant probably was Fred's favourite (male) singer. |
Invisible Woman 15.12.2018 15:06 |
Innuendo is one of Queen songs I love very much. I don't get into discussing whether Plant is a good singer or not, he didn't sing this song good. That was my opinion when I was 15 year old and watched live on tv, my opinion is the same now. |
. 15.12.2018 15:27 |
Like it or loathe it, it's all history now so the song remains the same. Perhaps it went better in rehearsal, when nerves weren't an issue. It was a nice of Plant to attempt it, it could have been great. Given the occasion, the crowd accepted the gesture in good spirit, and that's what really matters. |

It was hilarious. THAT'S what i meant. Not INNUENDO. ...INNUENDO is fantastic. And as most of my posts attest to. ....it's probably my favorite QUEEN album (though probably not their "BEST"...i don't like absolutes like that) My response was about THE IMMIGRANT SONG |
beemack74 20.12.2018 15:33 |
I recorded it as it happened on vhs,but when the official video was released,I usually watched that,so I haven't heard this performance of Innuendo in many years. Maybe I was caught up in the atmosphere of the event as I watched it live, but I don't recall Plant's version being as shockingly bad as that. Truly dreadful. As it's one of my favourite Queen songs,I was probably more interested in hearing Brian, Roger and John performing it onstage for the first time than I was in Plant's vocals. |

I think anyone could have got on that stage and with the band a performed at what ever standard an would have been welcomed by an audience who seemed so pleased that other "stars" we're performing Queen songs with Brian, Roger and John in memory of Freddie. On the day inperfections, and who was responsible for them, didn't matter and probably went unnoticed by most. |
