Hi Isis here I was wondering why Queen have left off Australia from their Queen and Paul Rogers tour. Queen have heaps of fans here and all their concerts would sell out - I am sure. Does anyone here know why Queen traditionally over look touring Australia? Does anyone know if they may come to Australia on a later tour with Paul Rogers? I hope Queen would consider coming to Australia and do a tour here. |
Benn 11.10.2005 09:12 |
I would imagine that it's certainly a part of the long-term plan for the future. To be honest, I'm surprised that they didn't schedule Sydney, Melbourne and possibly Auckland for immediately after the Japanese dates - after all, logistically it would make sense in terms of the cost of shipping people and equipment from the UK. Maybe it'll be the first port of call after the studio work is completed...... ;-0 |
Isis 11.10.2005 09:17 |
I hope they all keep well and healthy until then or I may never get the chance to see them. Do you think begging them to hurry up and get to Australia ASAP will help? Beg Beg Beg Beg - nope didn't work they are still not coming here. Any tips. |
Greyleaf 11.10.2005 17:19 |
Send them nude photos? No seriously, get yourself in the papers for it somehow, like paint yourself purple, wear a tiara and a robe, and parade thru downtown with a giant sign saying "WE WILL ROCK YOU -- BUT YOU MUST COME" or something cheesy like that (and yeah there's a little double entendre there, so flavor to taste if your paper is squeamish) and try to flag down a hungry reporter with a camera to get a shot of you and run a little spot about it in a bored corner of the next edition. Then send THAT to Queen. Bring as many flamboyant friends as you can to help in your little parade. Dress for the shot. |
Isis 11.10.2005 19:05 |
Hi Greyleaf thanks for the thread LOL's. I think these guys are getting a bit too old for all that Tit and Ass. If they want that sort of stuff I think they can just snap their fingers and there are hundreds of groupies ready to accommodate their every need, desire and fantasy. I don't think they would even bat an eye lid if we did this, as they are use to this sort of stuff. I just want them to be the elder hippies that they are and just pack all their gear up - thumb a ride down to Australia, dump their gear on a stage in Melbourne and busk for us - Now that would be cool! I can just see them now - Flares, tie-dyed t-shirts, bare feet, beaded necklaces and throwing flowers out to the audience. Of course they can crash at my place for the night and we'll see how much 'hippie' is still in the old boys! LOL's. |
Greyleaf 11.10.2005 20:06 |
No no dear, I meant the photos as a laugh only. My real suggestion was the parade and news bit thingy. Do you think that's a no-go? Why? I'll help punch up *your* evil genius plan as soon as you drop it on me. ;-) |
Isis 11.10.2005 20:53 |
You said: No no dear, I meant the photos as a laugh only. My real suggestion was the parade and news bit thingy. Do you think that's a no-go? Why? I say: They probably don't even read the newspaper and certainly not an Australian Newspaper. I did think of a petition though but that is getting too serious for me - so I thought I would just bug them enough on their boards until they got the message from someone that reads this and knows them. Hopefully more Aussies will also post here asking them to come on down - that we need them and want to see Queen live too. I don't get it. They went to Aruba (where is that place anyway?) and hardly anyone is going to their concert. |
Greyleaf 11.10.2005 20:58 |
LOL; you still missed the "and try to flag down a hungry reporter with a camera to get a shot of you and run a little spot about it in a bored corner of the next edition. ---> Then send THAT to Queen. <--- " part. NOW does it make sense? :-) I really am a genius, if only at piling up ways of being brilliantly misunderstood. |
john bodega 11.10.2005 23:05 |
I'm so frickin' naive, I wasn't exactly sure where Aruba was - I knew it was in the Caribbean somewhere, but that was it. I'm sure they feel the same way about Australia. It makes no never mind to me that they left Sydney and Melbourne off their list. Even if they came to Australia they'd probably take one look at perth and say 'fuck it'. Jeeze I hate living so far away from the interesting stuff. :( |
Isis 12.10.2005 00:41 |
Hi Zebonka12 Are you from Perth? I was born and grew up in Perth. Nice place you have wonderful beaches there. I think if Queen say 'no' to Australia - it may be due to our bad welcoming we gave them when they did their first tour here. Their light rig wires were cut and they were called “Pommy Poofters” when they turned up to a concert in limo and they had to drive through the crowd to get to the stage. I hope they realize that we are not like that anymore and there is a new generation here dying to see them play live and we are all pretty decent these days (and well traveled). Did you get the chance to see WWRY the play? We did in Melbourne - I loved it. It was going to this play that really got me hooked on Queen. How the hell are we going to get them to come here? Khulanic |

YES!! finally someone has the same problem i do! i am DESPERATE to get them to Australia...i've tried petitions and they dont work. if only we could think of a big scheme to get them here... |
john bodega 12.10.2005 03:49 |
Unite! Yeah, Perth boy here. Sucks to be me, the only Queen I see around here is me playing it on guitar! I missed out on WWRY because I was kinda poor at the time. Funny enough I've been saving and saving and saving in case anything cool comes our way (like QUEEN or Paul McCartney). Lemme tell you, if they do come our way I'll move heaven and earth to see 'em! |
An Ordinary Guy 12.10.2005 06:26 |
They skipped Russia as well during their European leg of the tour. WWRY is staged in Moscow. Brian toured solo in there. They have a well-established fan club. And yet... I suppose they have their reasons for avoiding such sites. |

We are not Whinging you idiot we are trying to get together here - so Brian will know that Australia wants Queen and Paul to come Down Under. 2. We are looking for brainstorming help from other Australian Queen fans on these boards since we were left off the tour list. Many voices speak louder than one. 3. If you are that bad ass why don't you put your bad deeds to some good use and give us some idea what the petition should say. 4. I have tried emailing Brian's site already and begged them to pass on a message to Brian asking him if he would consider coming to Australia on tour with Paul. I have had no reply from them yet. The hope is to get a team of us together and submit a group "Request" asking Queen to come here to Australia. 5. Glad I got your attention LOL's |

My Reply: I think I am on to something - if we can get a group of us and write a group letter to Queen and send it to Bri at Soap box it may go through to him. Maybe the Mods here could help us here as well and pass it on to Bri for us. This may be our only chance to see Queen Live in Australia - we have to come together to get them to come here. Maybe we can all spread the word to those you know who are on these boards and are Australian. Also I think this post should move to another relevant area as well - but I don't know where the best place would be to repost it - General Discussions or somewhere else. Can you help me on that one? Maybe if we came up with a name for the group they might take notice of us - what do you think J\? |

My Reply: Hi Zebonka12 thanks for putting a thread back up here - your support for this idea is really great to see. Thank You. I think you have hit the nail on the head UNITE - I totally agree with you. DO you know other Aussies on this board that you can get to come here and help us get something big off the ground - there are heaps of people here with heaps of knowledge, expertise and have been here for ages. I think the first thing that those that are serious about this need to do is try and think of a name for us. I don't know Aussie Queens or something like that - no idea really - just know we need a catchy name. Once we have done that we need to come together and write a joint letter asking them to come here and how much we want them. That's as far as I've got so far - what do you think? BTW: do you surf? |

SURF??? I can't even swim! Hehehe... They've got their reasons for leaving Australia off the list I guess, big transit time, and they might worry that it won't sell well down here. In my view, that's bunk though. WWRY did pretty good down here, didn't it? Well I heard only good things from people I know. Even if they do come to Australia, I doubt they'd visit Perth but if you guys do get a petition-style thing together, you've got my support! |
Isis 12.10.2005 17:05 |
Dear Zebonka12 >They've got their reasons for leaving Australia off the list I guess, big transit time, and they might worry that it won't sell well down here. WWRY did pretty good down here, didn't it? Well I heard only good things from people I know. My Reply: They made enough money from us here to sit comfortable for a while - so yes it did really well sales wise. They also know they have heaps of fans here - LOYAL ONES as well. >Even if they do come to Australia, I doubt they'd visit Perth but if you guys do get a petition-style thing together, you've got my support! My Reply: We can add Perth to the request list-we can only ask - there seem to be many from Perth on the boards so all we have to do is show the numbers and that we want them BTW HUGS AND SMILES - Glad we have your support. Welcome - can you think of a better name for this group other than Aussie Queens? |

I think we need to be patient and see what the summer brings as that is when most bands like to tour Australia anyway. Also they seem to be adding dates as they go along, like they did with America, at first it was not announced they would tour there in the early days of their starting to tour in the UK, but now they are. So it might be the same with us too, when they are in Japan they may consider to skip on down here to Australia? But of course they will want to feel confident that they will be able to sell the tickets as it is very expensive to come here, and if the CD and DVD sales "die" (or do not do any good) they may consider it is not worth the effort of come at this time. The fact they came here in the 70s and got laughed at and it was a bad experience for them, that would have no effect now, as the other tours (1985) with our sweet Freddie did go well, as have all their promo visits for the musical. So we just need to be patient and also they have Pauls schedule to consider too I guess. So we need to chill out and wait ......... |

From ABBA in the 70's to U2 who just announced a HUGE Aussie 2006 I think Tour, why would you think that about your native land? Don't take it personally if Queen does not tour there. There must be some trivial reason, because most artists want VERY much to tour there and are greeted with packed venues and rabid fans. |

To Arlene R. Weiss There is no guarantee that Queen will come here - it is all up in the air - we just need to let them know that we are desperate to see them live here. As for the issues you discussed about Perth - I come from Perth and it is OFTEN left off the tour guide for bands. This is once in a life time chance to see Queen live again - Australia is so cut off from the rest of the world geographically and Perth is cut off even further from all the entertainment action more so. So when you see people bagging Perth out when it comes to missing out on bands touring - They have good reason to - Many bands just don't bother with it as it is just too far away from all the action of the East Coast. I hope you can understand this view that is coming out from Perth Queen fans on this post. I do. |

"because most artists want VERY much to tour there and are greeted with packed venues and rabid fans. " Too bad most of 'em suck! I am priveliged enough to live over the road from the Royal Agricultural Showgrounds in Perth. In 2004, the Big Day Out festival was held there (this thing goes all over the country) and I had the fortune to sit on my front lawn and listen to The Darkness, for free! Very clear sound, I should've recorded it... :P Quite a day I tell you! --- To Isis; 'fraid I can't help you with a better name than Aussie Queens... keep it simple I reckon. --- Anyway, here's hoping! Brian May has got my money if they decide to add Perth. |

Hi For those that want to know where we are at with this project - this is Aussie Queens Progress so far 1. J\ and Isis are now co-ordintating this project 2. We have set up an email address for those who are interested in joining us on this project. It is aussiequeens@hotmail.com 3. We would like you to write a brief message to Bri, Roger and Paul as to why you want them to come to OZ and what part of Australia you are from. We will include your message with your email address with it at the bottom of the joint letter to them. This way they will see what each of us have to say. 4. If you know any other Aussie that is not on these boards but is interested in joining us on this project please tell them the email address and just get them to write to us - we will look after them from there. To those that are interested - THANK YOU SO MUCH - this should work as long as we have a good number of people supporting it - So please consider joining us - thank you. |

dragonzflame 15.10.2005 17:31 |
I'm surprised they aren't going to Australia but I'm not surprised we haven't heard a peep down here. NZ gets ignored by everyone, they haven't even thought about bringing WWRY to Auckland yet. I guess they don't think it's worth all the hassle and money etc. to play for a comparatively small crowd when they can go all over Europe much cheaper and have massive crowds. The problem with Australia is that it's such a huge country they have to play in three or four different cities. In Europe people can often easily drop into another country to see a concert if it's not going to be in theirs. Pity, because I'd probably go to Aussie to see them too. As it is I'm going to the UK in February and I'll be seeing WWRY there. |
Isis 15.10.2005 18:26 |
Dear dragonzflame When you missed out on WWRY - you could have come to Melbourne, it was on here for about a year (I think). I am sorry that NZ gets left out so much from most band tours. I hope we can just let Queen know that we want them - it is up to them if they come or not - but at least this letter will make up for some of the bad times they have had here when they toured in the early days. If you would still like to join us you are welcomed - if they come to Melbourne it shouldn't be too expensive for you to get here and go to their concert - (well it would be cheaper than flying to Japan or Europe to hear them play). If it happens and you do come to their concert in Melbourne let me know please. (Note for future reference). Thanks for your input and I hear what you are saying and it happens to Australia too. I am just one person who is thrying to change this by letting Queen know WE WANT THEM HERE. One voice is not enough but a group of voices are IMO. Isis |

Dear Serry... No it is not me who makes the rules at QZ but I will not take abuse on a post like this nor insults against Australia or Australians. I am trying to get the biggest and best thing to ever happen to Australia for ages to occur - Queen to tour here again. If people in QZ are not interested then just move and read on - There is no reason for anyone to bash a post like this and if I see it I will pull them up on it - I did not insult them I am just trying to get a job done here and people that are bashing this post are just getting in the way - there are hundreds of posts that they could bash but why would they even bother with this one - it seems stupid to me and I'm not going to take it full stop. Go and look on the other posts there are long term fans that have used QZ for ages that are fleeing these boards because of the bashings they are getting. Well if I see it on my posts and it is out of place or out of line I can comment as well and I will. What I said was not half as bad as the abusive personal attacks the bashers on these boards are using. If they want to bash my posts then fine, I have other posts up they can really bash and I wouldn't care - at the end of the day they won't make me run away. I stand my ground darling! Regards Isis |

I just think it's a shame that NZers would have to cross the ditch at all - and also sad that Auckland only ever got one concert. What they need to do is perform at the Big Day Out! Jesus. As I understand it, the ONE occasion where Queen had a problem in this country was at the Sunbury Festival in 1974. The band were actually very well received by the audience by the end of their set, but the compere/dj tried to whip up the crowd against them by telling them they didnt want to cheer for a bunch of bloody pommy poofters when there were great Aussie acts like the headliner still to come. He eventually prevailed. I dont think they were ever actually called tarts. Just one more example of how the internet spreads rumours far and wide as fact, and people like Rick who obviously know nothing about it or Australia except it as fact. As for Queen fans in Perth, well apart from our host Richard who is a friend of mine, there are lots of us! Fan gatherings, much fun had - two good friends of mine have Red Special replicas. One of them plays it regularly and is in the process of jamming with friends and working toward forming a band. So - lots of great Queen inspiration and fans out here in the wild wild Wait Awhile <grin> Steve |

(To Isis: I see your point, but you could say it in more polite and gentle way, good luck and I hope you'll see Q+PR in your country) |

To Serry you said: To Isis: I see your point, but you could say it in more polite and gentle way, good luck and I hope you'll see Q+PR in your country My Reply to you is: Ok I hear you and I will try to be more polite when I try to defend my posts - thanks for the input - I'm just getting a little frustrated on this post with some of the bashings that is all. I will ignore them in future then. Ta Isis |

Hi All We now have a website to make it easier for everyone - please go to link For those that have already joined up with Aussie Queens - thank you very much. The numbers are growing every day and this is great to see. We have opened the campaign up to all of Australia and New Zealand - this way Queen and Paul can decide where they want to go not be told where we think they should tour. So I guess that issue is now sorted out. In order to attract Queen and Paul to your city you will need to show numbers on this petition and show Queen and Paul where they are most wanted. We need anyone’s help even if you are not from Australia or New Zealand you are also welcomed to join us and show support - we have had many do so already. Thank you all very much for your help and interest - please pass the word around to other Queen fans even if they are not from Australia or New Zealand. If you can help us get our flyers up in the capital cities in New Zealand or Australia - can you please contact us and let us know. Thanks all. Isis |

Keep up the great work Isis. Sorry I haven't been around to support you, but I nicked off to Queenonline a while ago. I will put a post on there for us Aussies. I am going to organise a Queen meetup in Melbourne next year, so any contacts you have would be great. To the people in Perth - I lived there for 9 years myself, so I know exactly what you're talking about. But a flight to the eastern states would be worth it wouldn't it?? I flew to Perth (from Melb) last year just to see a Tribute Band!!! My friend flew to England and is going to Japan to see Queen & PR (yeah, easy when you have money & no kids!!) |

Yes I asked the Mods there for help and they were excellent and really are getting behind the movement. I hope more in these sorts of positions will help us out - We need some more people like this on the team. I also need co-coordinators for Perth, Darwin, Adelaide, Brisbane, Tassi and New Zealand - mainly to put flyers up for Aussie Queens - If anyone wants to and can help out please contact me! I need as much help as I can get. I have the flyers I just need people willing to stick them up in a shop window, supermarket, high schools, universities, in their gym or at work - I will be working on adding a feature to the website that will allow all of you to download the flyers off our web page - but until then email me and I will send them electronically to you. There are not enough of us on the boards to have enough impact so I will now have to go main stream to get as many Queen fans out there as I can that are not on these boards. We need thousands to make them stop and take note of this - hundreds will not be enough but is a great start. So if we have to have thousands of signatures to get the message across to Bri then I will do all I can to get the numbers - I know the Queen fans are out there and want Queen and PR to come on down it is just a matter of getting everyone to sign the petition. So Please, Please, Please - tell as many Queen fans that you can. Regards Isis Please note I cannot release any of the data I have collected apart from the reason I have stated in the petition under the Privacy Act of Australia. The information collected will solely be entrusted to Brian May himself - no third party! |
