Hello there :) I'm Lostio and I'm a recent Queen fan. I've started listening to some of their songs recently and couldn't stop myself from loving them. My no. 1 all-time band is, however, the Beatles. They are the one true band I love more than anything. But Queen are quickly coming up as a close second. So, I only wanted to ask you: What kind of songs would you recommend to a fresh new-born Queen fan like myself? I've alreay started listening to a lot of songs, which include: - Somebody To Love - You Take My Breath Away - Tie Your Mother Down - Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy - Flash - Play The Game - Another One Bites The Dust - Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Save Me - Body Language - Under Pressure - Innuendo - I'm Going Slightly Mad - These Are The Days Of Our Lives - Headlong - The Show Must Go On - Fat Bottomed Girls - Bicycle Race - Don't Stop Me Now - Let Me Entertain You - One Vision - A Kind Of Magic - Friends Will Be Friends - Who Wants To Live Forever - Scandal - The Miracle - I Want It All - The Invisible Man - Breakthru - We Will Rock You - We Are The Champions - Bohemian Rhapsody - You're My Best Friend - Seven Seas Of Rhye - Brighton Rock - Killer Queen - Now I'm Here - Radio Ga Ga - It's A Hard Life - Hammer To Fall - I Want To Break Free Yes, it's a lot already. ;P But I still want to find out some more, I can't get enough of them. So I wanted to ask for some suggestions, what do you think a new-arrival to Queen songs should listen to? My favorites so far are Bohemian Rhapsody, Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy, Somebody To Love, Bicylce Race, The Miracle, The Invisible Man, Seven Seas Of Rhye and Killer Queen. |

Oooh, I have the Greatest Hits albums. Both of them ;P That's where I got to listen most of the songs I listed. And I definately prefer the Greatest Hits I. Bicycle Race, Somebody To Love, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, Good Old Fashioned Lopver Boy, Tie Your Mother Down... I prefer those. Although I also enjoy Greatest Hits II a lot, especially Innuendo, The Miracle, The Invisible Man, One Vision, I Want To Break Free... I love both Greatest Hits CD's :) And I can also notice a change of style in both of them, but they're both great. In terms of favoritism, the Greatest Hits I CD is definately my favorite. |

GET QUEEN II!!!!!!!!!! No Matter What You Choose, You Have To Get Queen II first or second! Anyway, welcome darling. Great to have another polite Queen fan! |
The Fairy King 09.10.2005 18:57 |
Just visit them chronologically, this way you'll hear how they've grown as a band. So start with QUEEN I!!! If you only know the Greatest Hits, this album will be a huge difference, well it was for me in 1993... :D Welcome! by the way. |

You should buy the Queen Crown Jewels off of Ebay for $35. It is a blue felt covered box set with the first 8 albums reissued in mini-vinyl replicas. Another alternative is the 3cd Platnium Collcetion. |

Welcome aboard! To be honest, I'd get them in whatever order you want. There is no such thing as a "bad" Queen album, just albums that don't fit people's tastes. Just take a lucky guess, and good luck. |

Hi I think you should buy them all even if you have to get them from a second hand cd/record store or just order them in (even buy some cheap from ebay on auction - watch out for bootleg and copy stuff here though - make sure all the copyrights are in order before you buy them and they are official releases). I think since Queen is so big and they are doing new stuff now - you need to start at the beginning to get a full understanding of what they today and if Paul Rogers suits them or not. You should also try to get into the boys solo albums as well. I think when you are trying to get into Queen fully you need to check out all their work - there is so much of it there will be stuff that you like and stuff that you don't - that is what is great about Queen because they didn't care if you liked it or not - there was always plenty there for you to find something - and what you don't like today you may love tomorrow. These guys knew what they were doing and their music still lives on today - while you can get it now you should get yourself a copy of return of the Champions: Queen + Paul Rogers - even if you don't like it - it is an important cd for you to have in your collection IMO. Any other questions just ask me I'll help you out if I can and I am new here too and I was in your shoes not so long ago. Well enjoy the Queen journey I did. They are all really special guys. |

I'll agree with R Mercury's recommendation. But definitley, get them all eventually! (I have a feeling you will). Then, when you're done with those you can start on the solo albums! |

To R.Mercury *-You should buy the Queen Crown Jewels off of Ebay for $35. It is a blue felt covered box set with the first 8 albums reissued in mini-vinyl replicas.* We just ordered that in and it cost us nearly $400 AUS. I should have checked ebay first. |

If you already have GH 1 & 2, I wouldn't bother with The Platinum Collection. GH3 isn't great. There are a few good tracks on it, but most of them are on other albums. The Under Pressure Remix and No-One But You are great, but the AOBTD remix and TSMGO with Elton John on lead vocal are poor. BUY SHEER HEART ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! luv Munchsack |

Welcome aboard!! PLEASE READ, IMPORTANT!! heheh...well, here's my opinion. If you have got all 3 Greatest Hits than I suggest this. work your way from the beginning of Queen!! That is, the start of their discography with the album 'Queen', followed by 'Queen 2' etc. That way, you'll get a taste of queen and how thay changed from year to year!! rock on and keep the queen spirit alive!! \m/ |

Thanks for all the welcoming messages and recommendations. :) I'm 14 and the main reason I got into Queen was mostly because my father convinced me. I currently have fully listened to Greatest Hits I and Greatest Hits II. I also got both those in DVD, which I also fully watched. My favorites remain as the ones from their early albums. I loved Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy. And Bohemian Rhapsody is my all-time favorite, obviously. In fact, I found out my father actually has full of their albums. He's got Jazz, A Night At The Opera, A Day At The Races and Made In Heaven. So, I already got some of their albums. I'll start listening to the ones I've already got and then maybe buy Queen II, which's got Seven Seas Of Rhye, a song I also really love. |

Not so necessary; I found out my father's collection also includes the album The Game. :) I've listened to some songs off A Night At The Opera and really liked Seaside Rendevous. |

After all, my dad has got quite some Queen albums. Here's the full collection of his Queen albums: - Sheer Heart Attack - News Of The World - Made In Heaven - A Night At The Opera - A Day At The Races - Dance Traxx I - Hot Space - Flash Gordon - Live At Wembley '86 - Jazz - Waiting On A Death Trip - Le Fleur Du Mal Still quite a bit, and it has given me a lot to listen to. I've started to enjoy A Night At The Opera a lot and A Day At The Races. '39 is a really good song. :) Thanks for all those nice suggestions ;) I'm right now listening to In The Lap Of The Gods... Revisited. And liking it, too. |
