The Aruba people posted on QOL before they slept, but are clearly refusing to share the setlist. Let them enjoy their moment...it'll pass. |

So, they finally got rid off AKOM and Break Free and added two great BC songs. This is great news. The setlist is definately getting better. |
gazoulet 09.10.2005 11:54 |
It won't change until the end of this tour, it's clear and normal! But if there's a next tour, they'll play all the songs worked together, and we'll have some others from Queen's lasts albums. And if they play One Vision, Let me Live or Innuendo in Japan, I will be very very angry because I'm french and Japan is a bit far! |
Jjeroen 09.10.2005 12:54 |
Hmmm... SOME changes... Dropping AKOM and Break Free... fine with me, Two new, indeed GREAT Roders-compositions... Nice! Pitty though they dropped my favourite... Wishing Well... Pitty they dropped '39 pitty they did not play a 'new' QUEEN composition. |
deleted user 09.10.2005 13:23 |
i thought they wud never drop '39! it was brilliant in the set! wishing well i loved! its going to turn in to a paul rodgers featuring queen tour lol! we need some neew queen material to replace what they dropped! |
likecats 09.10.2005 13:49 |
Hmmm....Not the kind of setlist changes I was hoping for. I'm especially not thrilled about dropping Queen songs in favor of adding Bad Company songs. I've said elsewhere on this forum that I like Paul Rodgers but I've already heard him singing BC hits within the last few years, whereas I haven't seen Queen since '82. I really want to hear more Queen, less BC. I wish they hadn't dropped '39 too. Oh well, maybe if they really do a full U.S. tour in '06, they'll revamp everything. In the meantime, I'll just enjoy what I get at the Hollywood Bowl in a couple of weeks. |

I was at the show. It was amazing. I was really sorry they dropped '39, but I did not miss AKOM and IWTBF at all. The PR additions were electric. Bad Company and Rock & Roll Fantasy ripped it up. The crowd loved every second of it. Let them play what they like. It was fucking brilliant. A joyous experience. People were there for the band and the music. Queen fans galore. And for whoever asked, the whole population of the island is 100,000 people. The venue capacity was 5000 at the VERY most and it was packed to overflow capacity. They even had a celeb. One of the actresses from That 70s Show was there, along with people from the US, Canada, England, Austria, Germany, Brazil, Venezuala, Holland and who knows where else. Truly an international audience. The heat and humidity were astonishing but the band was absolutely on fire. Terrific, stupendous, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Can't say enough superlatives. |

It seems that everyone is saying they only played for 2 hours even. They will probably play a little longer in New Jersey and Hollywood, like they did in the UK and that will get a few more songs put back in.Just have to wait to see if they are songs we havent already heard so far. They know have an entire week to fool around and add a few things if they want to. |
PieterMC 10.10.2005 11:19 |
I agree that the two US shows will be slightly longer. The Aruba thing was a music festival aswell and bands typically play shorter sets at these type of things. |

PieterMC wrote: I agree that the two US shows will be slightly longer. They were the only act on the bill and had the whole evening to themselves. They had no reason to play an abbreviated set and I don't think they played any shorter set than they would have otherwise. They were just trying out a new set. A dry run for the US dates. I'm not trying to be argumentative with anybody. I just want people to have realistic expectations. If people go in thinking they're going to hear "Long Away" and "Its Late" and "Dragon Attack" and "Innuendo", they're going to be disappointed because they expected something that almost certainly isn't going to happen. If you look at the songs they took out and the songs they added, they're removing stuff that wasn't as well known in North America and replacing it with stuff that is very well known in North America. The audience in Aruba was absolutely joyous to see the band play and play so well, and I would hate for somebody to miss out on experiencing that kind of feeling at the US shows because they're upset that the band didn't do something that they probably weren't going to do in the first place. Trust me, unless you're a poodle, you will be knocked out by the set they played. They absolutely rocked. And if they play a set full of album tracks, I'll be happy to eat my words - especially if somebody sends me a boot of the show. |

I realistically expect "Now I'm Here"-it's on the Great Hits CD that everyone has in their collections, Brian did it in 1993 fall solo tour and pulled it off nicely, and well I personally suggested to Brian that they should play it here (LOL) |

Most realistic would be some further drop of THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES, maybe even RADIO GA-GA, and i'm pretty sure they'll at least try KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE or NOW I'M HERE. Seems like Brian did notice many of their fans disliking the weak I WANT TO BREAK FREE. And BAD COMPANY is a really big one. I'm very happy with that. Let's wait for more good news ;) |

I just know the tedency of some on this message board to indulge their most outrageous paranoid hyperbole, and so if I can head off someone going to the NJ or LA shows and coming out convinced that the band has betrayed them or sold them out because they didn't play "Sweet Lady" or "Hang on in There", I want to do so. I honestly think the set I saw in Aruba is the set for North America, with room for some minor alterations. I'm not rooting for no changes; I'm just trying to put the bar of expectation at something reasonable so that as few people go completely off their gourd apeshit as possible if they don't play "March of the Black Queen". And BAD COMPANY is a really big one. I'm very happy with that. Let's wait for more good news ;)That was a terrific addition. It killed. And the band played it beautifully. |

Let me find my stuff and I'll get it to you as soon as I can. Sorry I didn't think of it myself. Your site is excellent! Yes the "It's a Beautiful Day" remix and "Lose Yourself" was used as the intro. It was our key to go wild. Roger dropped his "he's wearing X condoms and he's just wearing the one" line about Danny and Jamie, but we threw the condoms at him anyway. Much to my mortification, the foil wrappers actually set off the metal detector when I went through security at the venue, and I had show the security guard the huge handful of condoms that were in my pocket to throw at Rog during the gig. I about died! ;) |
