Being that I have never seen such things on eBay, I assume there never were any Queen paper dolls or action figures. How did the Queen merchandising machine miss this opportunity?!!! Wouldn't that have been fun to have had a Freddie Mercury doll and been able to buy his numerous costumes for it? Okay. I would still like to do this. Maybe I will have to go out and buy a Ken doll and paint a mustache on it. Oh, cripes, then I will have to learn to sew. Wouldn't it be great if the official Queen site would manufacture this and put it in its store? |

Just think of all the fun Roger could have with Barbie..or Freddie with Ken, I suppose.. |

Queen were occasionally mentioned as one of the bands the company would consider, along with many many other bands. I think they got about as far as Ozzy and Hendrix before the Janice Joplin action figure pretty well did them in and they went back to just doing several different visual incarnations of KISS (which I assume was always their biggest seller anyway). |

Tower Records has action figures for Kiss, Aerosmith, Metallica, Alice Cooper. It WOULD be cool if they did do action figures for Queen, circa about 1974-1975, like when Freddie wore his black satin sequined covered cat suit and Brian wore his cape and they all looked so rockin' and dramatic! get your Queen super action figures. You can bend Freddie any way he WOULD want! You can bend Brian to play his Red Special at lightening speed. You can bend Roger to simultaneously hit his toms while taking on a groupie. You can bend John (oops..sorry John just stands there, he doesn't bend) (Just so you know if you buy John, he comes that way, he's NOT broken, he just doesn't move/bend!) |

If do you happen to buy any of the rock star toys, don't forget to let them out of their packaging so they don't go stir crazy. After all look what happened to Stinky Pete in Toy Story 2. |

Shit I wouldnt mind them making the whole band playing on stage as figures. Like they did for Motley Crue and Metallica. Id love to see one made for Rush too. |

And then bulk quantities are, of course, much less. Would anyone out there is Queenland pay $40 for a Freddie doll? Just testing the water. |

My girlfriend Mary bought an 'Officially Unofficial' Freddie Mercury paper doll set at Breakthru this year (Cleveland Rocks! was that room 833 making the beautiful noise?), but she lets me put it in my desk menagerie at work along with the Queen comics, cd sleeves, MK '82 poster etc-- pretty surreal! The Freddie wears several fabulous outfits: the white 'angel' frock, a brocade Japanese-style jacket, a chessboard catsuit, red silk lounge jacket WITH glass of champagne, white trousers (no pockets, no Coke bottle), a black Mercury suit (black Mercury? that surreal HydroGyrum!) The winner is the BoRhap outfit. Yeah he's got a hairy chest and briefs -- frankly, I would've guessed Freddie preferred a thong or commando style -- briefs seem more 'Brian' -- but John and Roger would be boxers, if a ask me ;) Jenn Waitt thank you for such a cool toy! You rock! |

Yes, there have been paper dolls of Queen around since 1993. Jenn Waitt is the artist who created them and you can sometimes find her at US Conventions ( and the occasional UK one) selling her "Officially Unoffical Queen Paper Dolls". They are indeed a treat, and a incredible novelty. There is nothing like them! I have all four bandmembers and they are all a hoot. I have heard that some of the members of the band themselves have these as well. They are definately worth getting your hands on if you can find them! Regarding the action figures, i would love to see them produced sometime as mentioned in the previous posts. It always angered me that bands like Metallica and the like can be "immortalized" in plastic and one of the biggest selling bands of all time is not! I for one would be first in line to purchase a 70's set! |
