Hi I am new here but I have followed Queen for some time - I see that most of you long-term fans seem divided over Rog and Bri teaming up with Paul Rogers - I just cut through the newsagency today on my way to the post office and this magazine jumped out from the rest: Guitar Legends: Queen (Displayed until October 17, 2005 - cost here is $13.50 AU). Well I just thought you would want to get it if you already didn't know it was out and if you play the guitar this is a must - Bri gives you all the sheet music (riffs) for the following songs: Boh Rhap, WATC, Ogre Battle, Stone Cold Crazy, Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
Now about this feud over Queen with Paul - well when you see that there are about 40 pages or so talking mainly on Freddie in this magazine I think Freddie is very much a part of this tour.
In my opinion if Queen and Paul Rogers never toured this magazine issue on Queen in Guitar Legends would not have been done - I am thankful to have this in my Queen collection. Thanks Rog and Bri and I hope you do come to Australia to give us a show as well – promise we won’t cut the wires to your light rig this time, or call you those ‘pommy poofters’…
Isis,
Of course, you are absolutely correct. I personally believe that they should have kicked the whole thing off in the US. If nothing else, it would have served as an acknowledgement that the USA has been without Brian and Roger for far too long. And also a flicking of "the bird" to the old bastards at Electrola / EMI that the promotion in the '80's should have been of far higher importance than was actually given.
However, I would say that one show is enough in terms of the repetitiveness of the material in the set - I'd hope that US audiences are given more of the material that made Queen so successful in the 70's, but, as they have a formula that was successful in Europe, I'd be surprised if they changed it now.
One thing is guaranteed though - you will have a great time. And so will they.
Did you see the Paul Rogers and Queen concert?
If so what did you think? I have only seen downloads of bits of it. I can't really tell from this material as the quality is poor and the sound is crap.
Just did this morning - it was only released here this week and last week when I asked for it - it wasn't out yet - today was shopping day and I now have it right in my hands -
I must say Roger has only one really nice photo of him in the cd booklet - on the last page - He looks a bit sick in the other shots - shame they used these photo's of him there are some really good ones on the net of him whilst on tour with Paul. Oh well just glad to get the cd.
I was still curious about what they sounded like live that was all - the stuff on the net is just glimpses and I will never see the concert so there is harm in getting some opportunity to see about 2 sec's of the concert that someone else was fortunate enough to see.
