hey i saw a sight that had copies of the full live aid dvd, i emailed them asking if the money went to charity and this is what the reply was!
"sorry for tardy response but site has been down since 8th August and only just received (thousands) of emails from last month.
Honestly mate do you think anybody here gives a shit if you think the cash is going to charity or not?
We have been on Radio One requesting Bob's paypal address and we accept cheques made payable directly to the Band Aid Charitable Trust.
Just about every corporate law firm in America has ordered a copy and we have received cease and desist letters along with various legal actions from companies around the globe.
You will be relieved to hear that your order has been cancelled and you will not be expected to make your charitable donation.
Complimentary copies have been sent to all known Live Aid Resources and to staff of many of the artistes themselves.
The fact that this is quite easily the best available copy in the world of the BBC broadcast means that it is destined to be pirated extensively
We only produced a thousand sets and the proceeds from the sales is the kind of figure we blow on a good weekend in Amsterdam so I don't really think that the people responsible would risk their significant salaries on a scam worth a few grand at best.
We wouldn't need to pertend the profits were going to charity just to sell a thousand copies.
We could have sold 10 thousand at Live 8 if we could have been bothered to kep unloading the bloody things from the vans.
It exists because there isn't a full broadcast available elsewhere.
