There's this girl in my Bioethics class and she always is mocking me. and yesterday I went to get a computer and I brushed against her by accident and she screamed and started yelling about how i was "ALL UP ON" her. And I said "no one WANTS to be all up on YOU". Then she goes "TAKE A SHOWER!" and my friend Connie said to me "you should tell her to get a life". I replied "nah, i'm not gonna be bothered. at least i'm not a preppy slut." and the girl overheard and complained to the teacher. So today, the teacher takes me out and gives me a lecture about keeping my opinions to myself. And then the girl's thug boyfriend comes up to me and goes "you nearly lost your life yesterday! don't EVER say anything like that EVER AGAIN!" WTF? What do I do? |

You need to make sure your parent(s) are aware of what is going on, make your teacher aware of it, your parent(s) need to make the school's administration (Principal, Assistant Principal) aware via written documentation and phone call. If you and your parents don't get the reaction you want out of the school, make a police report. |

Obviously the teacher didn't understand the full scope of the situation. You need to tell her privately what actually happened. Any good teacher will try to be fair. Or you could just ignore it and try to stay out of that girl's way. The boyfriend is trying to "protect" her in the only way he knows how: by being an intimidating asshole. If you think the threat was serious I'd alert the appropriate authorities. But I'm guessing it was probably just a bluff intended to "keep you in line". The teacher gave you a lecture, so what? A lecture never hurt anybody. Yes, it's an injustice. I suggest you get used to it, life will be full of injustices when you're an adult and there are some (ones that don't cause you any actual harm) that you just need to skip over. Save the torch-carrying for serious injustices like discrimination or overt cruelty. If you get any further threats from these kids, that's when I'd get your parents and the school administration involved. Otherwise, it's not the end of the world. Personally I'd get more up-in-arms over an unfair grade than I would a misplaced lecture. |

To me , this is something that has gone on for ages. I can remember when I was in school and thats the only types of people you would see. If it wasnt for the gangster wannabes I most probably wouldnt have dropped out of school. If I did anything to defend myself I was threatend by almost the whole school population except for the headbangers (Which is what people who listend to rock was called , even tho its a heavy metal reference) I dont even think we should have been classified as this its almost bad as being racially exploited. I went to the principle I even went to the police. Nothing got done because once they were around they acted like perfect angels. But once they were all gone they all started back up again. Its sad but these kids even then as I was a teenager in the early to mid 90s acted like this. Its only getting far worse now if it wasnt already then because now it also involves drugs. Where are the parents? Truth is the parents cant controll them either because either they dont know what to do or they are afraid of their own children. Its sad but true. Ron |

How would I deal with this? I suppose I can't really relate to this, but generally, there is only one way to relate to a person with such an attitude, and that is with wit. Generally, angry people are unable to develop wit, as their irascibility usually tips before they are able to return an attack with anything thoughtful. Remember, nothing is more fun than tearing apart such an easily-provoked person with the most acute of your insults, watching their resentment accumulate, while you stand there, confident, not giving a damn. Oh, and use sophisticated diction. Words she won't be able to understand. That always gets to them. And when she acts like nobody should know what that word means, it's open game season on her intelligence. Now, about that boyfriend thing. I would probably just kick his ass, not to mention that thugs can't fight. But that's probably not the route you should take. So, I guess, the only thing you can do is a) enroll in some martial arts class or b) find a boyfriend who can do the work for you. Anyway, a real man would never harm a lady, so it shouldn't be too hard to have his ass kicked. |

Depends how seriously your getting bullied, and by how many people. If its just by one person and not very serious, just take the piss back. If its serious id knock her teeth out, break her jaw/nose/fingers/wrist/ribs, anything like that, and she is likely to stop. If its by a multiple people violence probably isnt the best course. |

My wife read to me the note he got from school while I was at work. Basicly, all it stated was that he blurted "oh no" during class. My wife sending a note back stating she thinks the teacher over-reacted, but it is her class. In the teacher's defense, she is a young, new teacher that is recently married and does not have children. Also, my son has ADHT and has trouble sitting still or paying attnetion. However, he is a good student, and previous teachers have done well with him. I think she is frustrated with his ADHT. However, she has a personality of a toad, and appears to be better suited to a military academy. Her grading of papers is ridiculous, as she is less concerned with whether a math problem is correct, than if whether t's are crossed or i's are dotted. For example, in simplistic terms here is a math problem ... Two doggies went to the park. Then two more doggies arrived. How many doggies are there? If you answered "4", you would be completely wrong. What is the real answer? "4 doggies" |

My mum had me taken out of a class when I was in the equivalent of 5th grade because the teacher made me sit on the floor by myself all day for allegedly swinging on my chair. I'm not familiar with ADHT. What is that? ADD is Attention Deficit Disorder and ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder but I haven't heard of ADHT yet. Dragonzflame is correct about the teacher wearing down your son's confidence. Half the battle of young students is getting the confidence up to be able to answer the questions. If they feel that no one thinks they can do it, then they will believe it as well. |

It is a "writing" year. They have many portfolios pieces they must complete and they are scored as "Novice, Apprentice, Proficient, and Distinguised." These portfolios follow them until Senior year. There is much stress on the teachers to get each student to either the Proficient or Distinguished level. That's probably why your son's teacher is being such a freak. Even still, there is no reason for your son to have his recess taken for a one time, accidental outburst or a sneeze. I'd ask for clarification from his teacher on this. I think there is something missing from the story on someone's end. |
