I was chatting to a friend and he told me about wanting to change his band name to Fox, but couldn't because there was a band called that in the 70's. He then pointed me to a webpage about them. I got curious and had a search for them.
Anyway, I found this note purely by chance:
"It appears that Roger Taylor of 'Queen' added backing vocals to the track 'Survival' on Fox's 'Tails
of Illusion' album. Queen were in the same studio recording 'A Night at the Opera'.:
I mean, what are the chances?! And as a sidenote, a few minutes after he was talking about changing the name of his band to Fox, I saw a fox in my front garden!! Coincidence or what?!
So, does anyone know anything more about this track? What does it sound like?
Peace,
Adam.

As for your friend's band, "Fox" should be OK - as this band was called "Foxx" after the lead singer Noosha Foxx. They had hit singles with "Only You", and "S-s-s-single bed", in the mid 1970's.
They were sandwiched between post glam - and pre-punk, and like most bands of this era, were killed off by the punk revolution of mid 1976, early 1977.
The track "Survival" is quite poppy and very much of it's time, with lyrics like:
"The Media
Are getting greedier",
The chorus builds on the phrase,
"Getting higher,
higher,
higher,
higher"
while in the background Roger is singing the word "Higher" in harmony and higher than anyone else, very like his highest Bo Rhap harmonies. (Which is not surprising considering they were cut at the same time and place - Night At The Opera Sessions at Sarm East, August 1975).
Holden Caulfield wrote: Just so you know: it is indeed spelled Fox with 1 X.

No offence intended towards John of course.
HC
No offence taken. I seem to remember that she spelt her name with two "X"s - I guess I was mistaken.
It now means Adam's friends can be called "FOXX" instead!
