i was talking to my drummer (who likes queen as well) what would be the best band.
we came up with a band where you cant have members from your favourite band and can only have 1 member from another band.
we came up with
Drummer-dave grohl (foo fighters/nirvana)
bass-flea (chilli peppers)
guitarist kirk hammett (metallica)
guitarist slash (velvet revolver/GNR)
singer paul rodgers (free/bad company)
we chose it bocause they have a good diversity and will mix these tastes into one hybrid
what would your band be
Here is mine...
John Lennon - Guitar, Vocals
Johnny Cash - Guitar, Vocals
Scotty Moore - Guitar
Willie Nelson - Guitar, Vocals
Paul McCartney (Wings) - Bass, Vocals
Benmont Tench - Piano, Keys
Max Weinberg - Drums
and...
Elvis Presley - Jumpsuit, Mic

Flea is the best bass player I can think of. He's amazing.
Freddie Mercury - vocals, piano
Dave Grohl - drums
Slash and Brian May - guitars
Roger Waters - bass
Roger Waters aside, I think the other four would get along well. :) Who knows about Roger, though!

Flea is the best bass player I can think of. He's amazing.
I personally favor Billy Sheehan and John Myung in the best bassist category.
Anyway, my band would be a little different.
I'm going to start with drummers, because mine is so clearly going to be Buddy Rich. In my opinion, all other drummers fade in comparison. And I'm talking Baker, Bonham, Peart, Moon...you name it: neophytes.
For guitarists, I will have to go with Paul Gilbert. Amazing, harmonious, technical, creative. One of my all time favorite guitarists.
As a bassist, I will opt not to choose Sheehan as he was a bandmate of Gilbert's, and we want some variety here. Myung takes it.
Vocals...uh...to be honest, I don't care about any stipulations on this band...there can be only one: Freddie Mercury. It's kind of like the Buddy Rich type-deal. Except I thought I might have come up with somebody else in this category. Nope.
This band seems to lean towards heavy rock, but I have my faith in Rich that he would have been able to perfectly adapt to this scenario, while preserving his big band flair.
the thing with Randy is we can only ever imagine how fucking good he would get
but those two first Blizzard albums gave me enough to see - he was fucking awesome...
he was even going back to school to learn classical - when he was taken away from this earth.....and only in his early 20s
his Quiet Riot stuff was cool too
My ideal band would be something like this:
Freddie Mercury - frontman, vocals, piano
Steve Lukather - Guitars, volcals
Mike Porcaro - Bass
(both Toto)
Brian May - Guitars
Roger Taylor - Drums

No.
I wanted to pick a fifth and a sixth, but I thought THAT would be overkill.
Drummer/Singer: Taylor Hawkins
Bass: Jason Newsted
Guitarist : Kirk Hammell
Guitarist/Singer: Brian May
Guitarist/Singer : Dave Grohl
Singer/Piano: Freddie Mercury
I'm having 2 from each....
MY IDEAL BAND...........................
LEAD SINGER
William Hung
BACK UP SINGERS
Lindsay Lohan
Ashlee Simpson
Hillary Duff
GUITARIST
Isaac Hanson
KEYBOARDS
Taylor Hanson
DRUMMER
Ringo Starr

mine -
Guitars - John Petrucci/Randy Rhoads
Vox - Freddie
Bass - Roger Waters
Drums - John Bohnam
I personally find Petrucci good, but not great. And Rhoads was overrated just because he died. I mean, he was truly great, and one of the most well-known metal shred guitarists, but you still have people like Batio and Gilbert who would have blown him away, no matter how much longer he lived. And you also have guitarists like Van Halen who are much more mainstream, if that is the issue.

not true about Rhoads....he was way ahead if EVH, playing wise, technique, soloing. he had a vast knowlegde of guitar/classical. Had he still been alive now, he would be an all time great (is considered now as well). I dont care much for Batio (2 guitar playing is kina pointless - good for show but pointless IMO). As for petrucci, I think personally think he kicks ass (excellent music writter/songwriter) But you and everyone else is entitled to their opinion though!
