I have been a queen fan since I was 25 years old and saw them live for the first time in 1974 and caught their act 5-6 times since then. Anyway, my wife and I will spend the weekend in New York next month (we live in Florida now)and catch the show at the Meadowlands. I will keep my mind and heart open and enjoy, I know.
What I really want to share though is how Queen are now the "in" band with our three grandkids. They range from 5 to 12 and play my Queen cd's all the time. Bicycle race started it all off but now anything goes. I see little Freddie moves from the youngest every now and then. We are taking the 12 year old and he cannot wait.
Nice to see that quality does indeed last and appeal to newer generations. I think I have created little redneck Queen monsters.
i too am astonished how young some queen fans are, and its amazing there music still reaches all ages, because imo the beatles music does not, anyone see brian mays post on that how he couldn'y believe how his youngster or whoever it was hadn't heard of most of the beatles songs which were being played by a tribute band, if you notice nearly all these music polls all around the world these days, its always queen thats winning them etc.. were once upon a time the beatles would of been up there, in short i think true quality crosses all boundries i.e. age groups there music still sounds exciting today as it did first time round,
When I went to the IAKM tribute band concert the other night I was amazed at how many kids under the age of 18 were there. Most were with thier parents so Im sure thier parents influenced them. Its great that Queen will live on for many generations. All the more reason to release a greatest hits 3 DVD soon and a box set collection.
I have found here on Queenzone and when I talk to everyday people, an unbelievable amount of kids between about 12-18 who LOVE Queen.
Just wonderful that GREAT music by REAL and GREAT musicians/songwriters is STILL appreciated and over this rap and boy/girl band crap.
I think your grandchildren will enjoy We Will Rock You, especially if they like Queen music. I went to see it in London and ejoyed it, but I would have enjoyed it more if I had closed my eyes and listened only to the music.
Do you that here in belgium some ppl of about 19-20-21 young youngsters did have a go with me because they thought Queen was bloody oldies and f* not cool for them... I can tell you they got nearly kicked by some 14-15-16 young youngsters and they took my defence.... since mid July-August, there are always coming around to my flat to see pick of past times and they all want to know more about Queen....
