Stockholm, 1982. "Save Me". Freddie starts to sing "It started off so well...". Brian misses his cue. Freddie: "It didn't start off so fucking well!" |

Well, my favorite would have to be. "We'll do that one later darling" in response to my constant yelling for "Another One Bites The Dust" at the Detroit 1980 show, yes, he looked right at me and said that. of course there are no boots from that night, so if you are looking for Quotes that can be proven I guess mine would be from "Live Killers" "The Things we do for money, haha ha" |
mystic_rhythms 28.09.2005 20:52 |
I believe that quote is after they perform Dreamer's Ball, Freddie never really liked that song, and we all still wonder why it was on Jazz. It's a good song though. My fave would be when they performed It's A Hard Life at a gig in '84, not sure where. "If I don't hit this first note, I'll kill myself!" funny, and obviously, he hit that first note :p |

Here is a great one.Philadelphia Spectrum 1982.Remember when Freddie had his little gag where he would take a drink from a big cup,and then throw the excess out into the crowd, wetting a few people.Well a fan does the same thing right back to Freddie.Dousing him with whatever was in there cup.Of course Freddie being a man of class, but also biting wit, takes a step back gives one of his classic bows and say,s"So that's why they call you Filthydelphia".The whole place erupted in laughter!:0) |

And there's some beauties here tonight, I can tell you... 2 - "about ten years ago I knew about three chords on the guitar. And now, now in 1982, I know three chords on the guitar." |

Oh man...Freddie certainly could be a stand-up comedian at times. Before I got the Wembley DVD, during that whole bit with the water, I had the strangest impression that someone beaned Freddie with a tambourine as he was coming back, prompting Fred to curse at them (barely audible) and then complain to Brian, "Right, give us the right key, for fuck's sake..." |

A quick answer without thinking over all I have heard would be during the Wembley '86 concert when he talks about the rumours of Queen breaking up. "There talking from here!" and so on. The part I like is his statement that they will be together... "Until we bloody well die." He kept that promise. After all the saga, in position to where he could walk and go solo with no threat of real loss or much conflict against his own desires... He stood in front of that massive audience and pledged his devotion to Queen, a decision suppressing massive egotistical gratification in favor of a band he truly appreciated, even during a time when vanity could have consumed him. Freddie was a showboat star like no other, but in spite of his theatrical posturing, his ego was in check enough to respect and honor the 3 mates that he combined with to make Queen. I love that quote, because it shows that in all probability, it took death to tear the band from it's loyal union, a union which has brought me to the point of wasting my time writing long e-mails like this of endless praise and gratitude in worshiping a band that gives me entertainment of the likes no other art form can come near in multitude. I also like the Milton Keynes "It's only a Bloody record." speach. |

Live Killers" "The Things we do for money, haha ha" I believe that quote is after they perform Dreamer's Ball, Freddie never really liked that song, and we all still wonder why it was on Jazz. Sorry, you're wrong. That quote on "Live Killers" comes from Paris. A member of the Royal Family (Tony?) chucked a top hat on stage that said "all the way from the UK to say we love you". Freddie picked it up, read it and put it on his head. Then said - "The things you have to do for money". I know. I was there. All 3 nights. |

There's a quite good one set to a very fine melody in G in Frank '82, as far as I remember - It goes more or less like: "All right, aaalll riiight, wooo...u-ooo-oow..., everythiiiing, is gonna beeee, fuckingwell'all riiiight!". The last measures have even some syncopation in them, it's cool. lol Then there was, at the same gig, something more or less like: "I must say, every time we come to Frank you guys are crazy, I mean, you mothers are wild, uh? We like it that way. Don't you forget it?", and then he delivers the "if you don't wanna hear it, fucking go home" speech. This one is his Gettysburg address of sorts! AmeriQueen remembered one that is very dear to me - the "we just wanna try a few sounds" or "it's only a bloody record, people get so excited about these things...", at Milton Keynes, before, by the way, a jaw-dropping performance of Staying Power. |

John starts playing opening bass line to Under-pressure, not suppose to) Freddie to John: ahhhh, fuck off!" (laughter) Come back if I think of any others! LOL! I distinctly remember him saying that...I saw that on the "Live! At Montreal DVD"..it kept me in splits! LOL! |

AmeriQueen wrote: A quick answer without thinking over all I have heard would be during the Wembley '86 concert when he talks about the rumours of Queen breaking up. Fantastic post! |

A HILARIOUS THREAD! My fav quote is right after Freddie says: "Do you like my jewels, they're real diamonds. It's a present from the devil himself." Then he adds: "You don't believe me?" Then the Rock in Rio Concert: "This was for all of you Rock in Rio people", audience gets wild. I think it was on his vocal improvisation. And also when he makes the audience sing along EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOO in the end of it when the people manage to repeat it he tells them: "Fuck you!" (sorry don't remember which concert was that) |

Mine has to be from the one and only time I saw them, at the Boston Garden in 82. He says something like "It's like a fucking turkish bath in here!" If any one out there knew what the Boston Garden was like in the hot summer months you know exactly what he means (No A.C.)! |

Some of my favourite quotes by Freddie enjoy it! "Rod Stewart, Eiton John and I were going to form a band called Hair, Nose and Teeth after the three of us. But it hasn't happened because none of us can agree on the order of the words!" "The reason we're successful, darling? My overall charisma, of course." "I don't want to change the world with our music... I like to write songs for fun, for modern consumption. People can discard them like a used tissue afterwards. You listen to it, like It, discard It, then put on the next. Disposable pop, yes." "I enjoy being a bitch. I enjoy being surrounded by bitches. Boredom is the biggest disease in the world, darling. Sometimes I think there must be more to life than rushing round the world like a mad thing getting bored." "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." "I don't like the way my teeth protrude. I'm going to have them done, but I just haven't had the time. Apart from that...I'm perfect." "The most important thing, darling, is to live a fabulous life. As long as it's fabulous, I don't care how long it is." "I need the extra teeth!" "I think I'm going to go mad in a few years time. I'm going to be one of those insane musicians." "There was never a doubt, darling, never. I just knew we would make it. I told everyone who asked just that." "We aimed for the top slot. We were not going to be satisfied with anything less." "Fuck them, darling, if they just don't get it." "Roger and I go poncing and ultrablagging just about everywhere and lately we've been termed a couple of queens." "Does it mean this, does it mean that, that's all anybody wants to know. Fuck them, darling. I will say no more than what any decent poet would say if you dared ask him to analyse his work: If you see it, dear, then it's there." "I shall be Marlene. What a delicious thought!" "I love to surround myself with strange and interesting people because they make me feel more alive. Extremely straight people bore me stiff. I love freaky people around me. By nature I'm restless and highly-strung, so I wouldn't make a very good family man. Deep down inside I am a very emotional person, a person of real extremes, and often that's destructive both to myself and others." "I didn't have to take my knickers off, dear. Nobody forced me!" "I'm going to relax for a while. Maybe I'll get a blow job. Hell, it's Halloween, right?" "I've made no effort to become a guitar hero because I can't play the fucking guitar." "I'm just an old slag who gets up in the morning, scratches his head, and wonders who he wants to fuck." "What will I be doing in twenty years' time? I'll be dead, darling! Are you crazy?" & many others........ |
