The sound of silence.....LOL
BRIAN ALL DOUGH I HAVE TO SAY IT MISSES SOMETHING AND I WAS EXPECTING A BIT MORE FROM THE 2ND ONE (I DID LIKE THE PIANO PIECE AFTER THE SONG "ANOTHER WORLD" AND I DO LIKE HIS VERSION OF JIMI HENDRIXES "A RAINY WISH"--- DID LIKE ROGERS HAPPINESS AND SOME SONG OF THE ELECTRIC FIRE, BUT NOT THE EARLY ONCE OR THE CROSS ONCE!!! I DO LIKE FREDDIES ALBUM WITH MONSERAT BUT NOT THE 1ST ONE...
Of all the solo stuff I like Roger's "Electric Fire" CD. If you notice the songs are pretty similar to those on "Happiness" but I like these songs better. Brian's solo stuff is not very interesting and Freddie never had the chance to use proper instrumentation for his works. I do, however, really enjoy the Furia soundtrack and the Barcelona CD.
If we're talking about Queen...and RELATED...
I urge everyone on this thread to pick up a copy of Tim Staffell's album aMIGO. It's tremendous! link
It's nothing like what Smile or Queen did - but at the same time, it's very fresh!!
I highly recommend it! (HE takes my vote for 'recent' solo stuff....)
too tough...I'd just have to say Brian's AND Roger's.....Brian really rocks out although I actually wish even heavier and Roger is tremendously creative....Happiness was too mellow for me though.....Freddie's solo stuff was weak although his vocals naturally are stunning
Although I like the diversity you get with Queen music, the guitar is what I like most, so Brian's stuff appeals a lot from that point of view. Furia is a good soundtrack (if only I could see the film!!!). Brian should look to do more soundtracks when the Queen train finally pulls into the sidelines.
But I like Roger's style and I think Electric Fire is great. I like some Cross stuff too (mad bad is good due to the other band member's influence, but Shove It has some good stuff which might have benefitted from similar input)
I think Freddie wanted more control in recording Mr Bad Guy which is why it's so synth based. And also he wanted to steer away from Queen influences. I think they're good songs which could be recorded better. Musically Barcelona is fantastic, although I don't listen to it much to be honest.
1. Roger's
2. Freddie's
3. Brian's
4. No Turning Back
9999999. The Cross
I know its strange that I love Roger's stuff but HATE the Cross. But lets face The Cross were just a bad Heavy Rock band like Magnum and Thunder.
I love all of Roger's solo stuff, probably Strange Frontier the least (although Man On Fire, It's An Illusion, Masters Of War and Racing In The Street are all great songs). Although, I'd go as far as saying I Wanna Testify is one of my favourite Rog songs, and The Cross version of Final Destination is far better than the Yoshiki version (assuming the Yoshiki version is the b-side to Foreign Sand and I've not gotten muddled).
Brian's solo stuff is ok, I like Back To The Light as a concept and an album compared to Another World, which was a bit more of collection of tracks, albeit some good ones. As someone said, Furia is a brilliant album - I love Bri's atmospheric soundtrack work (and Dream Of Thee is lyrically a very moving song).
I love Mr Bad Guy, just coz its Fred, but Barcelona is a far superior album (especially The Golden Boy - what a song).
And No Turning Back is ok, I guess.
But aMigo, as someone else said, is a great album, very refreshing. It's a shame Roger couldn't get the time to feature on it, could have made Earth and Doing Alright even more impressive.
Brian, because he was the one who used more Queen elements on his solo work.
I know many people are going to kill me for saying this, but 'Mr. Bad Guy' sucks ass. It's just too much synthesized gay 80s pop. I like a couple of songs, but for the most part 'Mr.Bad Guy' is a disposable album.
However, I have to say that 'Barcelona' was the best solo effort by any Queen member. I'm not really into Opera, but I found the whole album to be absolutely fascinating.

Albums like "Fun In Space", "Strange Frontier", "Happiness" and "Electric Fire" are jewels in rock'n'roll music!
I adore Roger Taylor and I really hope he made another great album!
Oh my god... I get wet!
