OK, here's the deal: I spoke on the phone to a very nice lady in the parking office at Continental Airlines Arena last week and got the straight dope on tailgating before the Queen gig. Read on, then rock on! WHEN: Starting at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 16, 2005 (plenty of time to recover from whatever you do Saturday night!) WHERE: The Meadowlands, Continental Airlines Arena Parking Lots 20/21. Look for the fabulous and mirthful people having fun. (link to parking lot map: link zones marked in green are designated "tailgate zones") WHO: All Queen fans--regardless of which web site you frequent! ;) WHY: It's a QUEEN gig, doofus!! You had to ask? BRING: BYO* whatever: food, drinks, a grill if you want to cook, extra food, etc. if you want to share, chairs if you want to sit, and a handful of condoms to throw at Roger at the proper time at the gig ;) Sorry Rog, but it's a great sight gag! *BYO = bring your own Parking Details: --Parking Fee: $15/car --Parking attendants will enforce a "one car, one space" rule --If you arrive before the attendants are there to collect parking fees at the entrance to the lot, they will come around to collect them while we are tailgating, so please be prepared to pay them when they request it. From The Meadowlands website: TAILGATING RULES Tailgating is permitted provided guests tailgate in the same space occupied by their vehicle. Please be courteous to your fellow fans -- open parking spaces should not be used for tailgating. Grills are permitted for tailgating enjoyment, provided guests do so only in the same space occupied by their vehicle. However, their use near buildings or in any area where guests or property may be damaged is strictly prohibited. Please do not discard hot coals near vehicles or in plastic waste receptacles. Open fires are not permitted. Trash receptacles are located throughout the Sports Complex parking lots and near the Arena entrances. Please bag and dispose of your trash to make it safer for vehicles exiting the Sports Complex after the game. Ball playing and frisbee tossing in the Arena parking lots and roadways are safety hazards and are not permitted. Many injuries occur as a result of these activities. Illegal parking outside the Sports Complex on area roadways, medians, grass malls and vehicle breakdown lanes should not be attempted. Violators will be ticketed by local police and/or towed at owner's expense. Overnight parking (including RVs) is not permitted. Port-o-sans/portable toilets are located throughout the parking lots. Port-o-sans for guests with disabilities are available in Lots 21 and 22. ----------------------------------------(end of stuff from The Meadowlands' web site------------ We've got people coming in from such far-flung locations as the UK, Toronto, and Salt Lake City, not to mention all the Spike Edney fans. Let's properly welcome the world's best live band back to "foreign sand" and treat our UK Queen cousins/friends who are coming over for the gig to some of the same terrific hospitality and warm friendship that they showed those of us from the US and elsewhere at the UK gigs this Spring and at Hyde Park in July. DRESS CODE: Pieter: Wear your kilt, man! Wendy: Don't forget your funnel. Iron Eagle: Wear something that will allow you to shake your groove thang! ;) Everyone else: Wear what you want, Queen apparel is always in style. I've got a cool $20 for the first guy who shows up in a Freddie Mercury harlequin leotard! Feel free to email me if you have questions or brilliant ideas: crazylittlething@queenzone dot com. Let us know here if you're coming. See you at the gig! |

Okay..... So is everyone bringing food? Who is bringing the sound system to play music on? This CAN'T be a QueenGate Party without Queen music blasting from all areas! |
Crazy LittleThing 15.10.2005 01:12 |
I'm bringing home made salsa (about a gallon of it) tortilla chips, a couple of pounds of shrimp to throw on Merc's barbie on bamboo skewers, some brownies as an homage to Freddie and the special brownies he gave the cops when they showed up at his party because his neighbors complained about the noise. There will not be any hallucinogenic substances in my brownies, just pecans. Also bringing about 100 plastic cups, some paper plates, napkins, and if I remember where I put them, a bunch of those wet nap things to clean messy hands. If someone has a stack of those "Hello, My Name Is" nametags, knock yourself out, and bring 'em. I will claim that I am either Lisser, or Pamela Anderson ;) I figure Sunday morning I will make a run to a grocery store in Newark and get some beer, sodas, and some more snacks, veggies and dip, things like that. I've invited Jacky and the UK fan club folks (about 20 or so people) some are going to the tea party, but the others can hang with all of us COOL kids! And yes, a bottle of Moet et Chandon, not in a pretty cabinet, but in a plastic cooler. It just needs to be cold, not perfect. Please bring something to share if you are able to . . . some extra food, a case of beer or soft drinks, munchies, pictures of iron eagle doing the famous ((((((sexxxxxy!!!)))))) OK, maybe the iron eagle pic is pushing it. Beer, soft drinks, and/or munchies are fine. Vodka is also good. As is ice to keep the drinks cold. See you Sunday everybody and some of you, sooner! Shariiiif don't like iiiiit Rock the car park! Rock the car park! (my apologies to The Clash) ps: I've got an iPod loaded with most of the Queen catalogue and a lot of other music too. My car stereo ain't gonna win any competitions, but it's better than nothing. Just gotta be sure I don't run the battery down . . . |
Jolly Roger 15.10.2005 07:53 |
Ah dear crazy little thing, You are bringing that which all Pirates of the Caribbean desire most of all - red gold called 'Salsa', and a gall(e)on of the red nectar to be sure. Eh me hearties! Beware unless the 'Queen of Salsa' ensnares ye in her silken web. We Pirates is shipwrecked on some foreign sand and have lost our bearings (do galleons have bearings?) but sends our heartiest greetings to all ye lubbers who is goingto the feast. Avast there before we keelhauls ye! JR |
Crazy LittleThing 15.10.2005 07:58 |
Hey! Who you callin' "ho"? ;) Jolly Roger indeed. Keep yer sticks about ye, there be pirates here! Argh! |
Deacons 1st Choice 15.10.2005 08:08 |
Avast there me Mateys...Arrr... Let's hope to be that King Neptune blesses us with calm seas...and a bit o' Sun would not be too hard either lads. Tis' a long journey from where thee be....Arrrr.... Parrot squaks: "Arck! Bit o' Sun! Bit O' Sun!" ( whistles) |
Jolly Roger 15.10.2005 08:13 |
'Tis a pity indeed that my crew (villains, the lot of them) cannot be there to sample the wares - and if this Queen of the Salsa offers ye a drink that looks like Ronald's Milkshake, beware! It packs a kick, like a 16-pound cannon-ball landing on yer toes. It ain't real if it ain't got an umbrelly in it. And if some band of vagabonds playing geetars and stuff should invite you in, do so with utmost care. They weave spells so magic that you'll end up feeling happy(never mind the other six, they ain't important)at spending your hard earned dubloons. Arr.... Cap'n JR |

Happy/bizarre memory of New Jersey: mistakenly hitting random strangers in the back of the head with condoms intended for Roger.
