I've got a copy of Earls Court 1977 first night on DVD (a DVD-R), of which I need to make a copy.
I've installed CloneDVD on my pc, but unfortunately when I put the cd in the tray the pc doesn't recognise that it is there, won't autorun or anything. Therefore CloneDVD won't copy it.
It works fine on my DVD player, plays as normal...
Can anyone help?
Occasionally there are going to be discs that your drive won't recognize at all, no matter what program you try.. if the drive won't read it, you're screwed. I can't load the 'Becoming Queen' DVD on mine for example.
The only thing you can do is look for a firmware upgrade for your drive. Sometimes an updated one will help.
Try cleaning the disc with cold running water and dry with a lint free cloth.
Put the disc in your DVD burner, not in your DVD ROM, and try to copy to your HD rather than disc to disc.
If windows recognises the DVD but you still can't copy it, try Isobuster (link to try and recover the data and re-burn using Nero or any other DVD authoring software.
Good luck!
When the disc does not show in your Windows explorer, it's most likely damaged. There is a software called DVD shrink which was originally made for making a DVD small enough to fit on a DVD-R but it reads the data, too. If DVD shrink does not read the DVD and isobuster (which repairs a certain amount of damaged data)fails to restore a copy, you cannot do anything but get a new copy.
