after being on here for a few months, i have found out that i'm just about the only one on here who likes this song
who else likes this song? and for you people who don't, why don't you like it?
personally i think its a very good and catchy melody, and the chorus just sounds cool
Oh I've always loved that song. Probably because it was the b-side to Another One Bites the Dust here in the states, and that single was the first Queen product I ever owned, so I naturally played both sides quite a bit :)
I personally like this song because it's very interesting musically. It starts with this funk-style, bassline thing, and then goes on with this rockabilly style ("you need help" part). I like that.
It's a great song! Full with clever Freddie musical tricks. Perhaps people don't like it because they can't connect the happy-peppy style of music with the somewhat morbid lyrics?

Looks like you're not as alone as you thought... I love this song too - great lyrics, bass line AND guitar solo. Actually kinda like Body Language... :P

My friend was singing it and her Mum said 'What are you singing!' like it's a death threat or something. I love the song. I love how it's a morbid subject with a catchy happy tune and that's what's great.
I didn't like it. It sounded too bare. I like the usual rich sounds Queen puts out. Plus, it seemed a little over the top with a public service announcement for kids. But it perhaps worked.
I remember reading a transcript from a radio interview with Roger Taylor back in '97, just after Hong Kong had returned to China. This HK police chief called in and was carrying on about how Queen's music always calmed him down. Then he said "I was thinking about jumping out my office window this morning, but I listened to Queen and decided not too." Roger says "Um.....please don't do that." and then stammers on a bit more before the line goes dead. Poor Roger.
just last night, i was listening to innuendo, and i got really depressed, so i put this song on, and WALLAH!!! i feel better
i like how its so upbeat, perfect for problems like this
I don't think it sounds particularly like Walking On The Moon, but I can see what you mean - and it would have been written about the same time as the police song reached No.1...
Don't Try Suicide is awful in my view. it evokes everything that is wrong with The Game; the finger snaps, bassline, the cod-rockabilly- blues and the lack of instrumentation. There's no melody to it. Get Down Make Love is in the same zone but I like that because it's edgier, here the production removes all of that. Is there anyone else who thinks that The Game isn't too hot as an album?
