Hey while we're on the subject of rarer songs. Why is so little known about Lost Opportunity? I mean, the other songs have a fair bit of literature dedicated to how they were written, recorded, whatever. But practically nothing was ever said about this song. |

I know it's easy to say things like this in hindsight, but do you think Brian wrote it with Freddie in mind? Or do you think it was linked to his own problems? I know it's easy to say they were all influenced by Freddie's situation during these times, but songs like this really seem like they could be written specifically about Fred and his situation. Also, it's clear to see why it was left off of Innuendo. Then again, as I say, it's always easy to say that in hindsight. |
FriedChicken 22.09.2005 08:31 |
Now where exactly are the rare tracks? |
FriedChicken 22.09.2005 08:31 |
Lost Opportunity was recorded in 1980, so it can't be about Freddie and Aids |

Apologies, I completely forgot it was an early track. But lyrically, has it changed from the original version? To me, reading through the lyrics, its got a very lathargic (sp?) feel to it, almost as if it were Freddie taking an almost anecdotal look on his problems. Also got a very "Sleeping On The Sidewalk-esque" feel to it, albeit slighty slower. |

It was about 1980 that the cracks were first noticeable to the outsiders yeah? |

Where did you hear that? Roger is definitely playing his Innuendo drum kit, so at most, Brian's guitar and vocal were done in 80, provided that what you said is true. |

Written or recorded in 1980? We have the same discussion about the roots of You Don't Fool Me... If it was recorded in 1980 I think they'd put Brian's name as a writer of the song (as well as they did with 'Mad The Swine' - it's Freddie's track, not Queen's, though it was released as a part of Innuendo B-side tracks, but since it was recorded much earlier than the album - they didn't use their rule about putting Queen credits on all tracks), but LO is Queen's one, so I'm not sure if it was recorded in 1980... Theory, only theory, don't shoot me! |

It is not a matter of "needing" the tracks, it is a matter of liking to have the tracks. Is the link no longer available? |
Thistle 08.01.2018 00:42 |
I don't think it is, it's from a good number of years ago buddy. I meant that most fans have all this stuff already, I thought you might have been having a laugh and resurrecting a really old thread full of officially available material. |
jipr 08.01.2018 22:28 |
No worries. I very well may have them. My music files are a bit scattered so I may need to dig a little deeper! However thanks for your time and response. |

Thanks, don't need the whole, as many of it are already circulating on web and CDs. But Dozen Red Roses is truly rare gem! By the way, do you (or maybe somebody in this topic) have the Freddie's version of "It's Christmas (All Over The World)'' from the Clause 1984 movie ? Just don't want to junk a branch by creating this request... |
