why is there a U2 iPod, but not a Queen one? disturb me very much, this does... |

Why is there a Brian May guitar, but no The Edge guitar? Why does any band come up with any irrelevant merchandise, and more importantly, why does anybody want to buy it? |

Because U2 wish to be seen as young & hip 40-somethings. Look on the bright side - there isn't a U2 musical. I would say try not to be disturbed, but once step at a time... |

Well...for one, Bono, U2, and their Manager, Paul McGuninness are VERY business savvy and also very savvy into tapping into and staying relevant with the YOUNGER generation of file sharing/digital music users...and are personal friends with IPOD Apple Demigod...Steve Jobs... so they signed an exclusive deal with ITunes to put their catalog and the ir newest album ...''How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb's FIRST single release, BEFORE it was released to radio, as an an exclusive FIRST with ITunes and did a commercial for IPOD...with that release/single, ''Vertigo''... ...ON a commercial FOR IPOD. It was a 2 way street deal. U2 doing a commercial for and promoting IPOD, and on the commercial..they sang ''Vertigo'', BEFORE it was released to radio. Many other artists are signing exclusive deals such as this tapping into the digital market because that is the future of music. ...Queenzone's ''beloved'' Robbie Williams just signed earlier this month a MULTI-MILLION dollar exclusive deal with T-Mobile Cell Phones in the European market to listen to and download his brand new album and the videos from it, BEFORE it's released to radio, as well as EXCLUSIVE to T-Mobile ONLY, concert footage, VIP Concert Tickets, BEFORE any tickets even go on sale. READ THIS! link ...last week...Madonna, just did the same exact thing with Motorola's new IPOD cell phone with her NEW album to be released later this fall, but you can listen to the songs first, legally download it, and watch videos on Motorola's NEW IPOD Cell phones. (Plus she just released her music catalog in ITunes.) READ THIS! link link ...Just ONE thing.....IF Queen did do this, which I think would be great...then do NOT BALK about them..selling out, which people on QZ tend to do. Do NOT complain that Queen has no special digital deal with IPOD, or a cell phone company or what have you, but then if Queen DOES sign such a deal, go whining about their selling out. You can't have your cake and eat it too. That's the wave of the future. Music artists signing exclusive deals with digital music suppliers for their music and videos, concerts, etc. |

Burning Horizon wrote: You got to admit though, the U2 ipod looks pretty good. but a queen ipod would be 50x betteroh yeah great idea. A Queen iPod ? 1. It'd take four rechargable AA batteries - one of which would suddenly die in 1991, another would stop working but show full charge after 1998. 2. Around 2005 Apple would release new firmware for the Queen iPod to correct the previous problems. This would result in approximately half your saved music catalogue being mysteriously and inexplicably 'wiped' off the hard drive - and replaced with Brian May and Paul Rodgers compostitions. 3. The only iPod 'podcasts' you will be able to pick up will be the broadcasts from 'ROTC Tour' 4. Some older song-writing credits will be re-credited to another band member 5. Your 'priceless first gen' copy of Drammen 82 - will be overwritten (without your request) by Q+PR Live at belfast |

Because U2 wanted the cross-promotion. U2 had a new single and then a new album and tour coming up, so it played in perfectly, but Queen aren't that big on marketing. There's been almost no mention of the tour here in America, except on classic rock radio stations and their albums, live or tribute or anything of the sort, go relatively unpromoted... |

Ha ha.. you guys are hilarious...Queen dosen't need to put their name on a material object to get people to like them or listen to them....Bono is so annoying...he's in almost every issue of Rolling Stone....can't we trap him in the iPod and leave him there? |

"Well...for one, Bono, U2, and their Manager, Paul McGuninness are VERY business savvy" Heh too bad their music sucks. Actually, if someone wanted to make a fake iPod ad with Queen instead, they could just nick the footage from Invisible Man and modify that. Heck, I'd do it if I didn't hate iPod ads so much. |

Product Placement, exclusive digital music/video downloads on IPODS, Cell Phones, etc. It's the wave of the future, keeps your music relevant with each new generation and in different geographic markets.
