I've always loved the Barcelona album. In fact I'd put it in my Queen top three just behind ADATR and QII.
I wondered if any of you guys had come across any good articles relating to the album. I'd be fascinated to read about the opinions of people from the opera world at the time.
Yes I have tried to Google, but only came up with some album reviews and a few other bits and pieces.
I'm not asking anyone to do the legwork for me, but some of you may be able to point me towards links that they have discovered in the past.
Cheers y'all.
I did submit the album "Barcelona" to Music History teacher some time back (1999) when at University.
He being considered one of the Greats in Belgium, his opinion was: it's nice, but not great.
On a music theory level, of course, it can't compeet with Mozart (nothing's been invented since him anyway). But it is considered a good introduction to the world of Opear to a new audience. This was the only positive thing I got out of him.
He was right anyway. That's what got me interested in Opera... well much more than I was anyway.

Wrong, Mr. Quinn....
The zenith of classical music was even before Mozart - his name: Johann Sebastian Bach.
Without him there would have been no Mozart, Beethoven or even Debussy (and no classical expert would even dare to deny this).
And considering Mozart: He really was a genius in comparison to Schönberg, because he wrote an unbelievable amount of masterpieces in his short life (only 33 years).
Being a little strict about the terms (but not wanting to be a pain in the ass), those composers are not Classical, but more recent, romantic, modern or contemporary. Mozart is Classical, as Haydn and the early works of Beethoven.
But yes, there was a lot of music still left to be "invented" after Mozart. The first great example is Beethoven. He's some years older than Mozart but lived longer and composed lots of great music, most of them after Mozart's lifetime. So, there's plenty of good music after Mozart.

Oh yeah, I was forgetting about Bach. He was great. I kinda regret not being able to visit anything else apart from Leipzig Arena when I was in "his" city. Well, I had to secure front row for the Queen show since it was my last one and had to make the best of it, hehe :)
Either way, there was this tall german guy in front of me the whole time. I can even see his hand in the snippet of news report of the Leipzig show I've got. That way I know where I was standing but you can't see me, hehe :S.
