Hi people!
Are there any songs on the 'Queen Rocks' album, which you feel should not have been on there and songs which should definitely have been included?
Don't get me wrong, every song on the album is excellent and I have to admit that I would find it hard to remove any tracks. What I am surprised about, are some of the songs they had left out, such as 'The Hitman', 'Rock It (Prime Jive)', 'Need Your Loving Tonight', 'The Hero', 'If You Can't Beat Them', 'White Man', Death On Two Legs', 'Sweet Lady', 'Brighton Rock', 'Ogre Battle', 'Great King Rat', 'Liar', 'Modern Times Rock 'N'Roll', 'Son And Daughter' and the fast version of 'We Will Rock You'.
Now out of all the songs mentioned, there are a few I would have put on the album straight away, 'Death On Two Legs' for example would have been a certainty but one song I have not mentioned yet, which should have definitely have gone on the album, is 'Dead On Time'. Hard, fast drums, guitar and vocal and pure hard rock. Why was this never put on?
I know you cannot fit everything on you want but do you think it would have been a commercial mistake to do a double album?
I personally think 'Dead On Time' is up there as one of their rockiest and heavies tracks and cannot for the life of me believe it was left out. Does anybody know why or if it was even considered?
So what songs would you have left and put on? Any songs I have not mentioned you feel should have been on there and do you think it should have been released an a double album?
I would have left off "tear it up" and "put out the fire" also another one or two. then put on a combination of "death on two legs" and "liar" like you said 'dead on time' would have made another good choice, "orge battle" they could have done a little better, but i think brian put this CD together and i guess he wanted only his songs on "rocks" that's the way i see it.
I agree that there are many songs that easily could have fit.
I've wondered about the "Vol. 1" that is on
the sticker. Was there an actual plan to release another CD with these other tracks?
Dead On Time should have definitely been on there but so should White Man, Modern Times Rock N Roll, Was It All Worth It, I Go Crazy, etc etc. They definitely should have done a Volume II with all their fantastic heavy rock songs...lets face it....in addition to been a great Classic Rock Band and even a Pop Band, they were at times the best Heavy Metal Band around....when they wanted to rock they could rock better than anyone bar none....
Songs which could have been deleted from Rocks 1 would certainly be: Seven Seas of Rhye (not really a really heavy rock song)and I Can't Live With You (although I appreciated the attempt at a remix to beef it up a bit)
C'mon Queen - put out Queen Rocks Volume 2 with perhaps a couple new remixes as well....I'd personally love an updated remix of Now I'm Here and maybe even Dead On Time....
Well the packaging always says Volume 1. So... it's been eight years... nearing nine. When's volume 2 coming out?! The second one should have a ton more that you guys have mentioned so far.
btw Brian said in an Interview "No one but you" was the perfect conclusion for a hard-rockin' album, and that's exactly what i think too. A new Queen song, nice ballad and a song to relax after all those rock songs.
