anyone out there with sound technical knowledge of these formats?
i have a dvd-ram that my brother recorded onto his panasonic recorder straight from digital camcorder.
he now needs to copy this to dvd-r. can this be done on the pc?
I have a dvd+r-r/dl writer - Samsung TS-H552B
if I buy a dvd-ram drive/recorder (LG GSA463BA) does it become is it a simple task of drag/drop files to hard disk? or are there loads of complications? what ways are there to get the files from ram to dvd-r?
cheers peeps
Yes, there shouldn´t be any problem Martin... connecting your digital camcorder to your PC should result in a "new", virtual hard drive... just copy the file to your PC... and then convert it and burn it, e.g. with Nero just like I do, into any format on DVD you want...
Hey Brenski, we have the same exact DVD drive!
Don't you find that it's awfully slow extracting audio from CDs? They have a little program for that called 'Magic Speed' but it seems silly to have to use a program.

I have a Panasonic E95 dvd recorder. I regulary dub programmes onto DVD Ram and author it onto DVDR using my PC. Basically all you need is a DVD Rom drive which is capable of reading ram - I think most LG drives are.
I normally use TMPG DVD Author to copy the files onto my hard drive and create menus (mainly because its the easiest to use!)

it's to do with the Aspi drivers..- some audio ripping s'ware asks to install updated aspi drivers - DON'T say yes!!! XP doersn't need them updating...it seriously fucks up other s'ware like nero etc if you say yes..i just ignore the problem...as the rest of what it does is great.
cheers for advice everyone, will sort out the LG GSA 463Ba tomorrow
The combination of an Panasonic E95 DVD-recorder and an LG DVD-R drive is the best choice I think :-) LG drives are cheap and VERY VERY good, I have much better experiences with them than with any other drives (NEC, Teac, Yamaha, Philips etc.).
