I guess you've all seen this thing (is it called ribbon?) around Freddie's arm. It can also be seen in one of the picturees in the MIH booklet. What is this ribbon? Only something drug users use do make their veines more visible or something more? I was thinking of using that kind of ribbon, would it look stupid nowadays?
It's just a bracelet...no clue what kind of correlation it would have with drugs. But yeah, you could wear something like that today. I've seen a lot of people wearing bangles high up on their arm like that before.
I went out wearing one a few times when I was at uni, with surprisingly little backlash! I borrowed my best mate's studded choker and it was a perfect fit as I've got big arms and she's got a scrawny little neck! :o)
This has been discussed on QZ before and I gave the same answer then.
It is an upper arm black leather bracelet with silver studs on it. There are many ''artsy'' avante garde shops right here in Baltimore, Maryland USA that carry them. Mostly on a place called Read Street.
I myself, have 2. One for my upper arm, one for my throat which is a type of choker necklace (but idiots often have coined them here in the USA..dog collars).
I stopped wearing mine in the late 1980's, when I got older and they also went out of fashion, but I still have both. When I was younger and booked 2 local bands and went to alot of clubs, I always wore mine.

I went into a gay bar once and say those collars all over the place. Totally un-attractive! Wooooo! The name collar comes from the time 'Police Academy' came out and there was a guy in a gay bar wearing one and the cop said "Nice collar!"
This should tell you everything you need to know, and YES it is a genuine arm bracelet, not some drug paraphernalia. Oye!
