NEWCASTLE UNITED!! has pulled off the ultimate signing! MICHAEL OWEN! yes i know it was yesterday morning it was announced but what the hell. OWEN WOO! Put that in you pints and drink em Liverpool! Like we are going to win any matches all we gonna do is able to score goals now :P |
bitesthedust 31.08.2005 15:25 |
wow.... a) He can go whenever he wants b) Newcastle don't have to recoup the fee c) If a change of manager occurs he could go sorry but his 4 year deal isn't worth the paper it's printed on. At least though that he is looking for first team football, I will say that. |
DudleyFufkin 31.08.2005 16:04 |
Michael Owen leaves Liverpool in 2004. In 2005, Liverpool are crowned European Champions. Michael Owen joines Newcastle in 2005. In 2006, Newcastle are relegated.......? |
Bob The Shrek 31.08.2005 16:20 |
All Newcastle have to do now is buy 10 decent players to make sure the little shrimp can crack a few goals in. |
Penetration_Guru 31.08.2005 16:26 |
Ignoring the hypocrisy of Dudley (who was very defensive about Owen last week), are Newcastle supporters really this blind? It's not a transfer coup to sign someone noone else wants. Especially not when you paid twice what he cost last year when all he's done since is collect splinters. The site of the unemployed population of Newcastle queuing to pay £45 for a Michael Owen shirt reminds me of the reception for Shearer, and the medals he's won since. |
DudleyFufkin 31.08.2005 16:44 |
I wasnt hypocritical, hes a very good player, englands best striker, hes just not very good at making the right choices. |

If Newcastle were playing on my front lawn I'd close the curtains.you can support a team - but maitaining a level of reality is important....Newcastle have not won a major trophy for 50 years....there's a reason for that - they're crap!!!! stop beating about the bush here people....no matter who the fuck they buy.....mcdonald, keegan, shearer, cole, quinn, robert, kluivert, beardsley, rush, barnes, solano, asprilla? some things never change....Newcastle will always win fuck-all you know the difference between newcastle supporters and Me? i am a realist - i support my team (Birmingham) in spite of 130 years of nothing...becuase i am a loyal dickhead. Michael Owen is a quality striker and will score goals period. How one year on being on the bench is half of his professional career I will never know. He also does have a clause in his contract. Freddie Shepherd said this... "I have heard a little rumour that Michael has a clause in his contract which states he can leave Newcastle United in one year's time," he said. "I can tell you now that he hasn't. Of course Michael has clauses in his contract. "In this day and age, all top players do - Alan Shearer does. But that is not one of them. Therefore, Michael does have clauses which will enable him to move once Newcastle do not get Champions league football. |
@ndy38 01.09.2005 05:59 |
I think he should prove his worth before even thinking about wanting clauses in his contract..... |
GreatKingSam 01.09.2005 06:30 |
To be honest, as good a goalscorer as he is, if I was a Newcastle fan, to see Michael Owen out there punching the sky looking delighted with joining Newcastle after he'd publicly stated that they aren't his first choice and he only wanted a year loan etc etc, I'd be slightly dissapointed. But, either way, Souness will be gone soon and then maybe they can get a manger in who isn't a clueless prick always looking for an excuse. I hope that Shearer will be better for you... |

like i said, we can now SCORE GOALS but NOT WIN MATCHES cos our COACH or MANAGER is the BIGGEST SHIT PILE TO ENTER NEWCASTLE since GARETH GATES did a gig there! Our so called MANAGER thinks its a better idea to SELL DEFENDERS and MIDEFIELDERS i.e. JENAS, etc and buy MORE STRIKERS! aint going to work, you need a good balance of defence, mid-field and striking, cos you should of all noticed last years season, ALL THE STRIKERS WERE PLAYING DEFENCE!had nothing up front cos our defence is that shit even sunderland could probably beat us, wait no lets not go drastic, but GIVES US A DECENT MANAGER! PLEASE! one more time:SCORE GOALS NOW-WIN MATCHES? NE FOOKING CHANCE! |

Bobby Robson, no SIR Bobby Robson was an EXCELLENT manager when with Newcastle, or any other team for that matter, i cant believe Freddie Sheperd Fired him in the opening of the season, sure we always started badly but we always started kicking ass and came high ish in the premier league, under souness we have done the worst in many years, next year will be relegation unless souness pulls his act together with defence and mid field, sheesh.. |

Michael Owen, from soccerbase.com: Liverpool 01-08-1996 - 13-08-2004. Games Played League (sub) 193 (23) FA Cup 14 (1) League Cup 12 (2) Other 48 (4) 297 in 8 years at an average of 37.125 games per season, thats not bad for a person aged 17-25 during his time there. Now how many teams play 74 games a season? |
DudleyFufkin 01.09.2005 16:21 |
"bad choices" mean leaving liverpool last season without giving Benitez a chance, I mean, Gerrard stayed and ended up lifting the European Cup. This years bad choice is joining Newcastle, although I think he had to as Liverpool were his first choice and no way were we gonna pay 17 million for him after selling him for 8 and only having received 4 million thus far. |

I still think Owen is a good buy for Newcastle - even if overpriced. They will probably re-coup a lot the money on merchandising, especially as he has a short name :-) |

*gutted* I love Michael Owen but I hate Newcastle with a passion. I just hope he doesn't turn into a cry-baby clone of Alan Shearer, who'll have a go at the ref whether it concerns him or not and would probably get out of the shower and run on to the pitch with a towel round him, if it meant being able to stick his nose in. |

I used to stick up for Drogba. Then I went to White Hart Lane on Saturday. Then I realised he is infact wank. Absolutely useless. Apparently a guy was on Radio 5 live this morning saying Newcastle will be the next Leeds if they don't get into Europe this season. They have massively overspent chasing the dream just like Leeds did. This guy was an expert on football finances and said Newcastle had gone way over budget getting Owen. BYE BYE NEWCASTLE!! |
Penetration_Guru 02.09.2005 16:31 |
"worst season for ages" fucking hell you were getting 10,000 in the second tier before Keegan came. Learn your fucking history. As for Owen's "bad choices" - 1. Benitez sold him 2. Beniteze wouldn't buy him back blaming either of the above of Owen would be the mark of an imbecile. Ah. Oops. Now I see. |
Banquo 03.09.2005 05:32 |
I cannot for the life of me see why other clubs weren't going in for him. He IS ALWAYS going to score goals wherever he is. He is a brilliant striker. Hell if PNE weren't so tight-arsed and we didn't have 'Super' David Nugent we should have gone for him. |
@ndy38 03.09.2005 06:27 |

meh, well im not saying i believe this but what i heard was Newcastle had rolled out (literally) a red carpet, and brought Owen into Sheperds house/mansion and treat him like he was king of the world, Liverpool offered to talk to him in the small room or something, i dont know, dont care, and are we hell going to be Leeds! we might not win games but we wont be relegated! that guy on radio 5 is talkin bullshit and Shearer is one of the best, its just the rest of the team and Souness that let him down! |
Penetration_Guru 03.09.2005 08:01 |
I think when your manager says to you "we've accepted a bid for you", your choice is theoretical at best. |
DudleyFufkin 03.09.2005 08:59 |
Anyway Guru, how do you think man u will fare this season? |
Penetration_Guru 03.09.2005 11:03 |
I think we'll improve slightly, but all this talk of "hitting the ground running", "not letting Chelsea get away this time" will put so much pressure on the team that as soon as they get a draw it'll be "that's it, the league's gone", which is crap, but there you go. Anyway, it's not the same with some Yank cunt in charge. I lost a fair bit of interest last season, and am less bothered about watching every game this season. No doubt you're assuming that 5 will become 6 shortly, except this time as part of a clean sweep of silverware? |
DudleyFufkin 03.09.2005 17:47 |
Well we've got one trophy already in possibly the worse game of football i've ever seen. I think we will be hard to beat in europe this year, may not win it again, but will go far. I dont think we'll be 37 points of the league this year, ous away tactics (after 1 game) looks much better than last year already, and I think we will be top 3. I think peter crouch will be essential to us. I know he's mocked, but you just waut and see. ps, well done england, you managed to beat wales, although wales were solid, we only had 1 chance, good luck in the world cup, hope you win it. I think thats the nicest post i;ve ever made. |
Penetration_Guru 03.09.2005 18:53 |
